The atmosphere and waitress were pleasure and we were seated and served without a wait. Ice water in big pitchers flowed while we poured over interesting menus with many offering including poutine to build yourself. There were costs for meals from $10 upward and soft drinks and a wine, beer and cocktail menu from $2.50. The staff cleared up any unfortunate circumstances quickly and willingly sure that the customer should be pleased. My fries came cold and were burnt, no problem, here's a fresh plate of warm fries ready to enjoy. A small mistake, when a two patty burger only gave one patty, no worries, here's a second patty fresh and hot. Want to order another platter to bring home to your husband at the end of the meal, easy. The menus change at different mealtimes--so customer beware, but have a good time, all of the time! Great new addition to the neighborhood! I am a fan of Poutineville and have ordered from their other locations, notably the Ontario restaurant. The delicious fries, gravy and generous toppings are always a sure pleaser. I heard about the new poutine of the world collection which is for now, exclusive at this Cote Des Neiges location and can say the flavors and ideas are genius! Looking at the new menu and seing the different countries and corresponding flags just sets the idea and makes it so much easier to understand what you are getting. There are so many choices and unique flavor combinations, this will be a real crowd pleaser so I cannot wait until all locations can take advantage of these new offerings. We opted for the Greek and Canadian poutines. The Greek is described as a mix of their smashed fries, gravy, curds, generous amount of feta, green onions and lemon sauce. Unfortunately, it was served with the incorrect type of potatoes the first time around and then we were told there were no more onions. The Canadian poutine on the other hand, came out perfectly, it's your traditional fries and gravy but topped off with bacon bits, creamy white macaroni and cheese and sweet syrup maple/honey type sauce. This combination was amazing and by far one of the top poutines I've ever had. The mix of salty, creamy and sweet with different textures like soft and crunchy was so satisfying. I hope these poutines of the world become a permanent menu item and can be offered in different sizes. I will definately come back for more. Although we had a few bumps with the service and our orders at this location, I want to point out that I communicated with the owner through the Poutineville Facebook page as he was answering my messages and truly, Kosta is an all-star and true "boss" in every sense of the word. He is quick to respond and accomodate and will follow up with any of his restaurants to ensure things are handled properly. Just to give an example, I messaged the FB page while I was dining in the restaurant and within a few moments, I heard the phone ring and it was the owner, ensuring we were being served correctly. All this was happening while the owner was out of the country yet he took time out of his vacation to make sure we were OK. That alone is probably the best service I have ever received so I applaud Poutineville's management style and customer oriented values. Pooh and I came here after a dentist appointment I had on Monkland. We both stuck with poutine. Pooh topped his off with sauteed onions and hamburger while I added jalapeno peppers. The fries were crisp, the sauce was great - not too salty - and just the right amount of cheese curd and extra toppings. The restaurant was very casual with lots of space and a well stocked bar. The bathroom was clean and spacious. We will definitely go back there and try out other options on the menu. read more

I came with a friend on a Monday afternoon around 5 pm. Here are some pros and cons. Pros: - Extremely friendly service! The person who I assume is the manager came to greet us. He was very nice, explained the menu to us and told us that we could try a sample of anything we were unsure of. - Food: Incredible! The large poutine was more than enough for me and my friend to share. Neither one of us was super hungry, but it was still very big. The crushed potatoes are to die for! I've never had anything like that before and I am quite a fan. I was really able to taste a wine flavour in the sauce and the sauce-cheese-potato ratio was perfect! My friend believes that there was a bit too much sauce, but agree to disagree. - Very decent food: price ratio. We split the bill, so it was quite affordable for such a big meal. Cons: - The poutine was on the saltier side. It wasn't so salty that I had to constantly drink water, but salty enough that once I finished eating, I chugged the whole glass without even trying. Coming from New York, I was thinking poutines must be really good. Sadly, I was disappointed. The food was overly salty cover in heavy sauce on top of the fries with cheese but the flavor, nonetheless, was pretty good. We got the poutineville and hangover in regular size. They are both good. Poutineville was cover in red wine sauce which wasn't my favorite sauce but it did come with lots of meat. I would never recommend anyone to get the large portion since a regular portion can feed up to two people if they are not that hungry. Even if you starving, regular size is good enough unless two of you are starving. This is a type of fast food but in a sit down restaurant. read more

Honestly this is a great place for tourists and has a wide variety of spins on the normal classic poutine, though it is by no means the best poutine you'll find out there. That's not to say anything bad about this spot, their food and service are great along with the sheer creativity they exhibit in their dishes. *Disclosure: I came here on their opening day which they offered a poutine for $1 with a purchase of a drink ($4.50). As such, I will not comment on the price-value, apart from saying that $15 was advertised on their poutine menu (hopefully it comes with something, or else, not really worth it).* Although they have unique poutine options, it is nothing special. They offer a selection of around 8 poutines which represent a specific country's cuisine. I got the china poutine which featured general Tao chicken with a general Tao sauce. The poutine was not what I was expecting. It still had the classic gravy, while only the chicken was seasoned with the general Tao sauce (which is actually what I preferred). The chicken was also lacking in size. There were only about 2 strips placed on top of the poutine with a couple pieces of breading throughout. The chicken, however, was tasty and after taking a couple bites of it, it left you wanting more. As for the actual poutine, I was underwhelmed. A little over half the plate was covered in gravy, keeping the fries and cheese curds on the other side less warm. The cheese curds were also cold, and it would've been nice if they were separated into smaller pieces rather than cold chunks. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as there are so many more options at equal or lesser value (I believe these poutines are regular $15 each). However, I would suggest giving it a try as they do have some unique poutine options. read more

I attended the pre-opening event for Poutineville's 5th and new location in the Snowdon area. You can customize your own poutine or order their world poutines. I had the chance to taste four world poutines: Greek-Santorini, Thai-Sweet and Sour, US-Big Mac and India Butter Chicken. Each one was very unique in taste with an emphasis on key ingredients used in the cuisines from that particular country. The greek consisted of fries, feta, green onions and lemon sauce. The Thai consisted of caramelized onions, red and green peppers, cheese with sweet and sour sauce. The US is basically like a Big Mac minus the bread. The Indian is like butter chicken plus the mushrooms. My favorite of the four was definitely the Greek, it was light, tasty and definitely exceeded my expectations. All these world poutines definitely raise the bar in terms of creativity, taste, texture in the world of poutine. In terms of ambiance, the location had a total facelift since it used to be another restaurant previously. The vibe is modern and hip. I am always disappointed whenever a restaurant is so hyped up by public. Poutineville is one of them. New branch opened up on Queen Mary. It is a large restaurant. The welcoming service were not that friendly... you get there, they seemed satisfied to receive customer, business first then I guess customer satisfaction. I decided to build my own poutine with crushed potatoes, cheese curds sautéed onions and mushrooms, guacamole and pepper sauce. My sister got Zeus poutine made with Gyro, feta cheese, tomato sauce and red wine sauce. I also asked for the coke. Our waitress almost forgot my drink till I had to signal her. Finally, the poutines arrived. It feels, they took frozen food and thawed and cooked. My potatoes weren't even crushed. Even though my dish was nice and warm, but the taste was not genuinely fresh. Plus, we paid 40$ for the unsatisfactory meal. It was really steep; I can get better poutine for half of its of price. read more

I was always a fan of Poutinville's other locations. Was looking forward to checking this new one out. Admittedly, I never even opened up the menu to check out all the offerings. I knew I wanted a poutine and ordered directly from the à la cart poutine menu. Kept it simple: crushed potatoes, cheese curds, regular poutine gravy and chicken. Really tasty all around. I always love their crushed potatoes! Only downside is the cheese curds weren't "squeaky" enough (poutine lovers will know what I mean). Should point out the restaurant has a great look. Their subs are so much better than you would think! They're sort of a chain poutine place so it's not as good as some other places in Montreal but you can get basically anything from their menu and it is good. 4 stars for the service was one of the only ones in there and it took about 40 minutes to get a sub and a sampler poutine. read more
