As is to be expected, some are a little rougher than others but they always seem open to feedback if you need something done differently. Dr. Molldrem is also extremely friendly, and he is able to quickly perform exams so you don't spend too much time waiting around. The reason I've bumped my review down to 4 stars is that my family has occasionally had issues with miscommunications between the office and insurance companies regarding payment and coverage, leading to some confusion. But otherwise, we've usually had great experiences with Molldrem Family Dentistry!

At first it seemed procedural but it was not long until they started offering expensive services like mouth guards for night botox to stop teeth grinding. It felt like scare sales tactics every time i went in. I eventually got two new crowns after some visits and genuinely thinking they were necessary. Both of them popped out in less than a year. I called the office to see what they could do. They said I would have to pay for it all over again and laughed at me telling me there is no warranty on crowns. This was after the office people talked to Dr. Molldrem and called me back. I already got one redone and have to do the other soon. I have to pay for the crowns twice! UPDATE because I almost forgot about the random $1,000 bill i got after i thought I was all paid up because, for (1) they messed up the insurance calculation on the crowns and for (2) they couldn't figure my insurance out for the teeth cleaning (which I had) that could have been resolved had THEY not waited so long.

The cleaning itself took a little bit but it was painless and didn't feel long at all! I was surprised to be informed that I had the option to turn on the massage chair! Yes please! Dr. Tran was a gentle spoken person that made sure your visit was perfect and answered any questions you would have and gave suggestions on next steps. After my cleaning, I was escorted to a smaller room where I sat down with Ashley to discuss my insurance coverage and book my next appointments. She was happy to find out different payment plans and contact my insurance to find out more about my benefits. Super helpful!! Overall, I cannot believe I've found a Dentist that makes me (almost) fall asleep on the chair from being so relaxed :) I've already made sure my boyfriend also goes to Partners in Dentistry! Bottomline is... I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!

I'm so glad that the Merrys are covered for me, & if they ever happen to end up out of network, I might consider breaking my personal rule so I can continue to be their client. I had no wait in their office for my annual check up & cleaning, except for the few minutes that I took to update my paperwork. The front desk staff was helpful when I explained my insurance doesn't mail cards for us to use at appointments, & they were able to get my benefit info any way. Graham took care of my annual exam, & Kelly took on my cleaning. Both were super professional & better yet, friendly! It was one of the most entertaining dental appointments that I have had because Kelly kept the conversation going & we chattered about high school & college reunions. If you're the type of person who hates conversing with your health care providers, then this isn't the office for you, but if you enjoy a more personal experience & forming a trusting relationship with them (& being treated like a person, not a patient), then don't pass up the Bruce Merry office! Best of all, you'll be treated to Keurig coffees & hot cocoas. Any dentist office that promotes coffee drinking is a winner with me. No one flinched when I grabbed a cup on my way out the door. (Yes, you just cleaned my teeth, & now I'm ruining your handiwork by indulging in more coffee for the day...oops!) For once, I'm actually not dreading going back to the dentist in six months...

As someone who prefers female dentists, I love that the staff is all women. :) The team - Dr. Phillips, Julie, RDH, Kara, RDA, and the front desk staff - are friendly and thorough. The main reason this rating is 4 rather than 5 stars is that I felt they recommended work I didn't really need, specifically a crown. Dr. Philips recommended a crown on my bottom right molar where I had a root canal in 11/2017. I'm 8 years out from the procedure and neither the endodontist who did the root canal nor the 3 general dentists I saw between 2018-25 said I needed one. Though she said it's common practice to place a crown after a root canal to avoid the tooth from breaking, I'm reluctant to undergo a procedure on a tooth that has caused zero issues for 8 years. At first I thought she found something other dentists missed but later realized that 4 other dentists (endodontist followed by 3 general dentists) would have said something sooner if I really needed a crown. Other than the root canal, there was no abnormal findings clinically or on the x-ray that convinced me to follow Dr. Phillips' recommendation that I get a crown. Now, if I had a cavity, I would get that filled right away to avoid further decay. But when none of my previous dentists over the past 8 years told me I need a crown and I'm not having pain in that tooth, why create work when none is needed? She also recommended fixing a small chip on one of my front teeth and Invisalign from my bottom teeth, though both were cosmetic so I declined. By comparison, my previous dentist of 5 years NEVER recommended any of the above work. To her credit, Dr. Phillips wasn't pushy about getting the work done. When I asked if it's likely I'd lose the tooth over the next few months if I don't get a crown, she couldn't say. I know it's not always possible to predict medical/dental outcomes but her not knowing told me that I didn't have to make a decision right away and I'd likely be fine without the crown. If the recommendation for a crown was made because I had pain and/or a fracture/other abnormal pathology was found, I'd be more on board getting it, especially if I had been going to the practice for years and didn't need dental work beyond cleanings until now. But as a first time patient to the practice, having a procedure recommended for a tooth that hasn't caused pain or other issues for 8 years makes me question whether I truly need the crown or it's financially motivated. I moved back to my home state in late March so I cancelled the cleaning previously scheduled for April. If I were to see them again (as I want to move back to MN in a few years) and they recommended any dental work beyond bi-annual cleanings, I'd get a second opinion before agreeing to anything. However, I'd more likely find another dental practice that is more conservative in their recommendations, similar to the dentist I previously saw prior to moving to MN.

I feel they tried to trick me into agreeing to a $937 procedure. I went in for the new patient special - $100 for a cleaning and inspection. They recommended I get a nightguard to prevent my teeth wearing (for $937!). The secretary I spoke with on the way out explained the nightguard, then handed me a piece of paper saying (I'm paraphrasing) "I agree to have this procedure performed at a later date and pay all costs." She told me "please sign at the bottom" agreeing that I EXPLAINED it to you, then let's talk about your next appointment." I said "I'm not comfortable signing because I don't want to go ahead with the procedure." She said "you're just signing agreeing I EXPLAINED it to you, not that you agree to pay and have it done." I said " that's not what the contract says." What if I believed her and signed, chose not to have the procedure done, and then noticed months later a $937 charge on my card? Could I later go back and say "she told me I was just signing agreeing that she EXPLAINED it to me, NOT to pay for the procedure?" They'd say "well, you signed it, so you're screwed." Luckily this didn't happen because I didn't sign, but I had another business scam me like this (Anytime Fitness) and they denied telling me that. The lesson is ALWAYS read what you sign and never trust what they tell you verbally. I can't prove this was the intent but it makes me VERY suspicious. No matter how great their service, this completely ruins it for me.

I obtained a treatment plan and the cost of this plan from my dentist in Florida. Since there was extensive work required the amount of this plan was very high. Before, I committed to starting this treatment, I was going to obtain two more estimates and obtain additional treatment plans. Dr. Rizvi is a dentist in my insurance network. Although I had been to this facility in the past, I was not overly impressed with it. However, in reviewing Dr. Rizvi credentials on the website, I was impressed with him. I was led to believe from his website that he could do the extractions and do the implants. I emailed Dr. Rizvi from Florida and told him I wanted another opinion and could he give me an opinion and a treatment plan. Dr. Rizvi agreed to meet with me and said this visit would be of no charge. Not only did he charge me for this visit he did not give me a treatment plan and an opinion. His solution was to make referrals to an oral surgeon for extractions and a periodontist for implants. I declined his referrals as my current periodontist would do the extractions and implants. I went in for a cleaning at Dentistry by Design. The hygienist was planning to do x-rays which I declined, and I explained to her that my periodontist had done x-rays and in the past week and that I had paid $596 for this work. I had given Dr. Rizvi a flash drive of these x-rays. She appeared to be miffed at my refusal for x-rays and asked the dentist if she should proceed with the cleaning without x-rays. She did proceed with an abbreviated cleaning as it only took 15 minutes, and cleaning usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour. I emailed Dr. Rizvi and requested that he not invoice my insurance. I explained to him that since the hygienist had done such a shotty job, I was going to have to have them recleaned. Dr. Rizvi did not call me to further discuss this matter, but he did bill my insurance company. Not only did they invoice the insurance company, but the explanation of benefits showed that they showed a tax on the service. I called the business agent and told her I did not think taxing me for this service was legal. She assured me that it was legal. I contacted my insurance company, and I was informed that I should not be taxed. I again called the business agent at Dentistry by Design, and I was told it was a provider free even though on the explanation of benefits it clearly states it is a tax. I again called the insurance company and was told that a provider fee was not legal if it was an in-network provider. The insurance company said they were going to file a complaint against Dentistry by Design. Another concern is with the appliance that was made when my front teeth were extracted. This appliance is poor fitting, and it is causing multiple sores in my mouth. In a recent visit to another dentist, she filed the appliance and so it fits better. A lesser concern is their poor communication with me. They were to call when my appliance was ready, which they never did. I had to call them and when I asked if the appliance was in, they said they needed to check and was told they would call me back, which they never did. I had to call them, and they told me it was ready, but I needed to wait to see if I could pick it up. Once again, I had to make another call about the pick up of the appliance. Another concern was bad information about pricing. I also inquired about the cost of crowns for my implants, and I was told $7,000 per implant. This seemed to be an extraordinary cost as most crowns range from $2,300 to $3000. I again questioned the fee and a different person said she thought the original quote was for a total implant even though when I questioned the first person about the crowns, I made it clear I was only talking about the crowns she gave me this very high quote. It should also be noted that my experience with Dr. Rizvi reveals that he does not do implants. It should also be noted the internet shows Dr. Rizvi as an oral surgeon, and yet he was going to refer me to an oral surgeon for my extracts. Mary Ann
