I ordered from this restaurant for the first time. I had the Beef Goulash with dumplings. Definitely the best Beef Giulash that I ever had. It was pleasingly spicy, and yet, not tongue-burning. There were no noodle (the menu did not mention noodles), but then I don't know if noodles are something that's considered a regular pairing with the dish. I didn't like the dumplings they served, but that was the first time eating dumplings, so take that with some subjectiveness. A little pricey, I think. read more

I visited a couple weeks ago with my boyfriend, we were in the area and looking for somewhere we could have some lighter bites. My boyfriend was worried we might have been underdressed because it seemed semi-fancy, but I assured him we would be okay. The restaurant was very cute though, if it had been a little cooler I would have loved to sit on the patio for that great view. My wife and I were there for Valentines dinner. It was a bit slow after we ordered but they were busy and we were not in a hurry. The service was very good and the food arrived hot and delicious. First Rate Hidden Gem in the Scarborough Golf Club Area !! The description from the webpage says it all " A bohemian Czech and Slovak restaurant serving traditional meals in a casual country club setting overlooking the rolling hills of Masaryktown." A small group of foodies decided to band together one evening and descend on this intriguing place that was recommended by one of our group who, you guessed was from Eastern Europe and had eaten there many times. Our group was quite diverse as we had folks from all over the globe, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Russia, regions of China, Korea, Taiwan, Canadian First Nations, and others, who for some had never had traditional Czech food before. Since we were a large group to make things easier for us and the staff, we had the great folks at Prague prepare a set menu for us. We had three choices each for the apps, mains, and desserts. I went for the lovely mixed greens, shaved beet and feta salad which was a flavor explosion with fresh veggies and a great dressing. Next was the mouthwatering creamy Beef Stroganoff, soft tender seasoned slices of beef of a bed of thick euro-style noodles with gently steamed yellow beans, and we finished with a wonderfully house-made crepe. I care not what the others had as I was focused on my meal and the lovely lady I was with. But from what I heard there were no complaints about the food and the many Czech beers we polished off. Prague is a great space with an outdoor patio, great for summer nights and cooler evenings. There is plenty of space in the elegantly designed interior and a full-service bar with typical alcohols, wines, Czech and North America beers, wines and specialty liqueurs. Had a wonderful dinner here on a Sunday night. The service was great. They all seemed to work together unlike some other places where each server only attends to their owe areas. Every so often someone would go around and check on each table. The food was also very good. There were 3 of us and we ordered: * BRAMBORAK & GOULASH potato pancake filled with beef goulash - the beef was very tender & potato pancake was a delicious pairing. * BOHEMIAN PLATTER FOR TWO Wiener schnitzels, pork roast, Debreziner (pork) sausage, sauerkraut, red cabbage, dumplings, home fried potatoes, gravy and tartar sauce - what a great way to try a bit of everything. Been dying to come here and try it out. When I was invited to a wedding at this venue I was so excited I got to kill 2 birds with one stone. What a disappointment. This review is about the food only. It really sucked. It was so boring and bland. The schnitzel had no gravy/sauce/moisture. The vegetables were so undercooked they were just pretty much raw. Just because it's a wedding and maybe they chose a smaller food package doesn't mean you should compromise on quality. It's a good opportunity to showcase your food! Just visited Prague restaurant after almost 10years. Lot of changes and fortunately all of them are positive. I would start with a new owner and very good services... that should be the main reason for everybody who heard about the place in past to come and give it a seceond chance. I reside in Scarborough however I have never tried Prague Restaurant behind Masaryktown on Scarborough Golf Club road. I live nearby. Two of my friends wanted to try it as it was 2 of our birthdays just recently. My friend and I ordered the platter and the other friend the Weiner schnitzel. For 57.00 I expected the platter to be more substantial and I was a bit disappointed with the portions. The schnitzel was dry, which was disheartening as I love schnitzel. The Debreziner sausage was my favourite part of the platter as well as the red cabbage. The pork roast was above average however the gravy was weird, had separated, so we didn't try it! The Czech dumplings were strange and tasted like bread! By the way,incidentally our rye bread basket was cold although it came with pats of butter. The restaurant itself was lovely, although the washroom was badly in need of updating with old fashioned urinals very very close together! Candles were burning however the washroom smelled faintly like backed up sewage! As a former chef of Dolcé hotel, I was a bit disappointed. The server brought two of us, a complimentary scoop of vanilla ice cream with one candle in it and it wouldn't have been a big deal to give our other friend a scoop also. The service was good but the food was average. I am Ukrainian, other friend Russian and German. We had higher expectations especially since the prices were expensive. read more

My first time here although My sister recommended it do the 4 of us went and would go back. A laid back, homey kind of place which is on beautiful grounds with a patio overlooking gorgeous trees. The chicken paprika was very good using thigh meat which is my preference. Our husband's had the schnitzel which they both enjoyed. The negatives were: I ordered sweet potatoes fries and they brought regular which were not great as half were overcooked and hard. My husbands dish came with "home fries". My pet peeves is restaurants that offer this and they are deep fried,that's not home fries. How hard is is to make the proper dish , which is cooked potatoes cut up,throw some onion and peppers and paprika,cooked on the darn grill,it's not hard . I think a chef or took could learn to do this.... I want home fries not square French fries,thanks. read more

Four of us went to Prague Restaurant last night, it's a beautiful building on a large property of grass and trees, we sat on the patio over looking the meadow, it was like being on a golf course. It is very untraditional and doesn't even taste good. The waiters are not polite and the cooks kinda suck. Plus the glasses are dirty and you might be missing cutlery on the table. Brilliant food and service. Came here for a birthday party and I cannot get the wonderful tasting food out of my palette or dreams. We were served by a wonderful young ( and beautiful! ) girl who I think was named Emily??? -- At any rate she was so wonderful and took the time to explain all the dishes to us ( as we are west indian and had no clue ) I had the beef stroganoff and it was amazing. My wife had the cheese schnitzel and it was the BOMB.COM!!! My brother had the perogies and they even were so sweet to bring out a free dessert for him cause it was his birthday. Dinner for 3 with a bottle of wine, after dinner drinks and a beer was only $100 (before tax n tip) that is a steal of a deal, They have a wonderful outdoor patio/verandah that overlooks a grass valley of a golf course with nice views. We booked a celebration for 20 people. The staff gladly met with us and we preselected items for the customized menu to suit all tastes. On the day the service was outstanding. The atmosphere was cozy and warm with a piano player in the background. The food - too good to describe. The view is looking over the golf course. A beautiful setting. We had a fine time at dinner at the Prague Restaurant. Among the four of us, we enjoyed the chicken paprikash, the goulash, and the pork loin, as well as a soup and a bramborak appetizer. The service was outstanding: very friendly and helpful. The layout of the restaurant also means you can enjoy a conversation without shouting. what happens when you phone a restaurant to pre-order ahead and upon arrival no prep. Work has been done for you. What happens when you call 4x and talk to too many and they give you assumption that upon arrival that a plate of food will be nicely done and you are famished on a late Friday, but yet again nothing was done. You ask them "why", their rude, incomprehensible response is " we don't know you and you eat when everyone eats " Since WHEN Does a restaurant has everyone eating at EXActly the SAme TIme!!!!!! Near full house, no happy looking faces and it was near/pass 7:30Pm., not in the mood with their low class off the scale inhospitable treatment, I left for others to fend for themselves esp. The 2 hostesses married but the wife did not side with me. Much too stupid and lack of maturity to run a dinner club, wish it/she gets kick off the site, she has trouble getting people to rejoin her for other gatherings, it shows! By the way, photographs displayed after their dinner were pathetic (A piece of overly cooked meat and a FEW PIECES OF CARROTS, CELERY, ONION. 6 of us went to dinner on Sat evening. We were all disappointed. Service was very slow. Paper napkins rolled over the knife and fork looked cheap but prices were high. Waitress very disinterested. It took a long time to be served and one main course was forgotten. Really. Server said cook forgot to make it. Took 20 minutes for the order to arrive. No apology given. I had Snitzel which was very dry and tasteless . Stuffed with processed cheese slice and a few mushrooms. No one was happy. Very small servings of dry strudel. We shall not return. Diet coke was warm even with ice cubes in a tiny glass. Beef stroganoff had tiny pieces of beef, hardly any mushrooms, no noodles & thin bland sauce with no sour cream. Jak se máte? Impressive, huh? I know. Anyway, the Czech are not known for veggies or salads (I should know) - so really come here expecting to eat meat. You will be glad you did. First phone before you go because they often have private functions. It's a bit of a round about way to drive to, and you park next to the restaurant (you'll see this little sort of gazebo thingy next to the parking lot) pass that down the hill, to the second door for the restaurant entrance. There are coat racks there you can leave your stuff on. You'll be greeted by one of the two women who work there. They will seat you - and if you're in the in-crowd, you may even be fortunate enough to be seated with a view of the (actually much more scenic than it sounds) Scarborough Golf Club. Since we all know that Czech beer is the best, you need to order some. How? Pivo prosim (beer please). Then you should order the breaded mushrooms (you don't need 'em but they are tasty). Then, just go for the gold, get your money's worth and order the Bohemian Platter for Two ($29.50 - a great price). On it, you'll get: Pork schnitzel, two kinds of roasted meat, two kinds of cabbage (zeli - the purple is my fave) topped with debrecine sausage and served with home fried potatoes and dumplings. If you're a suck (or skinny) just order the pork roast with purple sauerkraut (still zeli) so tender, juicy and flavourful, balanced by the crunchy tartness of the cabbage. Yum! Oh, and if you can manage - order dessert - get the crepes with apricot jam (although I do want to try to strawberry dumplings, I'm sure they'll be good too). I Don't Know How They Stay In Business We recently had a very large event (approximately 120 people) at Prague and guests were disappointed with the food and service. The service was so slow that the first table had finished their meal while others were still waiting to be served. As the organizer I had to request, not once but twice, that they serve the desert. To make matters worse, they did not honour the agreed upon price per plate. Buyer beware of Prague Restaurant!! read more
