This is a solid Potbelly! Somewhat fast customer service and delicious sandwiches. My chicken sandwich was packed with flavor especially since I added their new Pepper Ranch! It is the perfect sauce to spice up your normal sandwich. Great deal of $8 for a skinny sub (good size), chips, and a drink! That's really hard to beat in D.C. The only downfall of this location is their restrooms. They're located down this long creepy hallway and were far from clean.... Otherwise, the restaurant was very clean! read more

Ate here with Steven and the sandwiches were really good! Surprised that I have not heard of this chain. A bit pricey, though. And the staff forgot to make my milkshake, but still charged me for it. I had to wait back in line to pick it up fr the front, but at least they let me do a blend of chocolate and strawberry flavors. They have the New Orleans (NOLA) chips, which Steven thought to be yummy. I just wish that the sandwiches were bigger in size because they were not filling. Steven said that this restaurant had the best wrap that he has ever eaten, but just too small in size. Paid $38 for this meal in total, but I guess that is how downtown restaurants be. My favorite location by far!! I've eaten at this location three times and they always get it right. My chicken salad sandwich on medium bread is my favorite. I love the sweet red peppers and cucumbers and lettuce which helps gives me the crunch and makes it fresh. I get the double chocolate cookie . I think their skinny options are also great. Paid $14 through Grub Hub for a slim turkey breast sandwich and half Farmers salad. Came to the M street location only to discover I ordered from the L street location, some 15 minute walk away, on a cold, windy, rainy day. The turkey breast sandwich went well with the fresh multigrain bread, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and seasoning. Plenty of flavor and taste without mayo. The Farmhouse salad grilled chicken to go with shredded bacon, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, chopped eggs. Only fault was I said no cheese, and had to toss out the feta cheese bit by bit. Also ranch dressing ordered but missing, which I didn't discover until walking 15 minutes home. (Cheapest food I found in DC) I spent $8.79 for the skinny combo (Little Turkey Sub + chips + medium foundation drink). My boyfriend spent $12.30 for a skinny Italian sub + chips + medium fountain drink. My main critique is that I told the worker what toppings I wanted twice and still ended up with the wrong topics. Not a huge deal tho and everything else was correct. Don't know if I'll go again, but it was nice to find something in the city under $9. read more

I think we're already established that I'm pretty much the number one fan of Potbelly's oatmeal chocolate cookie. And we're also very familiar with my amazing lack of willpower when it comes to limiting my food intake when I go out to eat. Thus, when coworkers suggested we go to Potbelly, I was elated and tormented. Do I go, knowing that I'm going to get way more food than I should? Or do I not go, and miss out on the amazingness of the POCCC?! Fallible willpower succumbs again. This place is kind of a madhouse for lunch. The line easily stretches from the cashiers, back through the sandwich-making stations, around the corner and back out through the dining room, then out the front door. If you stand in line for a minute, though, you'll discover that it scoots right along! I think their efficiency is driven by the fact that they have a dedicated "greeter" (I can't think of a better word) that takes your order the moment you get in line, then sends off sheet after sheet of order lists to the sandwich artistes, so they're in constant production, even before you make it up to the station where you pick your toppings. The dusty remnants of the industrial engineer in me totally approved of this queue design. What else is there to say?! Drinks are located before you order, and chips are located between ordering and adding veggies. The sandwiches taste pretty standard. Toasted bread, choice of whole grain, and the few standards. I was walking around browsing for restaurants to eat at and their shop caught my attention. It was their poster promoting their new bbq pulled pork sandwich to be exact. So I decided to give it a go. Their workers are very nice. I told the lady making my sandwich of my dairy allergy and so she switched her gloves and made sure there was no dairy in my sandwich. Other than the default of pulled pork, bbq sauce, and spicy jalapeño crisps, I added lettuce and pickles. The crisps were like mini French fries or chips. It was a nice touch. I ordered a big and my sandwich was so good. I wish they had bigger sizes. The sub was a nice blend of sweet and spicy taste with the juiciness of the pork. The crisps added that extra crunch which I really like. TIL that this sub, Spicy BBG Pulled Pork and the Classic version are available for a limited time only. I ordered a few sandwiches from here during the week for my coworkers and I and for my first time having a sandwich from here the meatball mozzarella's almost had no marinara sauce on it. it was quite dry as if no one cared to use the sauce. My coworker got a Turkey and Swiss and it didn't come with the Swiss and they then toppings she asked for as well for the second time around when we ordered. If I could give this place a zero I would. I went in to grab a quick late lunch thinking it was a safe bet. After I ordered, I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye but tried to think nothing of it. Then I saw it again. The worker saw me looking at it and seemed uncomfortable. I just find this place to be overrated. The line at this location is always unbearably long, out the door. And don't even think about skipping the line if you just only want to get a cookie or milkshake because you will get all types of side-eyes walking towards the register. I was sure that Quiznos was the best sandwich chain until this day. It was a hot summer day, and I was low on cash from doing an unpaid internship (like most other kids who come to DC for the summer). I saw the cheap prices at Potbelly and figured, "what the heck. it'll be a nice change from Subway." So, I went in and got a turkey sandwich with all the veggies, mustard, and the italian seasoning that makes it oh-so-good. With my first bite, I was hooked. All summer-long I ate at Potbelly...like, probably 5 times a week. It was an addiction. And then I returned to California after the summer ended, and I went through some serious withdrawal. I no longer wanted In-n-Out. I didn't even care that I could get it. I just wanted Potbelly! A whole 2 years later I'm back in DC and truly relieved that I can just walk a few blocks to this location of Potbelly. I really don't understand the hype over this place. Nothing about this chain screams appetizing to me. Every location is dark and dingy-looking. I finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot since this location is only a block from my job. I went with the meatball sandwich so I could compare it to the Subway version. All the employees I came face-to-face with spoke in soft whispers so I felt like an old lady with a hearing problem when I had to ask every single one of them at the counter and register to speak up. As for the sandwich, it was dry and bland. In fact, those were some of the driest and blandest meatballs I have ever tasted. (Yes, I know how that sounds and I'm keeping it that way.) The only saving grace at Potbelly's is their chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. It earned them an extra star from me.
