The carpet is great. The service was not. Came to install carpet in our upstairs and was 20 feet too short after pulling up all the old carpet. Had enough to do 70% of it and had to place another order for the rest. This was on a Saturday - so I waited for a call on Monday to let me know about the order for the rest of the carpet. No call - I had to call them. On Tuesday our salesman was back in the office (Wayne). I thought for sure he would call and touch base - just to let me know he is aware of the problem. No call from him, either. Again, I called to follow up. Took about 12 days to get the rest of the carpet installed. Mistakes happen - but the lack of communication was frustrating. Very nice carpet - but very poor service and communication. For that reason, I would not recommend. read more

We ended up having a very short timeframe that we needed some carpet installed and Potomac Tile & Carpet could not accommodate which was 100% understandable. After looking at carpets elsewhere called Potomac back to see if they had a particular sample in the showroom but they unfortunately didn't have it. The issue I have is with the person who was "helping me" on the phone. Bob was responsive in returning my call after checking for the carpet style but his tone got snippy towards the end of the call where he might as well hung up on me. 1. Spelled out my name 7 times and STILL got it it wrong. I gave up in the end considering it wasn't going on any paperwork. 2. Told me I was unreasonable (with my timeline) numerous times on a 3 minute call. If your company is not available, then you're not available. 3. Was phishing for information asking "why did you call back asking about carpet style" (after my initial call about the feasibility of an early install). I have heard good things about the company but this particular person Bob who I had the "pleasure" of talking has made me think twice about doing business with them. read more

Positive: company worked with me on flooring pricing when I presented a competing lower internet price quote. Didn't meet the lower price but came down some. I preferred to buy locally so I bought here at a higher cost. Negative: they told me I could return any full unopened boxes so I bought liberally. Ended up with 1 full box and 7 or 8 extra planks. They would not take back and refund the full box. Even asked for a credit as I was going to buy more tiles for another room. they said no. So only advice is question what they may tell you on returns and measure well to reduce overage. read more

Sales team great, installation not great, no communication, trash and large pile of debris left all week, showed up on a Friday at 730pm unannounced wanting to finish because he had another job and that was convenient for him, then rude and disrespectful when we said no. This place has terrible customer service. I went in there looking for flooring for my basement. They have a sign on the door that says to ask them to put on a mask, if we like. So I asked the sales person to put on a mask. He gave me such an attitude, rummaging through his desk for a mask and muttering "ridiculous" under his breath. Place has decent selection of flooring and carpeting etc. but the sales staff & floor room service is a bad joke. When asking about the availability of a certain tile the salesman said he wouldn't even attempt to contact his factory rep. He said a sample board was on loan to a contractor and he would call me when it came in. I said I lived 20 miles away and to please send a text photo of it but he said he couldn't as he only had a personal cell phone and wouldn't use it. Really??! This is 2021 and it's how business is done. The two owners are always on local cable TV advertisements professing how great and helpful they are. Came in here looking for tile for our kitchen and the employee on duty was anything but helpful. In fact, he didn't even ask us what the tile we were looking over was for. We were the only people in the store, and my husband and I felt as though he was annoyed we had even come in. Since we weren't being helped, we left. Horrible service you have to wait about 30 mins for someone to come help you . All of their tiles are on special order and u r not able to return left overs . They calculated the sq feet and the boxes I would need and ordered 4 extra boxes of tiles which are no use to me since I can't return it . Avoid this place and go to Home Depot or Lowe's . read more

Terrible customer service. I had to have new carpeting installed. The salesman never told me that I would need a special vacuum cleaner to vacuum the new carpeting. Besides that, the carpet installers arrived to install the new carpet, but they said they did not know they were installing carpeting in a townhouse. For some unknown reason, they thought that I should have moved the furniture, and cleaned the concrete slab which the salesman (Bob) told me they would do. They wanted to place my good leather furniture outside, but had no plan on how to keep it from getting debris, or anything else off it. Thunderstorms were predicted for that day. I called Potomac Tile and carpet, and the salesman was talking to me and the owner at the same time which was annoying. I asked the installers to put the furniture in the garage, but they said it would not fit through the doors...funny because that is how it was delivered. They had to reschedule. When the carpet installers arrived, once again they complained about moving the furniture, cleaning the slab, and reseting the furniture. I said, " I was told they were responsible to do this, and if they had a problem to take it up with Potomac Tile and Carpet." I wanted to know what their plan was for moving the furniture (because it was good furniture) and installing the carpet. The installer, I believe his name was Alfredo, told me I was difficult to work with. He asked if I had a husband and children. I replied yes, and he said "OMG, I feel sorry for them." Then he asked how much I spent on my furniture, and proceeded to tell me that he worked on more expensive places than my home. He complained how he had to pay some other lady $150 for a $50 chair that she bought at Walmart. When they finished, I signed the paperwork, because I just wanted them out of my home. If that was not enough, after the carpet was installed a week later I tried to vacuum the carpet. My vacuums did not work on the carpeting. I called the store and talked with Wayne. He said Bob was on vacation and I should leave a message for him to get back to me the following week. I said I did not want to wait that long. Wayne told me there were several vacuums that would work, and there was a list. I asked if he could email me the list and he said "cut a piece of the carpet and take it to Oreck and they could help me better." Seriously, does he know how hard it is to cut carpeting without the proper tools. Shouldn't they know about the product they sell?? They did send a combined sorry and thank you card after I complained about the installers, but said the installers worked for them for 10 years. That compensation did not match the continued aggravation I experienced with Potomac Tile and Carpet. I called Mohawk directly and asked for their help on vacuum cleaners. Mohawk was very helpful and emailed me a list of vacuum cleaners that I could use, and a carpet care pamphlet. I explained to them the poor customer service that I received from Potomac Tile and Carpet regarding their knowledge about the product and that is why I was reaching out to them. Needless-to-say, I will never do business with Potomac Tile and Carpet in Frederick, MD again. read more

Wow unbelievable the lack of professionalism. We came in ready to spend up to $10,000 on hardwood flooring. The salesman were all busy when we came in which was fine so about 10 minutes after we arrived, they were freed up and one man came and greeted us. I felt like I was talking to a used car salesman but figured I could benefit by being educated in his advice. He educated us with lots of good information. He would come and go and out of about an hour we were in the store, he spent about 15 minutes with us. We didn't dominate his time,nor did we request his attention when he kept disappearing. He educated us that flooring that was 5 inch wide or more could have cupping. We acknowledged that we understood and we began to rethink based on his advice that perhaps we should consider a thinner width. Later another salesman came over to talk to him and I overheard the other man ask, did you tell them about the cupping, he disgustingly said, I have told them at nauseum. Wow!!! Them once we could not find anything they sold as much as something we found elsewhere, we went to leave and overheard him saying to the other salesman, "that was a waste of time" so my suggestion is don't waste your time shopping at Potomac, they really seem ONLY worried about their commission and could care less about investing time in their customers. We had carpet installed Sat the 25th. From start to finish, this was a fabulous experience!!! Bob our salesperson was knowledgable and extremely helpful. Jim scheduled the delivery within a week of placing the order as not to have the carpet sitting in the warehouse. He made it very convenient for us to choose what day n time worked best. He even called 3 days before to make sure we were still ready to take delivery. Not sure of the 2 gentleman's makes who did the install but they were incredibly professional and did a fabulous job. Potomac Tile and Carpet was recommended by plumber for a bathroom remodel. Our first visit was disappointing because the salesperson was unhelpful, arrogant and frankly seemed some what annoyed by requests. As a result we decided to postpone our remodel. After several months we decided to revisit the idea of remodeling and based on a friends recommendation we returned to the showroom because we figured everyone has a bad day once in awhile. Unfortunately, we were greeted with the same bad attitude we experienced the first time. Sadly to say, this individual must have a dark cloud hoovering over him most of the time.
