My cat has been throwing up for years, even the vets couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. We switched Munchkin to a 1/4 wet food a day (incase she was dehydrated from all the puking) and putting her dry food in a feeder ball -so she has to roll it around to get food out, making her eat much much slower- and the results were immediate! I shopped at the North College store this morning. I picked up a basket on the way in, and placed my shopping bag in it. I shopped, loading 22 rawhide chews and 6 cans of dog food into the basket and bought a 22lb bag of kibble. When approaching the register, the cashier put the bag of kibble on the counter, then placed the basket on top of the bag. She then took the rawhide chews out of the basket to count them. When she finished, she put the rawhide chews back in the basket ( shopping bag? ). I cashed out. The cashier asked if I would like help carrying out the bag of kibble. I said, "Sure.". She then stood there. I got the message that she was not going to load the grocery bag with the items in the basket. I reached for the grocery bag and proceeded to load my items, one by one, into the bag as she watched. When all were loaded, she removed the basket from atop the bag of kibble, reached for the bag of kibble when I then said, "I'll get it." As with other reviewers, I'm wondering about customer service at this store. read more

I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years. In the past year I have gone in on several occasions to purchase product and tried to pay with cash and they couldn't give me change because of the lack of funds in the register. Today, after the 6th or 7th time of this happening I made the decision that I can no longer support them. I was purchasing $50 worth of product and handed the employee a $100 bill and they couldn't give me change. I was then told to go to the bank and break the bill and come back. I'm this isn't a dollar store, this is a "high end" pet food store that can't take cash. read more

This is a little gem of a feed supply store. Having three dogs and two cats with some crazy health issues (we have a doodle who is allergic to HUMANS, potatoes, cats, grass, duck, etc.), it is imperative that we find a great food. The staff at Poudre Feed is very knowledgeable and are always able to give some really good advice. They have recommended food that has worked better than what our vets recommend. Plus the food is high quality and made with great ingredients. If the food doesn't sit well in your pets stomach (which is equally as awful for the humans), take the food back and get a new one. Poudre Pet & Feed Supply on North College has plummeted in customer service. Today I went to a register with a clerk; she immediately took a phone call, ignored me and walked away. I waited for her to return, she never did. I then went to the second cashier. She finished up with her customer, ignored me and walked her customer out. I waited for her to return; never did. Finally a third clerk showed up, saw me standing, waiting for someone and asked if I needed help. No apology. The manager came out, ignored me and took a phone call. Poudre feed is _the_ place to find high-quality feed in the Fort Collins vicinity ... you can find premium brands (Innova, California Natural, Wellness, Merrick, Orijen, etc.) as well as the higher-end "commercial brands (Purina ProPlan, Science Diet, etc). They also are a great place to pick-up frozen bones, all sorts of wonderful treats, and unique toys. They also have a store on the north side of town, but note that they have separate computer systems for their "frequent buyer" program -- they will consolidate to one store or the other if you ask, though. read more

Honestly, I've seen better. Went to Poudre Feed when I first got to town to find my dogs' brand of dog food. They had it, and at an ok price, but I was put off when I saw the staff member's little dog show some less than social tendencies with another client's pet. Why are they allowing employees to bring dogs that are less than stellar with all other animals? Have had iffy customer service, and the atmosphere is cluttered and uninviting. I'm sticking with getting dog supplies online or at my dogs' daycare, where they sell the same food for a couple bucks cheaper a bag and I don't have to worry about getting mauled by a less than friendly beast. read more

Locally owned and run, I really do like this place. The pet food is a bit pricey, but it's some of the best brands out there (and compared to other stores that sell the same brands, it's about the same). The toys are competitively priced and more diverse than other stores. They have (usually) great deals on things like pig ears and rawhide (especially when bought in bulk). True, the store is a bit cluttered, but I have always found the employees to be welcoming and nice. Granted, they do usually have random employee pets wandering around, but they don't really bother anyone. As someone previously mentioned, they will refund the product if your pet doesn't like it (or exchange the product for something else). And they have a frequent buyer program - yay!!! read more

This is a charming little store. Yes, it is cluttered and not easy to find what you want, always. But the customer service more than makes up for it. They will help you find anything. If you want it, and they don't have it, they will order it for you. They always go head over heels to help us out. They carry a great variety of foods and toys and supplies for your pets, particularly considering how small it is. You can also play "where's waldo" (except that his name isn't waldo) with the persian cat who hangs there. We found him in the dog food this time. I highly recommend it. read more

New to Fort Collins, I was looking for a pet supply store that sold high quality food and treats. I decided to give Poudre Pet & Feed Supply a try. The staff is friendly, helpful and seemed knowledgable. The store is small, so it's a little bit cluttered. But that's kind of part of it's charm! Buying a high-end food, I expect to pay a little more and don't mind when I'm supporting a local business. (They also offer a frequent buyer's program...buy so many bags and get one free...something the big pet store chains don't offer, so I'm still saving a little money.) The thing I like best about Poudre feed is that the people working there know the products. My dog has severe allergies and I know that if I ask a question about what kind of dog food is best for my dog they know the answer or they will find out while i am in the store. Food allergies can take up to 3 months to get out of a dogs system from what the vet has told me so it is the most important thing to keep them on the right food. Seriously why would you ever go to PetCo or PetSmart when you have lovely little Poudre Pet and Feed right here with two locations? They sell several brands of dog and cat food that do not test on animals, woohoo! Because Iams is evil - my dogs don't want other dogs dying for their kibble, that's just stupid, wrong and unnecessary. Plus Poudre Pet and Feed guarantees everything that they sell, if your dog won't eat the new food you bought you can return it, easy peasy. The employees make this store the best though. They have recommended foods, toys, stinky dog breath fixers, collars, leashes, treats, all with great success! I totally trust what they tell me because they have always been right. Poudre Pet has a frequent buyer program too, buy so many bags of food get one free - can't beat that! Plus their prices are pretty darn competitive to begin with. I had a very bad experience with this business last night. I purchased almost $50 worth of merchandise last night. I left my car in their parking lot for less than an hour, while getting a bite to eat. When I came back my car had been towed. There was no sign saying there was any limitation regarding parking. When I called the towing company, I was told it would cost over $300 to get my car. After two hours of back and forth with the business manager, they finally told me they would pay for the tow, and handed me $75 in cash to pay the tow company, and then instructed the towing company to release my car. What a racket and windfall for the towing company (H&R). I will never do business with Poudre Pet & Feed again. While in the store people were buying pet food worth around $50 every 10 minutes. That is at least $500 per hour and then they tow your car. read more

Poudre Feed Supply WAS a great pet food store. I had been buying Healthwise chicken and oatmeal for my german shepard for 8 years in which I'm very pleased with the product. Sad to say, customer service has diminished over the years. In the pass employees have been there to assist in every way: answering questions, asking questions about pets to determine food or treats best for my dog, and helping with items bought,. out to car. Now when we go to the store the employees are bothered to even ring up your order let alone helping you out to your car with your merchandise. I usually buy 2 bags at a time and in one instance the heavyset cowboy manager felt too bothered to set his coffee down to help my wife and I out with our bags and treats. He ordered another girl to help us and as she proceeded to take our items he remarked " she could use the exercise" granted she could, but he was one to talk. Can anyone suggest a store that carries Healthwise, I prefer not to go to the north side of town. read more

We agree with the other reviews--we'd rather buy our products here than the larger corporate chains. The staff always bends over backwards to help, and though the customer may have trouble locating items in the store, the sales people always seem to know exactly where to find what we're looking for. We enjoy the staff's animals wandering around, and like taking our dogs in to give them some extra human/canine/feline interaction. On the other hand, lately I've avoided going in to this North store and have gone to one of the other 2 store locations in town. I've not liked seeing how one of the staff's dogs is treated. Luna seems to be scapegoated by her owner as well as other staff-she seems to be treated gruffly, talked to unnecessarily harshly, and tied on a short tether to the cash register counters without any room to move around. I've heard many of the staff compliment other dogs who are in the store-whether they're owned by staff or patrons-but I've never heard Luna's owner or anyone else give her any positive attention or praise. I usually feel distressed after witnessing the treatment of Luna. read more

You can always tell a good store when the employees are happy; in other words, it's obvious that they are family.
