Saturday 5/23 at the Stihl/shop counter a lady called another Jax store to have a spark plug that I needed sent to the Lafayette store. Said it would be there Tuesday and they would call me. I called today Wednesday 5/27. Guy at the Stihl/shop counter said they don't call anyone and deliveries between stores are unreliable. May or may not happen and they have no control over if it happens. He also said they won't call anyone if there's an order. You have to call or show up at the store to see if it happened. Really! I was at Jax in Lafayette Colorado on August 5 2025. On that day at about 1:55 PM they tested their fire alarm system. When they did so I was standing approximately 10 feet from a fire alarm. My hearing was damaged severely. I contacted Jax and a person claiming to be the general manager spoke to me about it. I am left with loss of hearing and constant ringing in my ears. Jax refused to help me or take accountability for what they did to me. Jax is just another heartless business that has no accountability. read more

Terrific and helpful staff! I go to this location to get my dog's food and I'm happy they carry it so that I don't have to order by mail. But even better, I'm able to take my little pup into the store and she loves when I say we're going to Jax! The team is so great to her and they've taken her photo and put it on their bulletin board of their regular pets. And bonus, the food I buy for her is very well priced at their store - better than the mail order price. You'll love the item selection here and the friendly staff! read more

Super helpful staff! Pricing is reasonable. Sometimes they don't have a big selection of Horse and Livestock products. :(

They also have a nice selection of outdoor gear. I bought camping stuff over there and I have been happy with it. They also have footwear and you will find a very interesting selection of cow-boy boots. The prices are often quite expensive for the footwear so I haven't bought anything there. But if you are ready to pay for something cool and different, this is a place to check. They have a huge selection for the farm stuff (hay supplies, fencing, equine or chicken stuff, ...). I don't have a farm and I don't have animals so I never really checked that section. But they have quite a bit of stuff I never saw elsewhere. read more

Poor selection on about everything. couldn't look around with an old short lady following me around and borderline harassing me. didn't want to try shirts on but wouldn't take no for an answer and then continued to argue with me and claiming carhartt relaxed for is the same as loose fit. Most uncomfor table expierence I've ever had in a store. customers should not be treated like criminals or second class citizens. Not sure if it's a race issue or what, they have a lot to improve on while training staff. read more

Went into store to get a key made and the new kid working there said since he was new he wanted some help. After waiting for 10 mins. He then called another store associate over who said he was not comfortable cutting my key and I asked him does he not trust his skills he said no. So explain how that works. Is this store not hiring competent people? or is it racial bias in a store that lacks diversity? read more

This place always turns into a bad experience for me. I wish it weren't so. I like be hardware stores. I love having one in my neighborhood. However, 9 times out of 10 they are out of the most simple things I need. The employees are rude and unhelpful, most of the time. Another wasted trip. I brought my Toro snowblower in for service, and I could not have been more pleased. The staff (e.g., Ron, Matt, Jim, and others I interacted with) is very knowledgeable, provides very helpful suggestions, and exceeds my expectations in terms of competence and service. Toro's website does not list this Jax location as an authorized service center, but it is (Ask to speak with Ron). I could have taken my Toro to a closer service center, but its Yelp reviews were mixed. It was certainly worth the longer drive to Jax. read more

I am new to the area and unsure about the growing season, but the staff was willing and able to help me make the right choices for our area. Cool store. I asked one guy to help me get a bit to fit the screw I had in my hand, and he gave me the wrong one, so I had to turn right around from home and go back. There are 2 Jax stores practically across from each other in Lafayette and it can be confusing remembering which store carries the items I need so I recommend calling ahead. The staff there always offers help with anything I'm looking for, but going and browsing the aisles is fun as well. They keep their products well stocked and have a great assortment of durable items to choose from at competitive prices. Jax stores were founded locally and that specific attention to what living in Colorado means is noticed a lot more than when shopping at the big box stores. One minor gripe is the checkout is always a slow-going process. read more

As far as hardware stores go, this place is pretty awesome. Lots of hard to find items and unique things that can't be found at the big box retailers. That being said, they're pretty expensive across the board on hardware products. I find that they make up for it in quality most of the time though. If you haven't been here, check it out! read more

Go to the Home Depot if you want knowledgeable personnel and good prices. Lots of people walking around this store who don't know where anything is and are not very happy to help. More employees than customers, and the manager is very condescending when you tell her you couldn't get help. I usually shop here on the weekends, and the experience is different, but I'm going to Home Depot and Lafayette Nursery from now on (one of the salespeople at Jax told me I should go to Lafayette Nursery!!!). read more

I agree with the other folks that commented on how poor the customer service can be. In particular, the older guys back in the service department. After speaking to the manager twice and seeing no change, I stopped going there. Try Lafayette Lawnmower repair instead. Much better! read more
