We used to love postal annex when we used them in San Francisco. But it is as always up to the employees and owners of a franchise to bring a concept to live. It does not seem that this particular location got the best, most motivated people in that line of work. We only used the spot twice to drop of DHL packages and both times it seems like a burden for them to take them in. And we asked for a receipt Both times only to be educated that DHL don't scan the items dropped and therefor there is not receipt. With DHL you mostly have export items so you want a receipt to make sure if it's an order that you have a proof that you put the parcel in the system. Well if you do it at this place you want have it. So we looked into other places to drop of DHL and we found a spot near our warehouse we can even walk to. And when we dropped the box without us even asking we have been asked by the clerk at the other place "do you want a receipt?" - hell yes! That is a place where they understand the needs of the customers. Not that much at postal annex at this reviews location. So we will never use this spot for any needs. Since you can have a bad day but twice is just one time to often for a business that deals as an important part of a chain for sending parcels. read more

I used to go here regularly just to mail things or send things through UPS, which didn't require much interaction, which was fine. This time, I went to sign some financial documents that required a witness. The blonde guy who worked there seemed annoyed from the start and, unfortunately, made some mistakes on the form. We paid our $20 and then realized the mistakes. When we went back in, he seemed really defensive and said, "You can see how I made those mistakes"... (actually, no, I could not see how'd you get confused and make those mistakes). So he did not own up to his mistakes, he did not offer to help rectify the situation, and now I have to spend more $$ to print out this long document and get it resigned--somewhere else for sure this time. read more

Was hoping for convenience and speedy efficient service like other Postal Annex I have visited but this one was SO BAD. Had 1 prepaid label to drop off, and one t-shirt in an addressed mailer I couldn't prepay for. First, I walk in and the employee (long blonde hair) is shoving a bagel in his mouth and does not acknowledge me at all. He seems very annoyed actually, that I walked in. He has food all over his face, licks his fingers, says something but I can't understand with food still in his mouth. So I start telling him what I need and he takes my prepaid and puts it in a bin. I give him my info, I put my non prepaid on the scale. I see he's entered my 6x4 in as a 12 x 10 but don't say anything and he tells me it's $12.80 as the 'cheapest option'. I ask him why it's so expensive because I've shipped these exact packages before and he literally just says "oh, have you shipped this cheaper somewhere before? you can go back there." I'm like - wow. ok. sure, I will. I grab my unshipped package, put it back in my car. I walk back towards the Postal Annex to go on my second errand in the plaza. The same employee walks out in just his socks and nearly runs into me (because clearly, I am in his way and inconveniencing him) while carrying packages to the Fedex truck. I generally do not like to engage in writing negative reviews, but multiple experiences at this annex leaves me wanting to warn others from taking their business here. The customer service here is comically bad. Ryan is incredibly rude, and careless with his job. The first time I was the only customer inside and waited at the front counter for a couple minutes while I heard rustling in the back. I eventually called out to see if anyone was there, and Ryan comes out with a hot dog in hand and says he needs to eat his hot dog because he's 'just so hungry'. He proceeds to take his time and finish his entire hot dog in front of me before he helps me with a short transaction. I can empathize with needing a moment for lunch, but it was very weird the way he did it in front of me and his rudeness throughout was offensive. The second interaction was today, and this time Ryan was in the front but with his back to the counter clearly watching YouTubes. Again, I was the only customer in the store and he could clearly hear that someone was there, but instead ignored me to watch his YouTube videos until I had to say something. I had a label, but needed to box up something to be shipped. He charges me $5 for a box and then takes my item and label, sets it on a counter and just proceeds to turn his back and watch his videos. I ask him if he's going to pack it and he says 'I'll do it later" without looking up. I ask if I can pack it myself because it's a valuable item and he says I can if I really want to. As I'm doing that, he's back to watching his YouTube videos, ignoring a second customer that walked in. When I'm done, I ask if he was going to take my packages to the back to be picked up and again he says "I'll do it later" without turning to look at me. I said ok and left everything on the counter, but as I drove away I was uncomfortable that my two valuable packages were just sitting there with a very clueless employee. I ended up turning around and going back in, I stood at the counter once again for about a minute while he ignores me and continues to watch his videos with his back turned. I grabbed my packages and left (which anyone could have done). Ryan shows no effort while at his job, and creates an unsafe environment for valuable packages, which people trust him to handle. I'm not sure how he was able to acquire this job, or how he is able to maintain it, but he really makes this postal annex a non-option for me at this point. read more

I hadn't come here in years because the last experience I had was awful. I asked the kid at the counter if he had tape to just put my label on but he said he didn't and made me pay 6$ for a roll of tape. And then my package got lost anyways. Given that was years ago and I need to ship a single package out I thought I just give it a try, it's close to home. The guy with long blonde hair was super rude and unhelpful. I waited five minutes to be helped and when it was my turn I explained I just needed to drop off a package labeled already but I'd like a receipt. No eye contact, just mumbled really quickly "yeah well we can't print out receipts here" and he looked behind me to help the next woman "how can I help you" there was no conclusion to our conversation it was extremely rude. Ups was closed and I needed my package shipped today so I just left it . And to my surprise again, my package is LOST. If you don't want to risk your package being lost and dealing with this guy go somewhere else idk how he still has a job here. read more

The VERY UNIQUE service at this Postal Annex is that they ship sealed alcohol! Recommended by my regular FedEx location, the rumors were true... The friendly, professional lady here helped custom ship a case of special beer to my friend in Santa Cruz. This service is not cheap, as they have to pay for a special license... so please be kind to the staff. read more

My friends needed several awkward shipments of bulky marine products sent to them in American Samoa. Every time the folks at Postal Place made it easy, fast and helped my find the least expensive solution to arrive on time. They were even willing to call the post office for me to find out for sure when I could get by on a less expensive delivery method yet still meet the desired deadlines. I imagine it must have changed ownership because it used to be the best service--friendly staff, good energy, and my packages and letters got to where they were going on time. Last time I was in I paid for priority shipping and it seemed to be taking a while for the letter to arrive and when I checked the tracking, it had sat at the Postal Annex for a week. Makes me sound a little creepy, but these folks are so darn friendly, helpful and efficient that I just can't help myself. I didn't have a retail experience here, but I had a package stolen off my front porch, I guess the thief didn't want it and somehow the opened box ended up in the front seat of a FedEx truck, which then took it to the Postal Annex, and they were kind enough to call me and the hold the package until I was able to come get it. Thanks so much for the help, I expect most places to just do the easy thing (i.e., do nothing) in that situation! read more

The new owner/management is friendly, helpful, competent -- everything I could hope for. When the helpful and friendly gentleman behind the counter told me they had a new owner the two people in line (distanced, of course) CHEERED. I kid you not. The people who work in this place are rude, unhelpful and discourteous. It started with them giving me the wrong directions-twice. I called to find them where they are located and they were very abrupt and non-specific. Once I found the place-finally-they did not greet me just asked in a very rude voice what I wanted. I asked if they had any tape to shut the box with and they told me it was 50c. I had no money and had to ask someone outside for the money. I have never been charged for tape before. This is ridiculous. I said I would do it myself. They wouldn't give me a break and acted like I was beneath them. From beginning to end my experience was awful. I'm a repeat customer because of inertia and the location, not because of the customer service and appreciation. They offer a variety of services, which helps, and are fairly efficient. But even the people at the USPS service windows nowadays are friendlier and more helpful (at this Postal Annex it often feels like they think a customer is an inconvenience). read more

Zero stars. If you need a notary, you will be robbed. They charge double and have a cheater means of doing so. Because you won't find out until the notary is finished, they'll have you over a barrel and paying double the cost with no way of retracting the transaction. Do not go here. The people that work at this branch of postal annex are incredibly rude. They have no phones skills at all and in person seem to not want to be there. I have had my box there for a few months and even though my old postal annex is further away from me since I moved, I think I might go back to them. I have been a loyal customer for 8 years. I ship a lot to Hawaii and always know to use priority mail other wise it is a slow boat to China. In the 8 years that i have been using there service there has been 2 mistakes, the first one with the previous owners who apologized and looked at my shipping history and knew it was their fault ready to reimburse me and do whatever it took to rectify the situation. With the new owners as of a few years ago they have a very different attitude. The same situation just happened to me and they refused to see that it was their fault. The owner was rude and hung up on me, bad customer service. I do not advise using their service as they make mistakes with shipping methods customers ask for and then blame the customer. Mistakes do happen but it in the customer service that makes the situation better and keeps the customer coming back, not with the new owners read more

The previous owner of this Postal Annex franchise was nasty; he had an unpleasant attitude and treated customers like they were an annoyance. I understand this store has a new owner, and my initial experiences under new management were positive; the employees were capable and friendly. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I recently mailed a package using UPS and was charged twice. When I called to report the duplicate charge, it was still pending on my bank statement; the store clerk told me to wait to see if one of the pending charges was removed before being finalized. The next day, both charges appeared as finalized on my bank statement, so I called Postal Annex again and was told to bring my receipt and a copy of my bank statement to the store. When I returned, the woman working at the store told me she was new and I'd have to wait for the person who would be able to take care of the duplicate charge. I waited about 10 minutes before commenting that it seemed unfair that I was being inconvenienced (with a couple of phone calls, a visit, and a wait) by a mistake made by a store employee. Immediately, a guy who looked like he was half asleep or stoned appeared from around the corner; he had been there the whole time, out of sight, but listening to my issue and making me wait until he felt motivated enough to help out. He fiddled with his computer, yawned, and made me feel like removing the the duplicate charge was a major inconvenience for him. Finally, he handed me a piece of paper that I hope will result in a credit to my bank statement. I should add that, while I was waiting, I asked the female employee to mail a card I had placed in a standard padded envelope. Like the male employee, she fiddled with her computer as though trying to figure out how to mail my envelope, then she pulled out a tape measure and began to try to measure it in 3 dimensions! I said, "It's an envelope. You can just mail it like an envelope rather than a package." So she did. Honestly, it was a very bizarre experience. read more

If you enjoy being charged for services they DO NOT deliver on, then this is the place for you. I asked for delivery confirmation, they charged me for it, but never followed through with the service. They then tried to "blame" this problem on me, asking for, in addition, a return receipt. I chalk it up to them not being thorough. Very poor customer service and rude staff. I shipped an important package using USPS priority mail. I was charged $23+ and the package was mangled in transit, never reached its destination and only some of it were returned to me. I asked about a refund and how best to ship the second time. I did not get an apology, which is the first step in providing good customer service. And, I took the package to the post office and spent $6.25 for the same delivery and time frame. read more

These guys are great. My mother had just passed away so it was a very emotional time. I live in Hawaii and had sorted threw all her things keeping my daughter her only grandchild in mind. First of all, I would give a minus rating if that's possible. Dealing with the manager/ owner of this store was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. After paying for a mailbox at this location for over twenty years, I've been a long-time customer. The Postal Annex was recently purchased by new management who proceeded to fire all of the staff that had been there for years. Odd, I thought. When I saw two of the old staff around town they told me how horrible they were treated and were actually relieved when they were fired. A couple of years later it was apparently my turn as a customer to be fired. The new owner tells me he has closed my account due to non-payment when I went in to pick up my mail. I was shocked. I asked if he had my phone number or tried to contact me as I was unaware that I had an outstanding balance. He said he did have my number but he was tired of managing my account. Are you kidding me??? Picking up the phone to get my credit card number is too much of a bother?!? Asking me to pay when I pick up my mail, too hard? Lame. So lame. I would suggest to anyone to stay away from this company. Horrible business with no loyalty to its employees or its customers. STAY AWAY!! read more
