Great restaurant for families. The few times I've visited it has been fairly quiet. They offer kids menus with fun/entertaining activities and fun cups for the kids. The food itself wasn't bad but the kids definitely enjoyed their Mickey Mouse pancakes a lot more. I will say the last time I did take my friend's kids there, I felt a little uncomfortable. The male staff asked at least 3 times where the "dad" or "my husband" was even though I said it was just me and the kids. When our server (female) arrived she asked if our 4th person was coming to which I had to explain that we were not expecting anyone else and she apologized. I used to come here a hundred years ago when it was the Melrose, and it was open all night so that drunk people could come stumbling in for hash browns. It's nicer and cleaner now. And who doesn't like a breakfast place with an egg-pun name? As a fan of places that leave a thermal carafe of coffee on the table, I was pretty pleased to get a refill supply of both coffee and water to keep us hydrated. Especially helpful because it was super busy on a Sunday at noon. In fact, I didn't expect to be seated quickly since it was packed, but they got tables turned over surprisingly quickly. The bussers are carrying the show here. Chilequiles were the best thing ever... Till they weren't. I sincerely hope that someone who can fix it reads this review. There were a few chips that tasted of old oil at the bottom of the chilequiles. I desperately want better quality control here because they were so good otherwise, and I want to order it again. The chilequiles came with AMAZING black beans. Which is kind of sad because it's pretty obvious that the only thing that makes black beans AMAZING is lard. So. Not the healthiest meal. But worth it. The Fiesta salad was delightful all the way through. Nary a drop of rancid oil to be found. And probably no lard either. Both entrees were huge and filling portions. We probably should have just split one. Probably the salad. Service was fast and friendly, and we didn't feel rushed, even though they're clearly moving things along as quickly as possible. Everything is packed along this stretch of Broadway during the brunching hours. But at least here they have more tables than most places, and they know how to turn them over efficiently. read more

I'm surprised I haven't left a review yet! I've been here at least a dozen times - it's an incredibly reliable breakfast restaurant in Lakeview East. It's always busy, but we've never had to wait to be seated. The service is fast and friendly. I can only vouch for their omelettes, but I've tried many of them - all of them amazing. And you have the option of making them with egg whites. You really can't go wrong here. They come with the option of 2 sides (I usually go with fruit cup and toast). The coffee and juice are great too. Overall, this place is stellar - good food at a good price with good service. I plan to keep coming! read more

The seating service to a single diner was disrespectful and not prioritized. I was treated as though requesting table service was an inconvenience. I was told that I would have to wait an indeterminable amount of time for a two-seat table (located predominantly by the kitchen and bathroom). Meanwhile, two party diners were being seated. I was seated when I noted that if two party diners could be seated, so could I. Towards the end of my meal, I was asked to change tables to accommodate a larger party. No one offered to help transfer me to the new table. Instead, my drink was bussed away and not immediately replaced. Upon commenting upon my treatment, I was essentially informed that all restaurants do this, seating me was a favor, and that the larger party was lost because of me. The host/manager took back the last point and tried to gaslight me into believing he had never said this. read more

First and Foremost the food is pretty good, but the portions have been downsized and the prices have increased. Secondly; the waitstaff is always good and friendly. The problem is and was specifically with the manager. Upon entering the outdoor patio we were told that we had to move to a smaller table. The manager was ignoring the fact that we had 2 lg. dogs+2ppl. We moved to a smaller table and within 5 min. another couple came to the patio without dogs and was told; "sit wherever you want". We then ordered our food and ordered 3 scrambled eggs for the dogs. We said; "for the dogs". When the food came we set the plate on the ground for the dogs. The mgr. came outside with his 9-10 yo son in tow; and proceeded to scold us for feeding the dogs off the plate. I said; we ordered it, "for the dogs", and that is how it was served to us. Our Golden Retriever wanted to say hello to the mgrs son; but when our dog friendly greeted the child he jumped back in fear. Obviously; the manager has no dogs and has raised his child to be scared of dogs. Again the waitress apologized for not serving us on a to-go container. The manager should have apologized for his bad attitude and discriminatory behavior. We were eating there 2-4x per month; but will never return. read more

Everything is priced like a complete meal, but don't be fooled -- every basic component is an 'add-on' with its own inflated fee. Want a meat protein with your entree~ that's an extra $6. The two egg entree is a base of $11 but is unclear on what the included sides include and instead have a large list of additional charge side options at an extra charge. By the time the bill arrives, you'll feel like you accidentally ordered multiple entrees for the quality of food that is at best on par with iHop. The pricing shows as $11 each and to pick one side with choice of toast or pancakes; however, you have to be mindful they're charging for each side individually. If you want meat as a side, tack on $6. If you want potatoes, tack on $3. What I thought would be a $25 meal came out to $50 thanks to misleading text on their menu. The quality did not reflect this price neither, and was subpar to Dennys. Beware ordering from this place, as they will charge extra in unexpected ways. The manager was no better in hearing our complaints either, he kept talking over us and refused to understand how the text was unclear to us. He eventually walked away mid-conversation without helping us. I do not recommend going here. It's better to go to a different diner down the same street. read more

NOT RECOMMENDED! I mostly review on G--gle, I'm a G--gle Guide 173 reviews all 4-5 star except this one. If you can imagine this: you order something and it says "pulled chicken stewed in ranchero sauce". But what you get are cubes of ultra dry, over grilled, stringy, chicken pieces with not a speck of ranchero sauce. You wave the server over and say ahem, and explain this is not what is on the menu (and you show him the menu to prove it) and he says caustically "but that's just the way we make it". Then you suggest it's not fair to serve something that's totally different than what is described on the menu and you say I no longer want this I'll pay for 1 of the 3 tacos because I ate some of one thank you. Then the server talks to the manager and comes back and says "you have to pay for all three tacos". Ok... You politely say it's not ethical to print something in the menu and then not serve it as described and politely say I will pay for the one taco I "ate" thank you. Then a few moments later you see (and this really happened) a police squad pull up and two officers come in and ask what happened. Then you explain to the officers what happened. The officers say to the server "he ate one taco, did not like it, he pays for one taco, goodbye". Then the server calls the manager and the server says "the manager said don't ever come in here again". Lovely. Never in my wildest imagination could I have thought up such a scenario. Police resources are precious and officers do not deserve to be dragged into absurd problems like this. anyone who would pull this kind of thing, well you draw your own conclusions. So in MY conclusion, I not only NOT recommend this place but would recommend you stay away. There are many many other eateries who truly value their customers. Going here was a great Eggsperience. The service was quick and there was no wait to get seated. The place itself was very clean and had a diner feel to it. As for the food, I ordered the butcher block omelette that came with two pancakes and a hash brown all for $15. To me this was a great price considering the generous portions. This is a hard review to write, for this place has so much potential. We just moved near this spot and were hopeful even though the reviews on Yelp were mixed; it was mainly service. This is true. The main issue the entire time was reliability. I understand hostesses are young, but this woman was running around laughing and going in and out of the back, so many waiters then had to help out. Once seated, my server asked what drink I'd like right away. I told him and then he said, "wanna just order now?" I said let me wait. He said take your time. He was then gone for ten whole minutes. Many tables were open and tried to give him grace. I got the Broadway sandwich and added avocado. Flavor was nice with the chives and caramelized onion. The Yukon potatoes were amazing and seasoned perfectly. Sadly, my Diet Coke was empty for almost the entirety of the meal. I was done before he came back. I asked for one anyway. I've been happily coming to Eggsperience for years, but today's service and food fell way short. There is one server who always wears an orange shirt. He is consistently fantastic and that is who we typically have. We did not have him today, and no one came to take our drink order for 10 minutes after we sat down until he said something to the floor staff. Our server did the bare minimum and once we got our food did not check on us again until was time to pay the check. Had he checked, he would have known the fried eggs I ordered medium were completely runny. The omelette my wife ordered was watery--probably from the veggies not being cooked properly. They have great juice blends, a good chicken Cesar salad, solid gluten free pancakes and decent French toast. If you're ordering from here, I'd stick with easy to prepare foods and get carry out. We typically always leave a nice tip, but their service was so poor our tip today had to reflect that. Too bad they aren't better considering the location. read more

I have had some not so great experiences here, but the old wait staff worked hard to make things right. I love a good eggs benedict and this place has been sooo hit or miss forever. I ordered delivery. First off, if you are charging $7 for a side of bacon there should be more than 3 pieces! What is this Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood or Beverly Hills now?! This in the former Melrose location on Melrose in Chicago!!! If you are only going to give three slices for $7, state it on your menu!!! Dear lord! Second, the side order of sliced avocado was rotten and dirty! That went straight to the garbage. Third, (this was the biggest issue) the Greek Omelet is one big soggy and leaky mess! There was literally liquid in the container it was delivered in. When cutting into it, it would fall apart while cutting. Way too much spinach in it and didn't seem like much Feta. Feta did not seem imported and seemed like American feta. Small amount of Kalamata olives in it and what was in it didn't taste or look like Kalamata olives, they looked and tasted like generic black olives. The tomatoes seemed ok though. The spinach was completely raw. The only things that were acceptable about this food was the Greek toast and my delivery driver was good. Find the review made by the chef customer here. Guide dogs are welcome to businesses that cater to the public. We walked in at Eggsperience this morning and was almost turned away because of my son's guide dog. I insisted that by law they have to accommodate us. The wait person had to ask his manager. This has happened a few times at various restaurants in Chicago. Came to Eggsperience on a relatively busy Sunday morning. The experience was chaotic to say the least. First, the communication from staff was terrible. My party was advised to wait until our table was cleaned before being seated. While we waited, some other part was seated at our table. Thus, we had to wait for another table to open up. Then, our waitress was extremely inattentive. She took 20 minutes after dropping off the water to come back to place our orders. I understand that the restaurant was busy but that was just unacceptable. She never even checked on our party. We had to ask another waiter to get a cup of water for a member in our party. It took 40 minutes of waiting before she brought utensils to the other members of our party. At this point, I was just hoping that the food was good. My party had started this chaotic experience at 11:30. It's now 12:24 and the food hasn't arrived. Around 12:30, the food arrived. It was delicious. Well worth the long wait. I cleaned my entire plate. Good flavors and beautiful presentation. Overall, I'd say the issue was timing when my party arrived. I'd love to try Eggsperience again when it's not as busy. read more

Eggsperience Cafe is definitely an experience. Sorry, but I couldn't help myself! My fiance and I enjoyed our visit to Eggsperience. We had been wanting to visit since we saw they were going to be replacing a diner that had suddenly closed. When we first walked into the restaurant the furniture was a definite upgrade. The furniture was brand new and the place looked a little more airy and bright. It is a very welcoming place that is perfect on a sunny day. The food is priced along the lines of what you would normally see in Lakeview or Lincoln Park. They have some cheap options but also some options that are a little more than you would normally pay for breakfast. The coffee was surprisingly good for a diner. That was a plus. When I visited it was slightly crowded, not surprising for a busy Saturday. It felt like we were a little on top of the other customers because they were so busy and we were next to a large family. Both my fiance and I ordered a skillet. I am a fan of skillets because they give you a random assortment of flavors that you normally wouldn't get with some breakfast dishes. The food portions are rather large, you can easily get a second meal out of the dish. I was easily able to take at least half of my food to-go. The skillet I got was a little flavorless. It wasn't bad but I had to put a lot of hot sauce and ketchup to give it a little more flavor. It was unfortunately the type of food that was not memorable. I could see myself visiting Eggsperience again if I am in the neighborhood and want to show my friends a cute restaurant. read more
