1/2 chicken with Peri tamer sauce, mac & cheese with no breadcrumbs and mashed potatoes

Food is great. Guy standing at the front gave great service and instructions. Choosing the right sauce is a bit challenging but once you find a good sauce, you're gonna be happy. I get the peri tamer sauce. The seating is nice and spacious.

Now that I have fulfilled my One Direction fantasy, I can officially say that Nando's is worth the hype. First, can we just talk about their artist program? Art on the walls is great, it's amazing to know that it's a chain that has the largest collection of African art, what other conglomerate is able to have such a unique attachment to their name? And the art is good. Intellectual and visually stimulating. Now the food. It's so good it's going to be a go to for me. I love how the chicken is flame cooked to order, it's very unique to find a chain that still does this and I have really grown to miss the chicken being charred when I'm at an alternative chicken spot. The sauces are so zesty and acidic. It's a great pairing with the chicken and it coats the sauce very well, I recommend getting extra if you have a chance. The chicken really is everything, it's well seasoned and you should try it in every way they present it. The menu is varied enough where you can try different ways to enjoy their famous chicken. Sides were a good compliment, and very unique to other chain offerings. Use this as a chance to make your chicken eating experience vibrant and explosive with flavors! So far, after going to multiple locations the quality is up to par so take advantage that this may be conveniently located.

    Very inviting inside and out.

Good solid meal! Tons of healthy options. Super clean and staff was very friendly. I got the peri-peri bowl and it was tasty! Rice was so good. Also tried out the fries and cauliflower, both of which were good. Cauliflower was a tad spicy so beware if you aren't into spice. Stars of the show were the hibiscus lemonade and the Portugese tart for dessert. I was so excited to try it I forgot to take a picture. They are small so my tip is not to share. :)

First time at Nando's. Loved it. Perfect Cole slaw. Chicken was tender and flavorful (got medium). The medium is pretty mild so don't worry about too much spice. Order extra hot if you want. Wish they had one in California.

I've been going to Nando's for years - literally since 2001 when I was at university in London. So, I like to think of myself as a Nando's connoisseur! One thing I've realised is that the quality of the food and the experience varies sooooo much depending on which branch you go to. Unfortunately this branch at Woodley Park looks great, but the quality of the food really fell flat for me. The chicken was super duper dry, and I ordered two legs to try and avoid this. You really have to overcook dark meat for it to be dry . In fact, from the video you can see how dry the drumstick is . The fries (chips) were not hot, they were luke warm and the halloumi was the same lukewarm warm temperature. Nooooo thanks. Luckily this is not my local Nando's.

The chicken skewer is great but the livers are just okay. Portuguese rice and fries taste good! Service and ambiance is nice, will be back again!

The menu is very interesting. The food was delicious and fresh. It was great for a light meal. We ordered online and got a free appetizer. Good outdoor seating!

Stunningly tasty food. I'd never heard of peri-peri sauce before this but I'm hooked! Perfect atmosphere and prices!

This is the the front of the restaurant

The restaurant had a variety of hot sauces and had a cool system for ordering. The place looked like a place that you would find some where very hot. The food was a little spicy though. I had the Mac and cheese and I think the chicken would be a better choice. But the fries were amazing.

One of my husband's old roommates used to rave about this place and how much he missed it. So when we went to DC, we felt like we had to try it. I got PERİ Chips and 3 Thighs (medium). The chicken was cooked well and had good flavor. I can't say it was anything that exciting though. It was just a good grilled chicken. Maybe I would have enjoyed a sandwich a bit more? The chips (fries) were seasoned well. For fast food, this is definitely healthier than other options and tastes good. I wouldn't say I'd go out of my way to come here though.

Decent casual chicken spot. Chicken was kind of dry. Fries were delicious and seasoned well. I wouldn't get the rice again, it was slightly bitter. Good atmosphere, booths are comfortable and music was culturally relevant to the cuisine, which was a nice touch.

    Spicy Chicken Kale Caesar

Service is nice but my second time coming here my food was not good at all, which is a shame because I really enjoyed my first visit. I ordered the spicy kale Caesar wrap where the first red flag was there was no kale. Too much sauce, too much cheese, shredded lettuce instead of kale and missing some of the included topping. This is my favorite menu item but I couldn't eat this.

I was with a group of 10 from Africa and they all said we had to go to Nando's - apparently a South African staple. I ordered the bowl with shredded chicken which comes over a bed of arugula, with charred corn. It was very tasty, I especially liked the cucumbers which were marinated in some type of vinaigrette. The Portuguese rice was also very tasty. Lots of atmosphere for a chain restaurant, great location on Connecticut Avenue, they have different sauces on the tables that you can put on your chicken or fries or rice, which was really nice. Varying degrees of hotness. Indoor and outdoor seating, prices were very reasonable.

Ordered the Eggs Silsi with French bread. By default the dish had three eggs, but I asked for just two eggs. The dish was basically scrambled eggs with tomato sauce, green peppers, onion and berbere sauce. It was very fluffy, similar to a Sabzi kookoo. It tasted spicy, earthy and a bit smoky. Compared to Turksih Menemen, it was drier, spicier and earthier, and had no cheese. The French bread was nice and hot. Spreading some eggs silsi on the bread and it was heavenly! Moreover, the restaurant was small but very clean. The staff was friendly. Highly recommended if you want some African cafe food!

I was…read morereally hungry and thrilled to finally be checking out this Eritrean restaurant that has been open in DC since 1987. 1987, y'all. That's almost 40 years, and that says a lot. The restaurant is casual and comfortable, with big front windows that keep the small but long restaurant light and bright. And the service was friendly throughout. But the food is why we were there. We each started with a cappuccino, which was great after our drive and with our brunch meal. And then - shockingly - we both ordered the same thing: Ful with eggs. Ful is a dish popular across parts of the Middle East and North Africa made from stewed fava beans. It's often eaten for breakfast. When I had Ful for the first time many years ago, I fell in love. And whenever I see it on a menu, I'm done with research and options - that's it, that's where I'm going, that's what I'm ordering. Keren's Ful is topped with fresh tomatoes, raw onion, raw jalapeno, creamy yogurt, and olive oil, and then you can choose to top the dish with eggs, tuna, or sardines, or served alongside a salad. The beans (made with Berbere spice) are the obvious star of the dish, and Keren's version of one of my favorite breakfasts was delicious, warm, comforting, filling... I loved it. It's a big bowl (and served with some great French rolls), so we weren't able to finish every last bite, which made me a little sad, because it was delicious. They have a full menu for breakfast (which they serve all day, every day) and then a full menu of other items (including combo platters). I loved my Ful, and I'd go back for that alone. But I'd also love to return to try more of their menu. Maybe with more than one friend next time so we can share and enjoy more of their Eritrean food and hospitality.

Unfortunately, this location didn't hold up. The ordering process was a mess from the start. They were out of boneless chicken, so we pivoted to a half chicken... only to be told they were out of that too. Then it turned out they did have it. We ordered the hummus appetizer and got the side portion instead, which meant another trip to the counter to sort it out. We ordered medium peri peri sauce and got something noticeably spicier. Too tired and hungry to send it back, we just ate it... and the meal just didn't hit the way Nando's usually does. The mushy peas we'd been looking forward to aren't even on the menu anymore, which was its own small disappointment. On the bright side, I ordered a 5 oz glass of wine and got what looked like a double pour. Not complaining... but it does sum up the vibe. The staff seemed indifferent, whether it was end-of-night fatigue or just an off-night, hard to say. We'll probably give Nando's another shot elsewhere, but this DC visit was disappointing enough that I can't really recommend this location.

They have gender neutral restrooms; two stalls total. Both restrooms were in great need of cleaning with a LOT of bodily fluids all along the toilets and floors. Also, there was no option for hand towels, only an air blower to dry your hands, which is one of the most disgusting ways to dry freshly washed hands. The spiced coating on the Plantains and lightly spiced peanuts do not overtake the sweet kiss of the fried Plantains, although, some will be more Tostones-flavored and textured. They are also good with the sauces that come with the Chofi. Chofi's fried turkey tails. Similar to Chicharron de Pollo but smaller and a tad fattier. The Waakye gives three (3) large succulent Oxtail smothered in Gari. The Rice & Peas (Red Red) (Red Black Eyed Peas) and a Jollof-styled Rice (without the spice), which was good. The Red Red are DELISH. We're a legume family. The Elmina Spicy Chicken is really for two (2), A LOT! Stewed in a savory but spicy red pepper sauce. DIVINE. We added a side of Jollof, which honestly, it should automatically come with, considering the price. FANTASTIC dishes together! After all of that, no room for dessert, although we were gonna get the Malva cake. It does come with ice cream and we simply had no room. We took everything for leftovers because it's that much food. It is a $24.95 flat price offering an appetizer, entree and dessert for that price. (Only available Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 5-6:30 pm). There were about 6 choices each for appetizers and entrees and 3 for dessert. My companion had a mussel appetizer and I had French Onion soup. My soup was a great example of the classic preparation. Bubbly and browned cheese over a deeply flavorful broth of onions and a slice of French bread. My companion loved the mussels. As to the entree I had what was called Beef Diane, a twist on the classic Steak Diane. It consisted of tips of filet in a delicious gravy flavored with cognac. My companion had Rainbow Trout and was very happy with it. For dessert we both had cheesecake with strawberry sauce. A good example of a New York style cheesecake. Both entrees were served with well cooked mixed vegetables. The portions were not a scaled down size but normal size. The meal comes with fresh baked toasted bread served warm. Delicious. The service was attentive which was to be expected because there were only 3 tables occupied. A complimentary shot of a what I think was kahlua was served at the end of the meal. The atmosphere is lots of dark wood and a classic bar. Great food and a great experience. Don't pass up this great value!!

I cannot believe that I have lived within walking distance to this restaurant for the past three…read moreyears and never have visited. Hey, better late than never. Because of an unexpected change of plans, we decided to have a weekend dinner here, and it turned out to be a great decision - based on the food and service. What really worked for us was that the restaurant has a few outdoor tables, and the outdoor seating is dog-friendly. First, the restaurant has a pretty extensive menu with diverse options. I will admit that I was a bit overwhelmed when the waitress mentioned all of the specials for the evening. It seemed as the list kept going, going and going. Also, the restaurant has a dinner special for about 35 bucks that includes either a 3 course meal or a 2 course meal + a glass of wine. For my dining pleasure, I went with the baked (or maybe it was broiled) flounder that was served with potatoes and green beans. Overall, I thought my meal was absolutely delicious. I do wish the portions were slightly larger. Overall, I thought the service was absolutely wonderful. Our waitress was very friendly and constantly checked in with us to make sure everything was going well. Although we visited around 5:30 pm on a Saturday, I was a bit surpised with how crowed the restaurant became around 6:30 pm. If you are planning to visit around this time, I highly recommend making reservations even though this section of Wheaton can be relatively quiet. Also, the restaurant seems to be very popular with the eldery community. During our visit, I'd say the average age of diners was somewhere in the 60s.
