I chose this company because of reviews on this web site. I wanted to go with a local company instead of a big box store. I knew it would cost me m ore, but it seemed worth it. MY MISTAKE! Tony may have been great in the past, but I had a very different experience. The installers left visible seams, corners puffed up and untacked, stair risers loose and untacked, and bulging edges where carpet was untrimmed in the hallways. Tony is the supreme gentleman. His workers removed my carpeting from my basement stairs and floors. The floors are now Cortex and look exactly like real wood. Great service! Requested a measurement and quote and got it the same day. Ordered carpet for whole house - 4 bedroom, 2 hall, family room, stairs - on a Thursday and the carpet was installed completely the following Wednesday. Carpet from Shaw brand - newest carpet made from recycled plastic bottles - cleans with water ONLY. We have tested this - it is amazing. Stains come out with just water and some scrubbing. Phoned Carpet & Floor Express to receive a quote for carpet in a master bedroom in NW D.C. 23 miles from Carpet & Floor Express. The person who took my call did not provide me their name, but I assume it was the business manager Tony P who replied to my comment below. I do not need to be available for the company to install the carpet as the building management assists contractors in accessing units from the loading dock to the unit as each entry is security controlled. My reason for a double star is that Carpet & Floor Express is unable to service a one bedroom job 23 miles from their offices. The person who answered the phone said "for one room I wouldn't go there". If this company does not service small jobs in Washington DC, the website should be clear. read more

We got both carpet and tile flooring done by Carpet & Floor Express. Tony was an awesome salesman and really helped me figure out which way to go with my choices, based on my preferences. They were quick to get started and finished the whole house in three days! I almost took off one star because we had a VERY minor issue with both the carpet and one of the tiles - and it took literally three months to get them to come back and fix the problem. He showed my wife and I around the showroom and helped us select the best option for us. They have many options to choose from which was great. I wanted to make it clear that this review and rating is based SOLELY on the installation of the carpet. I mentioned the color of the carpet because not only was the installation bad it was something that I also did not like, no blame was given to the company on this issue. A good business practice is not to blame the customer and question their motives when you were paid in full to do a job and it was done poorly. I asked the installer several times throughout the morning about his help and he told me repeatedly that he was running late but he is on his way. I did not expect this from a company with a five star rating. It is the employee's responsibility to call the company when he showed up to the job site one man short and without the necessary equipment, it is not the customers responsibility. By the time I realized his helper was not coming he had removed all the carpet in the house. The owner accusing me of exaggerating the facts and trying to manipulate the situation is a gross overstatement on his part after I gave him the opportunity for us to come to a mutual agreement. We could not come to a mutual agreement. The rating and review reflects the subpar installation and the poor customer service. Based on the company's previous ratings on yelp, I expected to have had a stellar experience. Sadly, I did not. I have moved on from this bad experience with a lesson learned that even companies with good ratings deliver subpar services at some point. The only thing that reflects badly on me is the extremely poor judgement I used when I selected Carpet & Floor Express to install my carpet. Ultimately, I would not recommend this company to anyone looking to buy/install carpet or any type of flooring in their home based on my experience.
