I was on youtube looking up how to repair power jacks on my motherboard, because I had a power jack go bad on me, and I didn't want to spend 300 plus dollars either getting it repaired at the local computer repair shop, or just getting a whole new motherboard. But then I saw on the video that he was offering a service to fix it for 60 dollars if you just sent him the motherboard, and I figured "you know what? why the hell not. I'll send it out there to get repaired." After Googling for how to fix the issue, I determined that I didn't have the expertise to replace my laptop's power jack on my own. However, I was glad to have found Power Jack Repair's videos on Youtube, which were so professional that it helped convince me to ship my laptop to them for repair. If you know 100% that it's your power jack that's broken, use these guys. This is the second time I had to get the jack fix. The first time was this summer and I took it to a repair guy near me. Nice enough but he charged me over $200 for the repair and it broke after 6 months. He is a generalist so it took him three weeks to get the part and fix it. My guess is he had to learn how to do it and then fix it, which is why it took so long and it was unfortunately shoddy. He probably didn't do it 100% correctly. After it broke a second time, I took it to a big chain computer store (Micro Center). These guys charged me $45 for a "diagnostic", which I said I didn't need because I told them flat out I just want the power jack fixed. They said they always have to do the diagnostic, which would take a week. After the diagnostic, they said the power jack was broken (yean no sh*t) but they didn't have the part to replace it. So $45 down the drain and a week wasted. So after that I found this service on YouTube while seeing if I could do the repair on my own (I can't). I followed their very clear directions on their website on using their service. Once they received my laptop, they literally fixed it that day and sent it back. Even with the shipping of the laptop back and forth, it was quicker than the diagnostic I did at Micro Center. Just use these guys. Very fair pricing, great service, and probably faster than the service you are thinking of using (even if you are out of state...I'm in NJ). The only issue I have with them is that they only repair power jacks because I wish I could use them for other repairs. I guess that is their niche business and they do it well. read more

I was really impressed with the service I received from this business. Rather than shipping my laptop for repairs, I stopped by the location and dropped it off in person. I also dropped off an external hard drive that wouldn't start. Within an hour, the power port on my laptop was fixed. He also tried to fix my hard drive, but it wasn't a power issue. However, he provided great advice on what I can do to get it working again. In fact, he sent a follow-up email with detailed instructions for the hard drive. Power Jack Repair was wonderful in terms of timeliness, quick repair, and repairing my power jack as advertised. However, three screws in the bottom of my laptop were gone when it was shipped back, and several of the screw holes were broken, so I cannot properly attach the bottom of my laptop anymore. I'm thankful for the timely repair that was super fast, and the power jack does work, but not being informed about what happened with the screws on the bottom of my laptop leaves me a little wary of sending in any more laptops to Power Jack Repair. read more

So, my laptop's jack pin broke on Sunday morning. I went to various laptop repair shops in my area on Monday morning (thanks to the help of my best friend) and either they didn't have the replacement part and it would take over a week to order them OR they charged me a ridiculous price for replacement. Now, let me state that they charge a flat fee of $100 to fix/replace your jack and to ship it back to you, it does not include the cost of shipping your laptop TO them. I needed my laptop within the week, so I forked over the cash for next day air. My laptop got delivered Tuesday afternoon. I called to confirm this, and Eugene told me he would have it fixed within a few hours. Later that evening I got a shipping notification from UPS saying that my laptop got shipped and that it would get delivered to me on Thursday. WOW. They were right. I got my laptop back in one piece, and the jack was repaired as promised. I'm even thinking they cleaned up my fan because it's not making that terrible 'whhhrring' noise it usually does upon start up (and if not, oh well!). After taking my laptop in, what was originally thought to possibly be a disconnected wire or a broken jack turned out to be corrosion build-up on both the pin and the power port. My laptop stopped running on AC/DC. A local computer repair business said as long as it was still running fine on battery (it was), there was nothing wrong with the computer and that it was the power jack (inside the laptop) that needed replacement/fixing. And they referred me to Applicasoft (Power Jack Repair) as they know of no one in the SF Bay Area who does these repairs. I was told by a local computer guru that the $100 fee (includes shipment back to you) is a good price (if you send them only the motherboard it is $60). As promised, at the end of the day following their receipt of my laptop, Applicasoft (Power Jack Repair) had shipped my machine back to me. I just got it back and it works like a dream, good as new. They also fixed my broken original power supply cord (the tip was damaged) so I am glad to be using this once again instead of the replacement non-factory cord I had been using for the past six months. They were cost effective and got the power jack to function. We did run into a few problems, but we may be the outlier in this case. I live in AZ, so I shipped it to them to fix. They sent it back to my paypal address (in Ohio) which I had not updated after moving a month before. Make sure you update your address. That is mostly my fault, but the biggest problem was the shipping. They used the same box we had used, but it came to our house opened and there was a chip in the casing of my laptop, which I can live with, but it is frustrating. When I called, the gentleman I spoke to had such a heavy Russian accent that I struggled to understand, but he got the job done and changed the shipping to AZ for me as UPS would not let me.
