I just picked up a sandwich for pick up. I was a little worried because the the cubs game, but I think I timed it well. Not only was the service incredibly quick, but the slice of the sandwich was really well done. Both sides are perfectly even. I'm not sure the name of who was working, but it was Saturday 4-19-25, and my pick up time was 3:14. Three stars, three words: What a mess. It takes a lot for me to write a poor review, but this is one of those situations. We came in as a group of four and the workers asked each of us to repeat our orders multiple times--You said multigrain? Multigrain right? Remind me what bread again? Masks were on, music was loud, not a big deal. But when when we got to toppings, they mixed up my family's two sandwiches and accused us of not listening when they called out and grabbed the wrong one (we can't see behind the counter!). After arguing with us, telling us we need to listen better, and then making four other people's sandwiches, they finally remade the one that they messed up. To streamline things, my partner and I each ordered the same sandwich and asked for all the toppings except for mayo and oil and ended up only getting pickles and lettuce--a bummer because we love the hot peppers and spicy mustard. After all that, the cashier was trading free items (sandwich upgrades, chips, cookies, etc.) for people to take the survey on their receipts... I get needing to hit a quota, but it was desperate and tacky. The food was still fine so those are the stars this review is holding onto. We'll be back to other Potbelly, I'm sure, but this location on Southport is a joke. read more

The folks behind the counter here are very friendly. However, they have a habit of having you order your sandwich, then pay, then go back to tell the sandwich person what you want on the sandwich. This causes confusion and congestion and the veggies and condiments station. I think if Potbelly's want is to do things in that order they'd have set it up that way. Food is standard fare and quite good. Everyone is friendly, just unneeded confusion. The back seating area is spacious and enjoyable. Better than Belmont, not as good as Lincoln Square. read more

Overall: Location and service make this another great Potbelly stop for a quick and easy bite. The good: Very convenient location right off the brown line, a great stop if you need to grab food before heading home. One of the few "fast food" options in the immediate area, which is nice. The service has always been friendly in my many stops here. They have a ton of space (some of which seems unnecessary) and even have a piano for people to play on if they want. Place is always clean and professional. The not-so-good: Not much, just a normal Potbelly's. The wait is sometimes long, but you can't really blame them for that (to a degree). read more

Mmmmmm.....sub-a-licious! Big fan of the Big sandwiches, vanilla or chocolate shakes and Sheila's Dream Bars. I was looking forward to the debut of The Clubby, but was a little underwhelmed. I think I'll stay loyal to the Italian or A Wreck. Internet ordering is fast, easy and convenient, and has a surprisingly friendly user-interface. Nicely done, Potbelly. (Give it a try...it really was a pleasant surprise). Also, as opposed to some other Potbelly locations, this one actually has fountain soda...a great improvement over a fridge full of cans and bottles. I am thrown back in time every time I walk in the doors. There's a college-y vibe: a neighborhood bulletin board littered with flyers of local on-goings, a young happy staff, and on Fridays, a dude playing guitar and singing. I like it. Potbelly's has a clear commitment to offering healthy eats in addition to their dessert tray, shakes and more decadent sammy selections. They provide a calorie count for each and every menu item. I get the skinny turkey sammy paired with a side of chili. 400 calories for the sandwich and 185 calories for the side of chili. No potbelly on this lady. This joint keeps my fitbit happy! read more

I see so many reviews saying the staff here is overwhelmingly friendly. Unfortunately I have not had the same experience. I just moved into the neighborhood, I've come into this potbelly a total of 4 times, and every single time I leave feeling stupid and unwelcome. I worked for potbelly for 2 years and it was one of my favorite jobs I've ever had because I loved the customers. It does sort of break my heart that every time I come here the staff is whole heartedly disinterested. I get the same thing every time. And original Italian regular bread add marinara. Nothing crazy. But one special request I do make is I ask they spoon the hot pepper oil onto the sandwich instead of the full peppers. And every single time I'm met with some kind of rude comment including "I mean I don't really think I can do that but I guess I'll try." From a blonde dude working the topping station. Huffing and puffing the whole time and then literally throwing my wrapped sandwich on the hand off counter without looking at me or saying a word when I said thank you. This happened three times in a row and now when I go there I just don't ask for it because I hate feeling stupid or like a burden. Potbelly crew, I worked for the company for two years. I know that you have a square metal tin full of hot peppers, I know that the big plastic jar it comes in is filled to the brim with oil. You literally take the metal spoon, push down the peppers with the backside of the spoon so the oil runs over and fills the spoon. I used to have customers ask me to literally only put the carrots and cauliflower from the hot peppers mix and did that slow down my line? Yeah maybe by 30 seconds. But you make the customer happy. You can talk shit about it later if it really upsets you that much. But smile, tell them it's no problem, and just do it. Blonde dude, you wasted more time arguing with me about my request than it would've taken you to just do it. I'm sorry this is so long. It's just upsetting that now even when I want a sandwich from you I don't want to come because I don't like leaving feeling like I do the last 4 times. Half an hour later when the coffee was finally done (I was here for a breakfast meeting) they literally couldn't find a single sugar packet anywhere in the entire establishment. Plenty of pink stuff, blue stuff, yellow stuff - but no actual sugar (and the manager didn't know that blue pink & yellow stuff isnt sugar). I asked where the sugar was that they had put in the cookies the guy was peeling off a cookie sheet and the manager just glared at me. Next, I asked for oatmeal. She responded that they don't make it anymore because not enough people order it. I asked if there was anything else to eat that didn't have gluten in it and she said no. So I ordered an egg, sausage & cheese sandwich without the bread. When it finally came out of the oven 10 minutes later (they had to make the eggs, cuz they hadn't done that yet either - at 9am!) they had forgotten the cheese. So I paid almost $5 for a sausage patty & slab of egg, then walked to Starbucks, never to set foot in a Potbelly again. read more

If someone would open a Potbelly within a 35 mile radius of Memphis, TN, I swear on all that is holy I would eat there every day. My GOD do I miss this place with every ounce of my being. There are maybe 2 people that work here that don't openly hate their life. I come here exclusively out of convenience and I'm not really sure why considering I get over charged about 50% of the time I come in. If you ask about the price of something they've charged you for they can't really explain to you why it costs what it does, even if you point out the price on the menu and factor in taxes. They're just pretty unapologetically below average. I work across the street and when people ask me where they should get food I literally never once have said Potbelly. read more

Best toasted sandwich in existance. Make sure you get most of the standard toppings or you won't understand what I am talking about. Shakes are made from real ice-cream (get one and you get a free lil' butter cookie on the straw) It is also the last place on earth to try what a real pickle should taste like (get one even if you think the tank o'pickles looks strange) and to top it off Potbellys always hires real friendly weirdo's to work behind the counter so you don't have to deal with jerks! Maybe because I go every single Saturday since I've moved to Lakeview, but I have made friends with the delivery guy as well as the employees there on the Saturday morning shift. There is a particular girl who has purple hair who I hold dear to my heart as she complimented me on my dreads one morning where I felt like hell in a handbag. I had to add this location because it's my fav-o-rite (in addition to the Deerfield one I frequent during work). Potbelly rules!! Nothing beats a well-made, custom-ordered sandwich from this place. The chili beats anything I've had at any restaurant EVER. And the shakes (I love it when they yell 'Chocolate Sha-ake!'), are wonderful concoctions sent down from heaven. It can become a bit crazy sometimes with all the yuppie mamas toting their screaming children around (I'm sure I'll become one of those someday - sigh), but there seems to always be a courtyard outside each location to which you can escape, and you can often listen to local artists' soothing tunes to put you back in a peaceful mood. I am a huge potbelly fan. I always have a pleasant experience and love the food I get. However, today I went to the Southport location and am displeased. I ordered a classic BLT and multiple times the employee making my sandwhich asked me if I just wanted the classic toppings and I said yes. Just tomato, lettuce and no Mayo. when I went to the checkout the woman who had taken my order told the cashier it was a BLTA. Politely, I said "no, it's just a regular BLT" Then she turned to the cashier and said in a hushed voice "it's a BLTA". So I asked point blank "is there avocado on this sandwich?", as I do not eat avocado and they said no there was not. So I said okay it's just a BLT. Then I did my check out and left, no one gave me a receipt. When I got home and took out my sandwich, there was avocado on it. normally I do not mind a mix up with an order. But this was upsetting because it seemed almost like they just wanted to upcharge me for Something I did not want. And if it had been an accident that avocado was added I would not have minded if they were just honest. I'm pups not have had a problem at all. It was the fact that they gaslit me and charged me for something I did not want. Overall, I am unhappy. I will still eat at potbelly but not the Southport location. read more

The last time I ordered (which was online) they called me and told me that they won't accept my order because the belmont location was closer. ACTUALLY... its not. So i'm not sure what the deal was with them, but thats some bs. So i ordered from the belmont location and they were friendly but they asked why i didn't just order from the southport location seeing as it is closer. YEAH EXACTLY. Never had a problem when ordering in the store. Quick and friendly. No parking...downside. Otherwise, its just another potbellys. Not really feeling their chip choice.
