As someone who prefers female dentists, I love that the staff is all women. :) The team - Dr. Phillips, Julie, RDH, Kara, RDA, and the front desk staff - are friendly and thorough. The main reason this rating is 4 rather than 5 stars is that I felt they recommended work I didn't really need, specifically a crown. Dr. Philips recommended a crown on my bottom right molar where I had a root canal in 11/2017. I'm 8 years out from the procedure and neither the endodontist who did the root canal nor the 3 general dentists I saw between 2018-25 said I needed one. Though she said it's common practice to place a crown after a root canal to avoid the tooth from breaking, I'm reluctant to undergo a procedure on a tooth that has caused zero issues for 8 years. At first I thought she found something other dentists missed but later realized that 4 other dentists (endodontist followed by 3 general dentists) would have said something sooner if I really needed a crown. Other than the root canal, there was no abnormal findings clinically or on the x-ray that convinced me to follow Dr. Phillips' recommendation that I get a crown. Now, if I had a cavity, I would get that filled right away to avoid further decay. But when none of my previous dentists over the past 8 years told me I need a crown and I'm not having pain in that tooth, why create work when none is needed? She also recommended fixing a small chip on one of my front teeth and Invisalign from my bottom teeth, though both were cosmetic so I declined. By comparison, my previous dentist of 5 years NEVER recommended any of the above work. To her credit, Dr. Phillips wasn't pushy about getting the work done. When I asked if it's likely I'd lose the tooth over the next few months if I don't get a crown, she couldn't say. I know it's not always possible to predict medical/dental outcomes but her not knowing told me that I didn't have to make a decision right away and I'd likely be fine without the crown. If the recommendation for a crown was made because I had pain and/or a fracture/other abnormal pathology was found, I'd be more on board getting it, especially if I had been going to the practice for years and didn't need dental work beyond cleanings until now. But as a first time patient to the practice, having a procedure recommended for a tooth that hasn't caused pain or other issues for 8 years makes me question whether I truly need the crown or it's financially motivated. I moved back to my home state in late March so I cancelled the cleaning previously scheduled for April. If I were to see them again (as I want to move back to MN in a few years) and they recommended any dental work beyond bi-annual cleanings, I'd get a second opinion before agreeing to anything. However, I'd more likely find another dental practice that is more conservative in their recommendations, similar to the dentist I previously saw prior to moving to MN.

She's thorough, but also non-judgmental when you're home care isn't perfect. I'm always comfortable in her chair. Dr. Phillips is a highly trained cosmetic dentist that I sought out to do my work, now that I'm retired. So far, she's done one crown and it's my favorite! I'm truly looking forward to having more complex work done by this talented professional. The front desk staff is also wonderful; I feel so welcome, and they couldn't be friendlier!

Was looking for a new dentist and came upon Zeis Dental, due to the yelp reviews. I called their office and provided all my information/insurance information. My appointment was going to be roughly 2-months out. I asked them to run the insurance to ensure everything would be covered, as I was making the appointment for a general 6-month cleaning/checkup. The person who took the call was nice and personable. He said he would let me know if anything was out of the ordinary with my normal Delta Dental insurance and he would look forward to seeing me at my appointment. I hadn't heard from the dental office until the day before my appointment, and this was approx. 2 months from the time the appointment was made. A female left me voicemail at 11:00 and told me I had 3 or 4 hours to call back and confirm my appointment or they would cancel my appointment. When I listened to my voicemail, after my work day as my job doesn't pay me to talk on my personal phone, I called the office back to confirm my appointment for the next day. The girl, who answered the phone, stated they had already canceled my appointment and another patient is now in that slot. I asked her about the realistic demand of sending a reminder in less than 24hrs and requiring an instant call back from the working patient, or the appointment will be canceled. She told me that that is their policy and I should have responded earlier. She told me she could schedule me for an appointment 2 weeks later. At this point, I just wanted my 6-month cleaning/checkup so I had her put me in for the next appointment. She still stated she would not be able to send a reminder greater than 24hrs, but to make sure to check my phone around that time so the appointment doesn't get canceled again. (I have never heard of such shiftless demands coming from a dentist's office in my entire life.) 2-3 days before my next appointment I was contacted by this office and told they didn't accept my insurance. I was completely dumbfounded. On my initial call to make the appointment, over 2 months prior, I was told they took my insurance and would confirm there wouldn't be any out of pocket expenses or if there were they would let me know. Now, they don't accept my insurance. The guy told me told me they accept Delta but it must be the PREMIUM level and not the normal level of Delta Dental insurance. I asked him why he let almost 2 months go by without checking the insurance, as he agreed he would. He was not able to answer my question. Upon being told that Zeis Dental didn't accept my level of Delta insurance, I called Delta for clarification. They told me this office does accept Delta's regular insurance, but they have to submit a pre-authorization to Delta, prior to the dental appointment, so they know how much Delta will pay and how much may be left to the patient. I called Zeis dental back and advised them of this process. The same guy told me he was aware of that, but it could take a week or so to get the answer. The call was left that he would submit the pre-authorization to Delta Dental, so we would know if I would be required any out of pocket payment at my appointment. I had him repeat to me what he was going to do and he guaranteed me he would proceed in this fashion and get back to me with the results in approx. 2 weeks. It is now 3 months later, AND I STILL HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THIS OFFICE. I have since found another dentist. If you have anything other than a trust fund, which allows you to not work and stare at your phone all day for that acute reply window from this office, I would highly encourage looking at other dentists. This office presented an exemplary OVER-PROMISE and UNDER-DELIVER, coupled with an immense lacking care for my teeth. The amount of time they wasted also presents an extreme lack of care for my time. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!

But to the dentist I must go. I moved here from Tucson Az. so I didn't have one. I was referred to Smile Eden Prairie . I just finished a chemo treatment and developed sores in my mouth and pain in my lower gum. Anyone who is dealing with cancer and chemo knows what I'm talking about. My dentist was Dr. Sara Pham. We talked about my cancer issues and at first I wasn't sure if I needed some kind of specialist for my issues Well I was certainly wrong about that. Dr. Sara took her time analyzing my problem and started work on my mouth and gums. I feel more comfortable with a lady dentist (sorry gents) because I feel they are more sensitive to making sure I am more comfortable and no pain, and I mean NO pain! Dr. Sara did not disappoint me. She was as gentle as the lion in the Wizard Of Oz. Dr Sara had a very calming influence on myself and I'm sure on all her patients. Before I knew it she had all my issues corrected and I never felt a thing. My mouth feels so much better and my sores are on their way to a brighter day. I cannot overstate my happiness in finding a dentist that I won't be shaking in my boots to visit. Dr. Sara, thank you from a happy patient. Oh I forgot I didn't have dental insurance so I paid out of pocket and believe me when I say it was less then I expected which made me smile more. like in the name "Smile Eden Prairie." I gave Dr Sara 5 stars but I received 10 star dental treatment.

Dr. Molldrem is also extremely friendly, and he is able to quickly perform exams so you don't spend too much time waiting around. Several MONTHS later I have my teeth cleaning and not only could they not accommodate my allergies, they never had the intent to. Furthermore, they refused to coordinate care between me and my Medical Doctor to figure out appropriate treatment based on my Dr.'s medical orders. I asked politely to receive updates within the week regarding sussing out my treatment plan and they told me to get lost. I asked for recommendations on who else to go to if they couldn't get the job done and they told me to check with my insurance (HAH!). So here I am without any of the treatments they had agreed to help me work through. I called to file a complaint and the Eden Prairie location told me that this all had 'nothing to do with their professionalism' and that 'if I was unhappy with my care I could always find someone else'. I would say that treating me like a burden because I'm not filthy rich is a professionalism issue but whatever. Don't go here unless you love feeling awful.
