2 Egg with green chile, bacon, potatoes with cheese, English muffin, sausage
    Marissa M.

Had breakfast here with the hubby today around 12ish on a Saturday. I got item B: 2 eggs (with green chile added) sausage, bacon, potatoes (with cheese added) and English muffin. Food took about 30 minutes, kind of a long time but we got to see what everyone else was ordering as it came from the kitchen and chit chat. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy, English muffin and potatoes with tomatoes, bacon, cheddar cheese. They messed up on my husbands order and put the gravy on the chicken fried steak when he wanted it on the side and forgot his green onions...but he said it was still good. I can attest to that. Food was good. Was craving potatoes with cheese on top so this hit the spot. Gravy was good with the English muffin...Super filling. Glad I had cash on me but looks like they take Venmo also. My major complaint is the bathroom. The toilet seat was up and it was super gross and the toilet needs some attention and cleaning. Kinda ruined my appetite, good thing I already ate. My husband warned me, too lol...

Cute diner vibe with manhole sized pancake. Potatoes are worth the trip! It's nice there's a small parking lot on the side as well, if you're lucky you can snag a spot

Good place to have breakfast and lunch. I ordered the two egg breakfast with 2 bacon and sausage patty with wheat toast and potato patties, bc they don't have hash browns. Breakfast was good with plenty of food. But Potato Shack should invest in hash browns. Wife got biscuits and gravy with steamed eggs and home fry potatoes. The service was very good and friendly. The waitress brought us salsa which was very good. Overall, I recommend this place for breakfast.

We stopped at the Potato Shack for breakfast after a fun weekend in San Diego. I had French toast and bacon. My wife had the BLT and LOVED it. Our friend got the "Manhole-size" pancake. The food quality was fantastic and we all really enjoyed it. As a person who grew up in Encinitas, it was great to be back again and to enjoy some high quality food with good friends.

    Perfect lunch spot!

Right off the main street towards the sough end of Encinitas, this little gem serves great food with really good service. Today i had the turkey burger and homemade fries. Fantastic and not bad for you. It is all so fresh, can't imagine how good breakfast must be... bit I'm sure other Yelpers have posted so always trust Yelp. I guess my favorite part of this place is easy parking and its quiet. Good little find!

We hadn't been here for years, and it was fun to come back for Sunday brunch after church. Limited street parking. Indoor and outdoor seating, you'll get seated faster if you say "first available". We were seated outside where luckily the sun was out warming us up. Breakfast and lunch served all day. I didn't catch our server's name, but she was very attentive and busily dashing from table to table to make sure all her customers were satisfied. We ordered a steak and eggs, a BLTA with fries, eggs over hard with bacon, and huevos rancheros with a side manhole choc chip pancake. The salsa on the side of the huevos rancheros was sufficiently spicy but the huevos rancheros themselves were rather bland. All other meals were yummy and satisfying.

Potato shack is an american breakfast restaurant that serves a variety of typical breakfast foods such as pancakes, omelets, eggs benedicts, etc. They also have bottomless potatoes depending on your order! Yum. For those who may not feel enticed for breakfast food, they also have a lunch menu with sandwiches and others! Important to note they everything is cash/venmo only which is a bummer for me. Service was great! Our waiter checked on us plenty of times. There are both indoor and outdoor seating as well. Park on the streets!

This restaurant had your classic dinner vibe and good food to match! The manhole pancakes are no exaggeration and are absolutely HUGE. I came with a very big group and the staff was super accommodating.

Such a cute place and excited I found it. Their biscuits and gravy hit the spot and their potatoes were perfectly seasoned. If I am back in the area, I will definitely go again. Definitely worth it.

Meeting with family, most from San Diego County. All the dishes looked delicious. My chicken sandwich with kitchen fries was outstanding. Talked with Scott who knows the family from years of patronage. Beautiful day to sit outside.Steve and Randy hadn't arrived yet when photo was taken.

BIERGARDEN @ ENCINITAS…read more Parking can be a little difficult since this spot is located right on the main strip in Encinitas. There's parallel street parking throughout the area, so you might get lucky and find a spot nearby. I ended up parking on one of the side streets, which worked out perfectly. I came here on a Sunday afternoon, and it was definitely busy. We had to wait a little while for a table because several tables still needed to be cleaned before they could seat new guests. The staff was incredibly friendly, though, and we were seated as soon as they could. It did take about 15 minutes before a server was able to come over and take our order, but the restaurant was completely packed, so it's something to keep in mind if you're in a hurry. After spending the day at the beach, we were really just in the mood for drinks. I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita, which can be served with Tajín, sea salt, or no rim at all. It was really good and definitely on the stronger side, which I appreciated. My only complaint was that there was a bit too much ice, but the flavor itself was great. The atmosphere is what really makes this place stand out. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, large open windows that let in plenty of fresh air, and a fun, lively vibe that makes it a great place to relax after a beach day. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the ambiance and cocktails, just be prepared for a little wait if you visit during peak hours.

And our server was fantastic. So why, you might ask, only 4 stars in my review. Two reasons: 1). Management has prohibited giving a splash of a beer for someone to sample. Bottom line is that I wanted to order a pint of beer, but I wanted a splash of a couple of beers to try to make my decision. They refused, saying that one must buy a 5oz taster if one wants to taste the beer. I find that policy offensive. In the end I bought a taster to taste the Chuuurch, and then bought an additional pint after. It just seems nickel and dimey, and would be asking to an ice cream place not allowing one to sample their ice creams before buying a cone. I hope management reconsiders this policy. 2. My wife got the Hot Mess Fries and was disappointed not only in the flavor, but also in the misleading advertising. On the menu it specifically said that there was bacon in the fries, but in fact what they put on the fries was either chunks of ham or "Canadian bacon" (which as we all know is a very different thing from "bacon"). If they were or of regular bacon, the kitchen should have told the server this so he could have asked her if she wanted ham as a substitute. And, of they always use ham instead of bacon, them the menu needs to be changed to reflect that.

I ordered the mahi mahi fish tacos and a house coffee. The coffee was actually pretty good! Cream and sugar were delivered separately to finish with your preference. As for the tacos, it was okay. The fish was a bit dry for my liking, cabbage could have been chopped with more finesse, and I wished they QC'd their limes a bit before putting them on the plate. Both were bone dry and I had to ask for more. Moreover, the cilantro lime rice was also a bit bland. It needed salt to lift the flavors in my opinion. There weren't even flecks of green if it was supposed to be cilantro? I tried boyfriend's veggie hash but was disappointed to find that it was almost all potatoes. Having said that, it was an extremely generous portion so he was filled up. While I didn't try it, our friend that had the chorizo hash also said it was okay so I'm guessing the ratio wasn't quite right. Anyways, ask for their chili sauce on the side, that's actually quite surprising. It had really good heat and was more like a chili crisp than a vinegary hot sauce. The plates that did score favorably at the table were the carne chilaquiles and the divorced eggs.

HIGHLIGHTS (in case you don't feel like reading): SERVICE: 10/10 FOOD: 10/10 AMBIANCE: 10/10 BAR 10/10 Wait Staff: The Henry seems to have built a genuinely great culture among its wait staff. Across roughly 8 to 10 visits, I've never had a poor experience with a single server. Every interaction has been overwhelmingly positive. Being realistic, these men and women are on their feet for hours, constantly moving and working, yet every server I've encountered stays upbeat and makes you feel genuinely appreciated as a guest. That level of consistency doesn't happen by accident! More recently, ELENA and GRACE have been my servers, and they embody everything described above and I hope to see them every time I go!!! Food: I'll be honest, As far as entrees fI refuse to order anything other than the prime skirt steak and the braised short rib because they're both that good. Prime skirt steak: Order it medium rare and expect a perfect sear, a beautiful crust, and a perfectly cooked steak. Over the many times I've ordered it, it has come out virtually identical every single time, and the presentation is equally impressive. Flawless dish. Braised Short Rib: It's textbook perfect. The sauce hits that sweet and savory balance beautifully, and with the mashed potatoes, everything just works. Presentation is excellent here, too. You'll see some variety from time to time, and it's fun to see it. This is an easy ten out of ten dish. SUSHI: ORDER THE SUSHI! Neither of the aforementioned dishes are especially large and this is where the sushi comes in! They have EXCELLENT sushi rolls as well! Ask about the yellowtail specialty roll! High praise for the 3 different rolls that I tried! Ambience. The ambience deserves its own mention. There's an energy to the place--lively and upbeat, but not chaotic. No bad seat in the restaurant.
