My best advice is get several small versions of poutine and share. I had The MLT which was fantastic and da hubs had The Centrale (classic). Fried pickles are sweet if that's not your jam. Communal tables are the seating arrangement. They speak English and were super helpful when we had questions. We never felt rushed while we decided on what to order.

Came in after a trip to the Biodome. Wow, best poutine we have ever had. Went with a small centrale and a small jaqueline. Kids shared a popcorn chicken meal. Strongly recommend the Jaqueline, but there are so many appealing looking options. Friendly service! Can't wait to visit again.

Stopped in for a quick bit of Poutine here after a day at the bio dome around the corner. Had little expectation and was quite pleased! Fries were clearly hand cut and well done. Gravy was a little weak but still great. I got the one with popcorn chicken and was surprised that there were only a few bites. Beyond that a clean welcoming environment. Worth a second fork!

First time trying poutine so I went with the classic, it was definitely good, but I had to push the cheese to the side. The Chicken ranch sandwich was OK, not the best. Something was missing in the flavor, but overall good to each. The Cheeseburger was delicious. Juicy, and just perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. I asked for suggestions on which poutine order to get, since it was my first time, and they just told me to go with the classic. The place is beautiful and has a rustic vibe to it. Overall very chill experience.

First time having poutine and was not disappointed. We ordered the Verdun and poulet au buerre. The large portions are good for 2 people. The Verdun is ground beef and bacon mixed with green beans, and the poulet au buerre is basically chicken Tikka masala. Both were great and quite filling. The fries were smothered with sauce that was pretty light but added great flavor. The place was a bit understaffed with only 2 people. Took a while to get the order in. It was also pretty hot inside.

Great place for poutine! We were there to experience a classic Montréal dish and this place didn't disappoint ! Even had good local beer. We shared one with smoked meat, one with bacon and one with buffalo sauce.

You can't stop by Montréal and not try the Poutine. Definitely a total different experience compare to the crispy fries you would normally get. But I loved it! My absolute favorite was the crispy pickles, can't get enough!

4th time is the charm. Other place we had some less than desirable poutine but this hit the spot. Smoked meat poutine was good but the buffalo chicken was a little strange. Burger was decent but for some reason they were out of smash burgers. Side of fries could have been a little crispier. On the whole a good send off on poutine.

Maybe I made a mistake by not ordering a poutine, but I was pretty disappointed. Stopped in for something quick and the music was unnecessarily loud for just 2 other people inside. They don't specify if they use vegetarian gravy, so I went on the safe side and got a beyond meat cheeseburger with fries which came to $23 before tip. The burger itself was nothing special. Same kind of thing you could get at any other joint. Fries were a bit dry and underseasoned. I left feeling underwhelmed and overcharged.

Super yummy food. My first time try, and love it. I showed my friend the picture of what item I want. Unfortunately my order came out wrong, I asked why my food is not the same as the picture? My friend did not tell me why. Either he order wrong even after he saw the picture or the restaurant made a wrong dishes. I don't eat pork, my friend tried to force me eat pork. I highly suspect he ordered wrong even he saw pictures. His intelligence level may be low. Glad the restaurant guy came out said he can make me a correct one, even my friend refuse to correct for me. As a result, I don't have to be forced eat pork. Love the handsome, kind, nice restaurant guy. :)

Not the everyday poutine you get most places. Best Ive had. Accommodating to travelers with an English menu. Very clean indoors.

While having lunch here, we actually got into an argument, on "other social media," with other American and Canadian friends about whether their Italian Poutine is actually poutine (can you imagine Americans being purists about poutine?). That conversation was silenced with a reply of "And how is YOUR authentic Quebecois poutine lunch today?" Ca y est, this is the real thing (if you want to be the purist in the bunch, order the classic smoked meat version), with more than a dozen varieties from which to choose, and way too many good aromas as you walk in. During the busier part of lunch, it gets crowded, and it can take a few minutes for your order to be made, but that proves they're making the fries fresh. Beverage options are 3 types of beers and several options for soda (and I learned the French for Root Beer). Seating options are a couple of larger tables in the center, and table space along the walls, all with "log" type seats. It's not the most comfortable option, but that's not the part of your body you're trying to satisfy when you visit here. Poutine Centrale is a medium walk away from Olympic Parc and a nice option for dining if you're in that area.

Good poutine, but not my favorite. The fries aren't all that crispy to begin with. The staff were very friendly. The vibes also weren't great (smelled like cigarettes).

I'd never had the French Canadian heart-attack-on-a-plate, and was a little nervous as it just looks like it has A LOT going on. I sludged into La Banquise dead sober at 4:11am, as this is a legendary spot that is open 24 hours. I sat down in a bustling no frills atmosphere and remembered my deep appreciation for a 24-hour diner. You see people for who they really are this early in the morning. A couple in front of me was in a heated argument about what "being exclusive" really meant, while two separate groups of 4 to my right were feeling no pain and enjoying a poutine night cap. There I was, sipping on my black coffee mentally prepping myself for the 45 mile (72 km) day I had in front of me. The dichotomy of life. I asked the server what the most popular item was, and he said La Scooby. This monstrosity consisted of fresh cut fries, cheese, gravy, ground beef, bacon, onions, fried pickles, and caesar dressing garlic sauce. I got the small ($12.40 usd), but this thing was a TANK. It was bigger than my head and I have a HUGE head. The large must be a family style portion or somethin. Upon first bite, it was damn good. I completely see the poutine appeal. Is it an ideal meal dead sober at 4:11am? No, absolutely not, but this is an S-tier hangover food. Also, if there is ever a day when I need some extra calories, it's on a 100k step day. All the staff was so welcoming, and surprisingly chipper this early in the morning. SHOUTOUT TO LA BANQUISE! THANK YOU FOR FUELING THE JOURNEY! IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

La Banquise is the first poutine I tried in Montreal around 10 years ago and at that time it was…read morethe one-and-only best poutine in Montreal and remained that way for years until I recently found Romados this year (my personal favorite). This classic poutine restaurant is still the best (tied for first place), always packed (literally always, since it's open 24/7) and certainly has the most variety and creativity for poutine. You'll find tons of different options and I'm eager to try them all! If you're not feeling like Gravy-infused fries with Cheese Curds and crispy fries, there are also tons of other classic diner options; hot dogs, burgers, onion rings, BLTs, etc., but while those are solid options, they end up being the sideshows. The main attraction is definitely the poutine. My personal favorite is the slow-roasted Pulled Pork poutine. It comes with a heaping of sour cream and a sweet bbq sauce. Even after you've somehow managed to eat the whole thing, it will leave you wanting more and you might dream about it and crave it as well (I know I am right now!). I reccommend sharing it unless you are a poutine expert or haven't eaten all day. The regular size and large are similar sizes (both hulking portions) and it might be more accurate to name them "huge" and "more huge". I also love the smoked meat poutine (the one with pickles and coleslaw), but I usually default to the Pulled Pork one, as that one is the best! The service is excellent and my server was fast/attentive for being so busy. The atmosphere is loud and it is very casual--great for a large party as they have big tables. If it is packed, don't be scared away, somehow they manage to make the wait time not so bad--maybe because the food is made so fast and fresh. The quality hasn't dipped at all since I first tried this place and if you want to try one of the best, if not the best poutines, you don't want to miss out on La Banquise.

The wood and leather booths gave this 99 year old establishment an old school vibe. We were seated pretty quickly in a small booth. Hockey was on TV so that's a good sign. I was not super hungry so I ordered the smoked meat on a bagel, Andrew got the sandwich. The food came out fast but not overly fast. My bagel sandwich was tasty. I liked the thin cut of meat. The fries were as soft as mashed potatoes. They were warm but not close to crispy. Andrew liked his sandwich as well. The bathroom was quite the experience, it was at the bottom of a long, steep staircase in the basement. It worked, lighting was ok, but it was a climb out of there!
