I think they are known for the Halifax donair or at least it comes very close to it. I first tried the donair several years ago and remembered it as very big. Taste wise, it was ok. It used to be a bigger place with dine in area. Now it's half the size with only a take out window. We ordered the large rice platter with chicken. It came with a can of pop for $16.50. Portion was good, enough for 2 small eaters or two small meals. I was initially disappointed to see white rice as other places version were with dill or yellow spiced rice. But the white rice was not bland, it was very flavorful and went really well with the meat and sauces. I liked how we were given pieces of chicken which were nicely charred on the edges. Not dry at all. I will get the rice platter again. Maybe I'll give the donair another try in future.

I pointed out to her that the Coke Zero is on the top shelf, I can see it clearly. The next thing she did was ask me which plate is mine. Then she pretends to put onions on it (thinking it was really funny). By this time, I felt belittle & harass for not liking onion. I just kept quiet, didn't want her to spit on my food. The food was ok, it was not outstanding that I need to go back & be belittled for not liking onions. I will take my business elsewhere. I tried calling the place to speak with the owner several times but was unsuccessful.

I mean...."DONAIR DUDE"...it's in the name....some dude that makes donairs...no? Well....I wish he would stop making them. All the health designations on their menu.....halal, AAA grade, no antib. etc. throw that out the window. The meat tasted like cardboard soaked in salt water. I stopped eating after a couple of bites cuz my mouth was starting to burn...that's how salty it was. Oh...and the stench of "rip-off" disappears my appetite. Every time. Now the yam fries. Shawarma fries had great seasoning but were definitely mushy, and we didn't let them sit around as we were starving. Burger was fabulous! Maybe it was just a bad day? But you'd think a shawarma place like this wouldn't run out of pita. Maybe they should double fry the fries so they don't congeal. $70 bill, not cheap. If I go back I'll stick to plain fries and the burger, skip dips and shawarma fries.

The plate was ready in 3 minutes. The falafel was good, adequately spiced, not too oily, and nicely textured. Nothing else was all that interesting. The spiced rice was nice but bland; same with the potato. The tabouleh was decent; the house salad was lame. The hummus was fine. Overall, I was definitely full, but there was nothing special about the plate. Okay spot for an inexpensive, quick meal.
