This was our 1st visit here and we loved it. Staff are friendly and the restaurant was clean. It was kind of busy inside the restaurant but other than that we had a great experience. The food was so good and flavorful. My daughter and son who are both picky loved it. The spices were perfect and everything was hot and made to order. Went to Bakersfield to visit my brother for lunch. First time at Dave's hot chicken and wow! The cauliflower sandwich is delicious, especially if it's not too thick or too over cooked. The fries are nicely seasoned. Pickles have a nice crunch. I ordered the reaper and they have you sign a waiver lol and I don't blame them. It has a nice huff and puff in the nose and an itch in the cranium aka spicy hahaha. If you're looking for an alternative chicken sandwich, give the cauliflower sandwich a try. read more

First time at Dave's. I've been on a personal quest for good chicken sandwiches. A co-worker told me to check out Dave's. After a very exciting grocery shopping adventure, I was starved! Dave's was close. Drive thru was longish. Took about 5 minutes to place my order then another 10 to get my food. I ordered the 3 piece mozz with mild seasoning and the #4 combo light mild, which is a slider with fries. I waffled on getting the slider with the slaw or not. I went ahead and ordered it with the slaw. Got home. Took pix. Pigged out! Mozz were good. Three was too many! The mild seasoning on them was the perfect flavor for them, my opinion, of course. The slider was really good! The slaw was a really nice addition. It wasn't too wet or sweet. Pickles came with both orders. They were the star of the meal! All that dry seasoning needed something as a palate cleanser and the pickles did the job! I studied the menu online, on Yelp, to figure out what to order. Online, they showed slushes and milkshakes with toppings. Those weren't on the drive thru menu. I'll go again for the slider and maybe try the Mac and cheese. Online ordering was pretty easy! I feel taken advantage of because I wasnt dining in to see the food before I got home to open it all up. I get sometimes the chicken bites are different sizes that makes sense. But this disparity is pretty wild. If it comes down to it just give me 3 sliders instead of 4 or just dont put anything and leave a pickle sandwich. I dont know how the decision was made to place both of those pieces next to each other and it made it through whatever quality control then to the customer. When I heard about Dave's Hot Chicken coming to Bakersfield I was excited because I love me a good chicken sandwich. I've probably visited about a handful of times now. The combos are pretty hefty and each combo in my opinion can feed about 2 people. I have never been able to finish a combo, so that tells you they give you a good size meal. The location is a great place. It's located near Walmart on Gosford, but the only thing is that this chicken spot is too close to Angry Chickz. I think the food is pretty similar to Angry Chickz, but the plus side is for people like me that rather go to the drive-thru because I'm always on the go. I also feel like the milkshakes are superior, so make sure to get that strawberry shake w the lucky charm marshmallows! Service is pretty fast. There's not a long wait anymore. If you decide to eat inside, it's pretty loud inside, but it's clean and there's a lot of tables. Parking is not an issue, there's plenty of parking since they share a huge parking lot with the other businesses. read more

I guess you could say Nashville hot chicken sliders are my current guilty pleasure. There are alot of these places around and we have tried them all. I keep coming back to this place though.. Me and my wife are perfectly content sharing a pair of sliders and fries and if I sneak in by myself they also have a one slider and fry meal for a decent price. The chicken tender is huge so i usually cut off the portion hanging over the bun and eat it my itself. The sauce, slaw, and pickle are all great, but its when you put a packet of honey on the chicken, that's when the magic happens. My son has been wanting to try this place and finally gave it a try! Wanted to wait until the hype died down yet the restaurant was popping when we arrived but still felt comfortable. I ordered a lucky charm shake and 2 tenders and fries! The lucky charm shake was soooo good, I did not expect the cereal pieces on top but the milkshake was very delicious. I got the 1st heat on my chicken tenders and they were incredibly flavorful and the sauce that came with it was very delicious. Service was great and we waited for a bit for our macaroni and cheese. My first impression of Dave's: Love the look of the place and hype surrounding the opening. It has been a couple weeks and today there was no line outside of the drive thru. Ordering was friendly and easy with great suggestions. Instructed to by-pass the first window where I was met with a friendly individual who allowed me to tap-n-go. The window and drive through was clean. The packaging is fun and does not allow for flavors to mix perfect with hot chicken. Ordered two tenders one mild and one hot and asked for napkins and Dave's sauce. I got just what I ordered. And no utensils with four napkins. The mild piece on the right side of the photo has good seasoning and great crust. The bread and pickles were on point. The chicken was on the dry side and looked shriveled. Dave's sauce was a perfect addition to each bite. The hot piece of chicken on the left side of the photo has good seasoning and flavor the bread was too soggy to stay with the strip. The hot tender piece of chicken was moist and succulent. The crust was well formed and complemented by their pickles. Again, Dave's sauce makes each bite a reason to return. The food was so good, I went 2 days in a row. My 1st time there, I was taken aback by the price. I thought it was a bit pricey for a meal of 2 sliders, fries, and a regular drink. I was able to add hot sauce to my chicken tenders and still didn't feel it wasn't anything crazy. I'm hesitant on trying the spice above "medium" because some of the people I watched on YouTube acted like it was crazy hot but not as hot as the reaper spice level. Today, I visited your establishment at approximately 2:40 and went through the drive-through. My order was the number one with a Coke and a mac & cheese. I initially went to the first window, but since no one was there, I paid at the second window. I asked the gentleman if they had ketchup, and he said it was in the bag. Since it was included, I didn't need any extra. While eating, I inadvertently chewed on a piece of plastic that was in the mac & cheese. I'm not sure if your establishment boils the mac & cheese in the bag, but I advise you to be more careful. I was fortunate to feel the plastic while chewing and avoid swallowing it, which could have caused harm. I've tried Dave's in LA and Visalia, so I was really excited when I heard they were opening one in Bakersfield. We tried to go almost every day during the first week, but the line stretched all the way to the doors at Ross's. Finally, we found a slow day around 3 pm with only about 10 cars ahead of us. The food was just as good as the other locations, and the service was fast and friendly. The place has a clean, modern vibe with a fun energy--despite the crowds, it didn't feel chaotic. At first, the app didn't recognize the new location, but I'm happy to say it's up and running now. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

In terms of seasoning and crispness they're the TOP fast food fries I've had in a while. (In n out fries are still my fave for overall flavor but they need to watch their back lol.) My son got a hot tender and extra hot slider. I got a mild tender and medium slider. Dave's does bring some heat! I sampled the hot tender and I think I could handle it - with assistance. My mild tender had some heat. Dave also brings lots of flavor from medium on up and our food was delicious. In my opinion the mild tender was not as flavorful, and the Mac n cheese was okay, not great. And the prices are too high, but they're too high everywhere. Dave's has some drinks and shakes that are unique to them and worth checking out. My son enjoyed his frozen orange lava burst (slushy?). The restaurant itself is really nice and the theme is really neat. The service was alright not the greatest and the workers seemed mad or not enjoying being there. The food was good. The tenders did lack some seasoning and compared to Angry chickz. I think Angry chickz took the winning. The fries were good and even with the cheese sauce on the sandwich it still wasn't that good.
