My dad absolutely loves grilling whenever we come to visit, and without fail, this is the only market we buy our carne asada from. It's become a family tradition at this point, and every cookout is something we all look forward to. Beyond the amazing meat selection, the market itself is clean, organized, and easy to shop. Everything is neatly stocked, making it simple to find what you need without feeling overwhelmed. The employees are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help, which makes the experience even better. I can save some money (and calories, carbs, fat, weight, etc) and just buy some mg meals. Literally i pop one in the microwave and in about 3 minutes i have my food. Doordash can't beat that. Not even with an extra fee, Orders are due by Thursday at noon and they use shop pay, that's an app i trust fully for transactions. I highly recommend giving them a try over other national prep services; that send frozen meals and use preservatives. Also, the open kitchen concept provides a really good ambience when you walk in. A Sweet Birthday Stop at the Original Dewar's…read more I took a friend to the original Dewar's location downtown to celebrate her birthday, and it was the perfect place for a little old-school Bakersfield treat! She went with a classic root beer float, while I ordered a cherry ice cream soda, which is quickly becoming one of my favorites. The barista even gave me some extra soda water on the side, just in case I needed a refill of that bubbly goodness, such a thoughtful touch! When we walked in, the store was already packed, but luckily we snagged two barstools at the counter. There was a family celebrating what looked like a milestone or baptism, and honestly, it made the whole atmosphere even better. Happy kids, happy adults, and everyone enjoying a cold, frosty treat. It felt like exactly what a visit to Dewar's should be. There's something special about the original location. The biggest downside for me is the pricing. Compared to the markets I shop at in Koreatown when I'm in Los Angeles, many items here are significantly more expensive. Because of that, I usually stock up during my trips to LA and only stop by when I need something quickly and don't want to wait. On my most recent visit, it was nice to see that they had received a healthy shipment of fresh vegetables.
