This is a great gym, if your true objectives are to gain fitness, health, overall body improvement! While people are cordial, and friendly, it is most likely not the Gym for you if your objectives are to find social improvement. Great 24/7 Gym! My son and I joined in Dec. 23 and it's perfect for us. Medium size and all types of folks just looking for a good workout! Great location and never overly busy so we never wait for the equipment. Cardio, free weights and all the machines you need. Best deal is a 1yr membership and a 1 time $50 fee./ $300/yr. I added my son for only $15/month. Clean, friendly and layout is perfect. Classes or personal training are options as well and 1 class per month is included in your annual membership which is nice! Don't be thrown by 2 bad reviews I just read -as Pete I think is a reasonable guy who cares about his customers health goals. Can't make everyone happy nowadays I suppose? read more

Be careful if u pay upfront for classes. I paid for specific classes in 2016, but they kept getting cancelled due to low attendance. When my membership renewal came around 5 mos later, I asked that monies be applied to my annual fee which I paid in advance, but was refused. Recently, I moved a few miles away, but chose not to renew, so I asked for a refund on my account. Owner refused again. When I posted this on their FB, he became enraged & said I scammed them into giving lower rates on my annual membership, which is untrue! My rates went up every year, while others got their very cheap "promotional" rates. He hounded me to change my rating & I asked him to cease & desist contacting me, but he continued to harass me. I'm considering contacting FB to report. Beware! I was their very first member & this is how u get treated! read more

Yes I was giving monies back from this gym as the owner said i reneged on. My point is this...I was asked to draft letter to cancel membership and trading - I did gym lost it. I was asked to pay $75 fee which I am more then willing to complete,I was asked to return fob - which I did! I was assured my account was closed - however it is not after months of leaving messages on machine at gym and going in person only to find doors locked and several attempts to stand at front desk waiting for minutes to see help and nothing. These visits and calls were to let gym know that after fulfilling letter and fob and I will pay 75 fee to get rid of this situation- which mind you two staff members said is cancelled - is still being removed from my bank account...for more then few months ! I was given owners name just this week ...which reprimand me on Facebook Message and email...one message states I was taking food from his daughters mouth. Asked me to remove my one star on Facebook or he would come at me through social media !!! Let the people decide what type of person I am and let them decide!!! The point I'm not getting across to this owner is I did what HIS EMPLOYEES ASKED-minus $75 fee and told account is closed months ago but still my bank statements prove different. Now I am sure he will complain about this review as well as FB but too bad Mister Pete. read more

This is a great gym. I left LA fitness to join here and it's much better. It's fairly small, but it has all the free weights and cardio options you could need. It's never packed so you never have to wait on equipment and the staff is helpful. It's also totally affordable and right off the highway. Good weights and good people. read more

So I was utterly shocked and disappointed at the way this health center handled this whole situation. I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble, just getting my frustration out. I have seven more appointments and right now I can't decide whether to go or not.

These are standing around looking bored or on their phone. There are towel dispensers that don't work, spray bottles that need filling, there are people yapping on their phone while on a treadmill or bike... and all the while, bored employees doing nothing.

It's so loud, having conversations with my workout buddy or other members, is nearly impossible without having to get in each others face and talk really loud! So, I, along with other members, have gone to the front desk numerous times to complain. The desk personnel say, "we aren't allowed to adjust the music. The store manager has no say in this matter, either. The regional manager tells us to leave the volume where it is." Next move was to speak with the "regional manager." He was pointed out to me by one of the employees so I walked up, introduced myself and said, "Why is the house music played at such a high level?" He replied, "well, we like it loud." (REALLY? WHO'S WE???) I came back with, "can you please turn it down a bit? It's too loud. It's hard to have a conversation with friends and quite frankly, the music is terrible. Look around, every person in here is wearing ear buds or headphones listening to their own music; they're not listening to the PA system." I continued, "I don't like having to wear buds or headphones and hate having to lug my phone around while working out, but I'm forced to wear them to try and drown out the music in here. And I'd like to add, I have to crank up my "noise-canceling" ear buds so loud, it's painful and the house music still bleeds thru. It's like a "battle of the bands" in my ears. He replied, "well, maybe we'll take a look at it." End of conversation. Since talking with him, he surely "took a look at it." It's louder now than it was before. I'm seriously thinking about finding another gym. Yes, it's THAT bad. p.s. There are other issues, too but I'll leave those for another time. Hopefully LA Fitness corporate will do something about this matter.

Registration is a bit of a process. You first have to create a profile through the Lorain County Metro Parks system, then return to the Splash Zone site to register for a specific program on a designated day and time. Once registered, the system shows your cost--mine initially showed $0. I arrived about 30 minutes early on the morning of my class, which turned out to be helpful because I had to re-register in person. After completing that, I was told there would normally be a $3 fee due to my SilverSneakers account. However, the woman at the front desk kindly let me attend for free that day, explaining that future visits would be $3. Since I'd never been there before, I had to navigate through several locker and pool areas. There are multiple pools separated by glass dividers with automatic doors--someone shared a helpful tip that the small black box above the door shows which side to stand on to trigger it. The instructor came in without much of an introduction, set up a small carry-on-size speaker, put on her headset, and began the class. The workout was aqua Tabata (a Japanese-style interval workout): 20 seconds of fast-paced movement followed by 10 seconds of rest. The class lasted 45 minutes. I stayed for about 30 minutes, choosing to leave early since shower space is limited and I like to be considerate of others. The workout itself was excellent, and being in the water felt really good. The showers, however, were not great--hair on the floor and a general "public park" feel, even at 10:30 a.m. I was glad I wore water shoes. On the plus side, the water temperature and the very hot shower afterward were appreciated. The instructor mentioned that this is her business and encouraged people to connect on Facebook (with a profile photo), and it's clear she's very talented. Overall, despite a few logistical and cleanliness issues, I'd go back again--and next time, I'd happily pay the $3 when I'm in town.

Outdoor pool My kids…read moreloved it! I have been to splashzone for years and this was my first time utilizing the outdoor pool. It costs $8 per person no matter the age. We had three young children with us. You enter through the main pool area and walk to your right out a set of doors. There is a large pool area that is sectioned off for different uses. There is a gradual entry area with a water playground for kids, this is connected to the main part of the pool that gets about 5 feet deep. There are 2 slides that you have to be 48 inches to ride. The lifeguards have a break for 15 minutes after 45 minutes of swimming. All kids have to get out of the water. While waiting there are lots of lounge chairs, a snack shack offer ice cream, hot dogs, pretzels, etc. along with a playground and swing area for the kids. There are also two indoor areas you can take the kids to play with the frog pool for younger kids and the indoor water playground.
