Caramel Milkshake ($8.95). 2. Montrealer Signature Poutine ($16.95) with Smoked Meat on the side. 3. Farmer's Delight Signature Poutine ($16.95). Both Poutines were good and the portions were big. So I was in Montreal on business and my kid insisted that while there I must try something called poutine. So where better to get poutine than from a place called Poutineville? I ordered via a delivery service and poutine is something that you'd have to maybe have the palate for. It wasn't my favorite as it is full of carbs. I thought I'd get a lot of protein on top that I could pick through and eat but it was a lot of fries and smothered in gravy. I'm sure for those that are poutine fans it was good but to me it was not bad just too much for me. I also ordered a salad and it was fresh but had no lettuce in it. We were staying nearby and needed some food after a long day of traveling by train. Poutineville was just a few blocks from where we were staying, so we decided to give it a try. Upon walking in we were promptly seated by the friendly hostess/ waitress. The menu had a vast array of Poutines that were world cuisine inspired. I wound up getting the General Tso's Chicken Poutine and was really happy with my order. The gravy was not too rich or heavy and the fries were lighter as well. The sweetness balanced well with the savory quality of the gravy that was used. As for the atmosphere, this is definitely more of a family oriented, casual restaurant. I loved that they had games available to play while you wait. My husband and I played UNO until our food arrived. I would say the lighting was a bit too much like being in a garage, it should've been softer to create more of an ambiance in my opinion. But overall, the food was good and a great value for this part of Montreal. I also really enjoyed the classic rock playing over the speakers. With the games, music and comfort food, it felt like I was transported back to 1988- I seriously think that may have been the last time I played UNO! Pooh and I came here for lunch today. We were craving a poutine. The ambience is friendly and lots of space between the tables. Soft music was playing in the background.. We wanted a ground beef and fried onion poutine and out of all the ones they had the closest match was the Cheeseburger poutine I also started off with a small house salad. It's our last day in Montreal and we can't leave without trying a classic poutine. Poutine is French fries covered in gravy and topped with cheese curds. There are Poutineville restaurants all through eastern Canada. This one has a small patio outside and dining area inside with TV. We kinda knew we wouldn't like poutine so we ordered a regular size to sample. The fries and gravy were good but the cheese curds tho. They were squeaky and flavorless. We got regular sized poutines and a half pound of wings and it was more than enough for two people. Could have taken the leftovers home but as we were staying at a hotel (just visiting Montreal!) we didn't have a microwave to warm up our leftovers.
