The front desk lady was unprofessional in her attitude. They definitely overcharged me for my hair service. All I had was a wash and blow dry and added a hair straightener (which is an extra $15 for something that took less than 30 seconds). They wanted to charge me $72, luckily I had a $10 off coupon but that is still a lot of money for a simple wash and blow dry. The stylist was Samantha. My hair was decent, it wasn't amazing. I probably should've saved the expense for a nice dinner and done my hair myself. My hair barely brushes my shoulders so I'm not sure how they calculated that if it's by length. It's usually $35 plus $15 for the straightener. When I checked their website, it showed $35-$65 for a blow dry plus the $15 for the straightener. Another thing I didn't like was the stylist was rushing on my hair because her next appointment arrived. I'm not sure if she doesn't know how to manage her time, but she had another stylist wash my hair while she was finishing up with the previous customer which is fine, but may indicate time management issues. Instead of having the next appointment sit in the waiting area, they sat her down right next to me where the stylist was doing my hair. I usually go to the salon in Manassas, but I recently moved and I'm closer to the one in Reston. I will gladly drive the 45 minutes to an hour to go to the one in Manassas because they are professional and charge me no more than $50. I'm sure if I had to have my split ends trimmed at the Reston salon, they would've charged me an extra $100 for about half an inch of hair. I usually leave a tip, but the service was lacking and it's as if they already charged a tip for me with that exuberant price tag. read more

I am not a big hair person, so when I met with Ray she sat down with me went over many options until I felt comfortable!! My hair ended up amazing and although the receptionist messed up my appt time, Ray made sure she could squeeze me in that day. After moving to NoVa from the Deep South I was on a search for a new stylist to trust with my hair. I have had my share of trips to The Chair and walked away wondering wtf I just paid for. Anyway, I was wandering around Reston Town Center and saw this place and checked them out on Yelp. I liked what I saw here so I checked out the website. The website is helpful because they had a section describing each stylist and their photo. I REALLY liked that if you hovered above the photos it shows you how many people "liked" that stylist. I wanted my hair re-layered and the balayage redone so I was torn between choosing Aja and Inhye. I saw that the salon and some of their stylists had Instagrams so I took my investigation to another social media platform. I chose Inhye (pronounced "Inn-hey") and I'm thrilled I did. She listened AND HEARD me when I said I wanted to keep my length but would be happy to sacrifice length if it was really damaged. She explained what steps we would take to keep my length while re-shaping the layers and where the balayage would begin/melt. The communication of what would happen to my hair was a relief (nothing is more upsetting than telling your best friend with scissors that you only want a trim and when you leave you see mounds of your hair at your feet). My appointment was at 5pm and I didn't leave until 7:45pm. Inhye was thorough and intent on making sure I was happy with the results. She gave me pointers on things I never knew about or read in magazines. I got some recommendations on products to try WHEN I FINISH my current products. I loved that she used a few products on my hair and explained why they were beneficial for MY hair and how to use them. She asked what my typical routine is from washing my hair to styling it and gave me tips based on how I live. I don't have time (read: I don't make time) to spend hours on my hair so having my hair styled easily while still looking good is crucial for me. Inhye gets me and for that she's keeping a new client. read more

Dede is amazing! I went in for the shortest hair cut I've ever gotten - the very short Rhianna look (not the angled bob - I had that one previously). I was nervous, but Dede did an amazing job. Everywhere I go, I get compliments on my hair - just randomly from people on the street. I've never had that happen before! She is so good and I am definitely going back again. My only complaint is that she was running really late and no one called me to let me know, so when I got there, I had to stroll around for 45 minutes until she was ready - but it was well worth the wait! read more

This was my first time at PR in Reston. I found Blossom via Instagram and am so happy that I did. She delivered the best color and cut I have honesty ever had. She really spent the time with me in the beginning of the appointment going over pictures, color, and general hair care with me. She really listened to everything I wanted! Beyond just listening and delivering exactly what I had envisioned, she had fantastic color and style recommendations. On a more personal note, she is extremely sweet and easy to talk to. If you're at the RTC, go see Blossom for your hair care needs! You will not regret it. The salon itself has nice decor, is super clean, and offers extremely comfortable shampoo chairs. I've been here a handful of times. Decent stylists, but super nosy personality on mine. Look-I know some people want to get their hair done and chat it up about personal stuff. But I'm not one of them. In which case, I don't want to hear about your particular personal problems either. Getting divorced? Don't care. Kids not behaving? Still don't care. Tired, run down, possible health concerns? Talk to a doctor. Basically this was my main issue with the place. Also, in the morning, stylists are often running late for their appointments. I made an appointment, arrived 15 minutes early as instructed, and waited a half an hour before anyone approached me and then was told the stylist was running 20 minutes late. So, I left. I tried this place twice and I'm not amused. My stylist did not cut my hair right. She seemed to be more about saying yes (no matter what I asked) and gave no real insight into what would actually work with my face and hair type. I seemed to be an afterthought and she cut my hair uneven. Like the right side was longer than the left side. Not good. Then also agree with previous poster that getting an appointment is like pulling teeth. It's like I have to beg to find something that works for me as the customer. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT go to Debbie for color. She claims to be a master colorist but ended up ruining my hair. Background: I just moved here from California and needed my roots touched up, so I called the salon and they recommended Debbie. My natural hair is fairly dark, and I have, well, had very blonde hair, so I wanted someone with a lot of experience. Unfortunately, I let Debbie talk me into adding low lights and a dark crown for a more balayage look. In theory, this would have given me more texture and lessened the contrast between my roots and blonde hair - awesome, right? Wrong. What ended up happening was worse than I can describe, but I'll try. Picture Avril Lavigne circa 2004, back when she had blonde hair with thick black chunks in it. Debbie decided to paste dark brown/black permanent color on huge chunks throughout my hair. Yay me! I knew it was bad when she declined to take "after" pictures to share on social media. In fact, the color was so ashy, it almost looked like green dish soap. I know what you're thinking, how could things possibly get worse? Well, don't worry, they did. Debbie then proceeded to charge me $350! What? So, I went home and tried to digest what just happened - and by digest, I mean drank a ton of wine. The next morning, I called the salon back to book a color correction with another stylist. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to be booked with Eunice. Although there wasn't much she could do, she corrected what she could and gave me a game plan for how she'll fix it moving forward. Until then, I'm stuck with horrible hair and a bad taste in my mouth. The salon WAS nice enough to reimburse me for part of what I paid, but didn't offer to comp me until my hair is fully corrected, which is partially why I am only giving one star. The other reason is because of Debbie's response after messing up my hair. Not only did she charge me, but she didn't offer to fix it and gave me some sob story about how she works on 100% commission. I'm not writing this review to be vindictive, I'm just hoping it will prevent another person from going through what I just went through. Maybe Debbie was just having a bad day and I was the unlucky person who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. read more

I am gratefully giving two stars because the stylist are skillful and understand their clients needs. In fact I have utilized two different stylist and both were amazing! However, the lack of the other 3 stars is for the consistent poor quality in front desk service. I have been going to the salon for just over a year and will be switching because I can't stand the inability to properly book and verify appointments. My first issue was in the fall. They called November 4th or so saying I had missed my "confirmed" appointment, and that they could reschedule the appointment with a miss cancelation fee. I kindly told them there was no way I missed a "confirmed" appointment as I never received a phone call to confirm my appointment. If I had I would have canceled it, because I had a death in the family November 1st and I wouldn't have been able to make the appointment. I told her that I'm sorry but I didn't receive a call and there was noway I could of missed a confirmed appointment. I said I had a death and I may have forgotten the appointment but if I had received a call to confirm I would have known to cancel so I am sorry but there is no way I missed a confirmed appointment. She said well there is a fee, she was so rude about the whole thing. Long story trying to be made shorter.....I still am a client. I made an appointment in February for mid-June with a stylist whom was taking an extended break. In between I used a different stylist, which i saw mid-April, I enjoyed her work so I told her I see her again in 8 weeks or so. I also told the front desk to cancel my mid-June appointment with the stylist on extended leave. I made one appointment for mid-June with the new stylist. So tell me how I get a confirmation text mid-may confirming an appointment with the new stylist? It was not even 4 weeks since I been in? I said no, and said should have one in June. The front desk said oh you don't have one in June. I said well lets do so, since I thought I already had with the new stylist. So tell me how I get a confirmation text for mid-June confirming an appointment with the stylist on extended leave?! Really how hard is it to manage an appointment book? I call again, and asked when is my next appointment the front desk list both appointments which are within a week of each other!!! I said does that make sense? Seriously, love the stylist can't stand the lack of common sense from the front desk. read more

Love, love, love! After my hairdresser of 10 years moved halfway across the country, I was on the prowl. I tried a few different places and faces before I went back to PR at Partners in Reston. I was a customer there quite a few years ago, and I moved away from the area several years ago. In desperation, I decided to go back to 'the last place I remember being really happy with my hairstyle,' even though my former stylist is no longer there. What I found: the reception personnel have improved greatly (Yay!); the physical location (of the salon) had changed; and the shampooing station and protocol is completely different from when I was here years ago, but the service I received was again, extremely satisfactory. My stylist this time was Aja. She was phenomenal. She looked at the pictures I brought with me and asked probing questions about each. She told me what she thought would work and what likely would not. She was polite, courteous, respectful, and professional. Best of all, she knew what she was doing and she conquered my overwhelming 'what do I do now' frustration of looking for a talented and trustworthy stylist. The cons: 1- PR at Partners Reston tends to be a bit pricey (however, that said, prices have not dramatically increased over many years now); 2 - You need to remember to bring enough cash to cover tips as the salon is not set up to add this to your total bill (Ergo I hadn't brought enough to cover everyone - stylist and shampooer - at 20%...see #1) My experience was a textbook example of excellent customer service. Let me tell you something - for me to leave a salon and LOVE my hair, it takes work. I'm so happy I have met Hannah and let her work her magic on my hair. She's super fun and makes you feel at ease the whole time! I was weary of changing my hair color before my wedding in March but I am SO happy I did! I have been to this salon twice over the summer, once for a drastic cut and the second time for an ombré look to my hair. Both times I booked with Ray and she's simply amazing! She really takes the time to get to know exactly what you are looking for and to actually show you examples of the cuts/colors! Everyone here seems very friendly and knowledgeable. I've been twice now (First in October, and then again last night) to see Ray for balayage - she is AMAZING and definitely knows what she is doing. She has great style and makes me feel like she would never steer me wrong (and she hasn't!). I trust her 100% with my hair. Yes, it might be a tad pricey, but I don't mind paying a little extra knowing for certain I am going to leave LOVING my hair. Stop shopping around, just go to PR and book with Ray. I am a very low-maintenance hair person (no color, no highlights), and probably get my hair cut twice a year. That said, I wanted a grown-up haircut to repair the cheap (bad) one I got a couple months ago. My stylist sat down with me for 15 minutes and talked with me about what I wanted, and didn't want. She gave me an awesome shampoo and cut my hair exactly like we talked about. I had no problems with attitude like some of the other reviewers. I had absolutely no difficulty getting an appointment, probably because I wanted a reasonable price and therefore got one of the lesser-experienced stylists. However - she was great, so who cares? This seemed like a very relaxed salon, and I have since been back to get a blowout and had another very positive experience. read more

I can't believe some of the reviews I'm reading! I have never had a bad experience at the Reston PR at Partners. I've gotten my hair cut there at least five or six times with Shaina. She is absolutely amazing. She listens, and takes her time with you - when you are in her chair you feel as though she has no other clients than you. She keenly listens to what you want, and makes sure that the cut and look compliment your beauty, your lifestyle and if you are like me your need to be fashionable without spending hours studying magazines to keep up with trends. My first visits were fantastic when Camilla was there. Back then it was also a new salon with a refreshingly new business model. I they I left when she did, but decided to visit again with their other stylists. Every visit after that time was a poor experience. They topped themselves on every visit. The first time I returned and when I entered just to make an appointment since the door was open. The receptionist didn't even look up from her desk - she just rudely and abruptly said that they were closed and that I had to leave. Maybe she was having a bad day and I wasn't going to let her bad mood ruin my good one, so I let it pass. I like to write good review but I just can't win with this one. My last 2 visits were with Aja. I really find her attitude to be condescending on both visits. I was sort of put off, but I suspended my judgment until I saw the work which was what my bottom line was. The last visit was the last straw. For $115, she was supposed to give a cut and color the gray because I was going on job interviews soon. I ended up with a mullet, but thought maybe it would settle out. I couldn't stand it anymore and few days later had Hair Cuttery correct the "cut" for only $28. I really love what they did, and I'm keeping this cut for the next couple of years. I was so nice to have my needs listened to and verify to me what I was asking for without being challenged the whole time. When I went to my interview the following week I arrived at destination where I was interviewing. I decided to first take a few minutes to check myself in the mirror first and gather my thoughts. I was shocked to find several strands of hair that were entirely gray. I quickly snatched them out and went onto my interview. So why did I just spend $115 at PRP on if I'm ending up yanking out hair on my interview? On that last visit to the shop which was unseasonably warm that I forgot to collect my coat from their closet where they place clients' coats. When I called the salon a week later they said it wasn't there anymore. So now they've managed to lose it. That's the most I've ever lost on a salon visit, and considering the the hundreds of dollars the last visit lost me, I guess I should be glad money was the only thing I lost - at least I still have hair on head. read more

This was the worst salon experience that I have ever had. I loved the Manassas location, but decided to try Reston because I had a new job in the area....what a mistake! What is usually a 1 1/2 hour service took 3 hours. My stylist was apparently ( no explanation given or phone call ) running 45 minutes late, roamed aimlessly around the salon talking to others after I was finally seated, and did to my hair what I specifucally said that I did not like. And it gets worse....the rest of the staff is as unprofessional and under qaulified as it comes. The "assistant" could not seem to find my hair ( I left with no makeup after having pretty much my whole face scrubbed), and the conversations amongst themselves was not appropriate in much more than a bar. First, let me start by saying I opened a Yelp account JUST so I could write a terrible review for this establishment. I opted for the online scathing review because I doubt Aileen would show anyone the 10-page tear-stained handwritten letter I so desperately wanted to write. Let me start from the beginning: My cousin's wife, Kendra, recommended this place. She'd been going to Aileen for years--fifteen, to be exact. Aileen is out of my price range, so I opted for Christina. I went to Christina three or four times. She is unbelievably rude. She is dismissive and condescending when you try to tell her what you want, and while I have been getting my hair done professionally since I was about eleven, I am not the professional, nor do I pretend to be. Therefore, I will need to some assistance in finding the right words to describe what I'm looking for, thank you very much, dear Stylist... Christina, along with most stylists there, will try to imply with their tone of voice that you're being a tough customer to handle because you don't have a picture to show them. I have never been told "no" so many times by a salon stylist. I've been going to higher-end salons since I was eleven (appropriately, my mother instilled in me a high standard for good hair), and I have never been told quite so many times that they 'didn't have that color', they 'couldn't do that color', I didn't have the face for bangs, that that WAS what I asked for (no, no it wasn't, Christina, thank you very much!), or that they just plain didn't know how to do whatever the hell I'm asking for. A bunch of amateurs, is what I say. Unfortunately, they have no idea that if they don't keep their customers happy, then will go out of business. In sum, I've had to go back to have Christina fix my hair twice. I had it turned green by the younger, Russian-looking one. Alana, I think her name is. I really tried to have her be my regular hair stylist, unfortunately, while she is the most professional one there (don't worry, soon she'll be just as crass as the rest of them after a few more months working in that toxic culture), but she really lacks the skill. I wanted it to work with her, but alas, she has yet to be given the proper training from Aileen. A couple scenarios to tell you about: When asked by my neighbor, Kimmy, what the music was that was playing over the radio, Christina rolled her eyes, and sighed with a breath of disdain, "Um, it's my iPod...". Christina seems to really hate herself. I can handle snarky, broody personality types just like anybody else, but this is really reprehensible. On a separate occasion, I arrived to my appointment very early. In fact, they were just opening the salon to begin the day. The only stylist there was prepping some of the stations, and I think to keep me occupied, she struck up some conversation. However, I would have preferred she keep quiet, for the conversation was highly inappropriate. After a few minutes of talking to her, I learned that my stylist--the one who was now 20 minutes late--was late because she had received a DUI, and was likely waiting for her ride... a cab. I'm sorry, but what about my look, my expressions, or my demeanor says to you that I find your gossip newsworthy? Please tell me, because that is NOT the impression I want to give. Here's the worst piece of all of this, I'm their age! Yes, I'm a Millennial just like them, and I'm sick of many of peers creating poor stereotypes that the rest of have to live down. The majority of my generation IS sensical, HAS a good work ethic, KNOW what quality service is, displays proper manners in public, and CAN be professional. Why, oh, why are the worst of peer group all working at PR Partners? Most of the stylists talk about their clients to other clients. I can't tell you how many times I've, either, been told directly or overheard stylists talking about clients who JUST left the seat! Asia is the worst in this regard. The worst. She's really nosy, too. She sounds incredibly judgmental when she tries to have a conversation with you... The receptionists are bored, absent-minded, and completely lack any common sense. I'm starting to think that because my cousin is one of Aileen's better clients, I was never shown the true colors of Aileen. After all, an organization's culture comes from the top-down, so I can only imagine how rude, self-loathing, tired, bored, caddy, and unskilled Aileen must really be. Save your money. Save your breath. PR Partners is the worst salon I have EVER been to. I have since found the best salon I have ever been to: KLS Studios in Herndon, VA. (I commute from DC to get to them!) I have been a serial salon hopper for the past two years, and have not had any luck in finding a good fit until I visited Aja! She is fantastic! She actually took the time to really listen to my wants, provided great recommendations, and executed exactly what she said she would! I have fine hair and I like a layered look, especially around my face. She is the first stylist I've had in years to frame my face perfectly, pay attention to every detail, and cross check her work even after blow drying. About a month ago I made an appointment for haircut at PR at Partners. The receptionist said everyone was busy and she only had one timeslot with Hannah. She said the first 15 to 20 minutes of my appointment time will be taken for consultation. The day of the appointment I went in and was introduced to Hannah. She sat me down and asked what I was looking for. I showed her a picture and explained the texture for my hair and some of the challenges I was having. She proceeded to to giving her opinion and the consultation took less than two minutes. She started cutting my hair which took less than 10 minutes since she barely cut any hair. She could tell I was not happy with the haircut but since it was the end of the day she sort of push me out the door. The day after I called the salon to let them know I was not happy with my haircut and if Hannah could give me a call. The receptionist took my information but I was never given a call back. I have an appointment with another hairdresser/salon to fix the terrible haircut. I will never go back and will not recommend to anyone. Poor customer service! read more

I have been going to PR partners for a few years since I moved to DC. I tried a couple other salons which were awful until I found PR partners. It's in a very convenient location. I go to Cristina who is amazing. I never know what I want to do and she always comes up with great recommendations. My highlights are always the perfect color and look great. I am really picky when it comes to my hair and with Cristina it has always come out great, both the cut and highlights. She is great with long hair and really knows how to make it look good without me having to do a lot of work to it when getting ready each day. I definitely recommend Cristina and PR partners. read more
