These guys are GREAT! When my car was having trouble, their techs actually got into it and did some serious troubleshooting. Instead of just "throwing parts at it" like other shops have done in the past, these guys really dug into the problem and fixed it! Instead of looking at the first check engine light and attempting to resolve that issue first, they looked at the big picture and determined that there was one main problem and focused on that. After that, everything else sorted itself out. Even when my car was stuck on the side of the road, a quick call to them got me in contact with their to truck guy who towed my car for a reasonable price. I've spoken to the management a few times. He's a good guy, professional and friendly. He goes above and beyond to ensure that his customers are happy. I've always been hesitant to bring my car to a service station based on past experiences but Potomac Mills Mobil has changed that for me. I got my truck inspected in November. I asked the inspector to check my brakes because I heard a strange sound when I applied the brakes. when he was done I asked again about the brakes and he told me it passed. well 5 weeks later my truck sounded like it was falling apart. I had a mechanic check my brakes and I didn't hav any brakes on the rear of my truck. it was metal to metal and hardly had any brakes on the other wheels. I had to have all my brakes and rotors replace. the inspector didn't tell me I needed the brakes or rotors replaced. This is unacceptable and very dangerous. Horrible!! stay away!!!! sign says open for inspection at 9:30am. waited from 9:15am until the inspector decided to show up at 10:40am!! than the inspector is arguing with the owner about his pay. all while 4+ cars are waiting for inspections. highly unprofessional place. read more

Do not trust this place to do a state inspection. if I could have not given any stars, I would have ...I bought a vehicle from a used dealership City Financial Cars LLC (do not go there either). Potomac Mills Mobil passed an inspection on my car that Virginia State Police clearly says should have never passed! Pictures below. The best part is that the inspection sticker on the windshield was never filled out on the back, I had to get VSP to find out who inspected it. The dealership is in Fredericksburg VA, but they drove all the way to Woodbridge to get an inspection. Hmmm fishy. read more

I called ahead to inquire when they would stop doing state inspections for the day. They stated 3pm. I arrived at 1:42 and started waiting in line behind 4 cars. After about 30 min of waiting an employee comes out, walks up to the car waiting in front of me, and tapes a piece of paper that states "Last Car. Closed For The Day".. there were no cars behind me and so I inquired why I wouldn't be the last car serviced after waiting for 30min with everyone else. The employee just shrugged. Went for car inspection and guy named "love" failed the inspection for tires which later I bought new. Than, it was passed at same location. 1 week later weird sound started coming while applying brakes. After opening the brake caliper I found brake pads were 0% left and they were grinding my rotor. Damaged the rotors and had to buy new rotors and brake pad. I can't believe this guy neglected to inspect my car brake pads which is a serious safety concern. Not only that, he's not able to run the shop himself. One of the time when I was in line for inspection, after 15 minutes of wait time he came rushing towards me in a customer's car just to say "we're closed". At this time it was 2:30 and 2 cars were in front of me. I've always used this location but when I go on weekdays there's a guy Manish, who's very customer service oriented and always puts a cone behind the last car he'll take this way you know he's done. He always open up the tires to make sure pads are in good condition as well as rotors. I'm never going on a weekend when other person is there. If you're in need of inspection/emission, make sure to go on a weekday and see Manish. That's my go to guy from now on. read more

I took my Hyundai here for a state inspection in November 2020 and it was rejected for a defective left front ball joint. When the inspector told me this he said their mechanic would give me an estimate for repair. I took the vehicle to Hometown Auto and they said there was absolutely NOTHING WRONG with the ball joint. Definitely your go-to now..... New management, excellent customer service, and during the warmer seasons, there are car/bike meets held. Management ensures the safety and cleanliness at every meet .... Actually, in general. The small events here can be a great weekend activity for families to observe some of the work of the bike and automotive communities. We use this place every year for our inspection. I have never had them try to rip me off, our car has always passed, it's always been quick and efficient. As someone who hates dealing with mechanics, I have no problems coming here. They also have a Husky that walks around the maintenance bay and inside the shop which I just love. Very honest and very stand up station ! We have 6 child care centers so we have about 20 vans , and I've been taking my vans there for inspection for years !! Even back when Greg was the inspector (rest in peace) anyways they have always been very good to me , they have replaced light bulbs for no charge for me and have always gone above and beyond! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE TO GET YOUR CAR INSPECTED. I went there on 1/31. They failed my car for a cracked drives belt and quoted me $100 for labor, $65 for the belt, and a $6 shop supply fee...whatever the hell that means. I went to Advanced Auto Parts, the same place they order their parts from, according to the cashier, and bought the belt for $35. I had my family mechanic put the belt, it took him like 30 minutes and he only charged me $20. I came back today 2/15 to get my car reinspected and those rip offs TRIED to charge me the $16 inpection fee again, instead of $1. The guy tried to tell me that since it was the 15th day I had to pay the $16. Ummm no. The day that you get the car inspected doesn't count. The law says "The validity period of the rejection sticker shall be 15 days in addition to the day of inspection" key words IN ADDITION. I called the Virginia State Police and they had to tell him to only charge me $1. They must think that I'm stupid or that females don't know anything. They won't be getting my business and I hope that others won't give them theirs due to the mere fact that they are ripping people off. read more

Today was my first experience with the service center, and being the daughter of a retired mechanic and the daughter in law of a retired mechanic, I am BEYOND selective of where I take my vehicles for servicing. The customer service was fantastic, the crew highly knowledgeable, and they stayed true to their word on the time frame turn around, dropped off this AM, picked up this PM. Truly a top class act, a great find in this area that I will be going to for future automobile needs, and the fact that it's directly across from my 9-5 is just an even bigger plus! For inspection and emissions services I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs. They have a man, Mohammad, doing them who will purposely fail you to make money off of you. He's done this to us twice and we will not be going back there. He failed my sister a year ago telling her she needed brakes and that the tires were bad. He told her if she had him change her brakes for a ridiculous price he would pass her anyway. So we declined the offer, took it home and changed the brakes ourselves. Let me remind you we didn't do anything with the tires but that's what he also failed her on. We took it back and he passed it just like that. Today my mother took her truck to be inspected. He did the same thing. He failed her for burnt out day lights, "stripped" windshield wipers and a "leaking" power steering tube. He asked to talk to her in private and made an offer. If she had him change the burnt out day lights for $20 a light he would pass her anyway. This man is a scam artist and he won't hesitate to disrespect you and tell you if you don't like it go somewhere else. Dear Love R., I appreciate your response but regarding my sister's car that was the only place she took it to. We wouldn't fail at one place and then take it to another knowing it would fail again. What your employee is doing is illegal, offering to fix only one minor issue for an expensive price and turning his head on the bigger issues he claims the car had and passing the vehicle only if the customer accepts that offer. Do not get an inspection here. Mike will try to rip you off. He will find issues that no reputable car shop would fail you for. He got me for leaking power steering hose and foggy headlights. He was also trying to say my engine mount was bad. I've passed for 5 years with my power steering hose. He said he would fail me and would include other worse problems if I didn't pay. I would have give them zero stars if I could. Had a state inspection a couple months ago and they told me my right tire rod needed replaced to pass inspection. Of course a serious safety issue so I went ahead and had it done. Flash forward to today, my steering wheel has been real shaking when I drive so I decided to get my 4 tires changed thinking that was the issue. Come to find out, when changing my tires, the right tire rod was still old and only had new bolts on it!!!! These mother f**** didn't give me a new tire rod but only new bolts!!! Horrible Service. Workmanship is shotty at best. They don t back their work. Had tires mounted and balanced. 24 hrs later I noticed one of the valve stems was leaking. Took the tire back and they wanted to charge me $13 to replace the valve stems after i already had pad them 24 hours before. Run from this place!!! They are constently changing there affliation. Was a Exxon then a Chevron and now they are a Mobil station. If I could give a 0 star rating i would. Don t give them your business, run from this place as fast as you can. read more
