Everything is perfect with this Donair, I find the ratios are always perfect (been to other places where it's to much meat to veggie or to much sauce, etc...). Also the service is always great, Robbie has an amazing memory and it feels like he remembers every single person that walks in to his restaurant, and unlike any other place he treats you as if he invited you into his house, he will talk about your work and what you've been up to etc. I will always be a loyal customer as long as he is making donairs and will recommend this place to everyone I know.

The fellow at the counter greeted me as I walked in. I asked him what a shawarma is so he patiently explained that it's served the same way as a donair but the meat is prepared differently. He then offered to give me a sample of chicken shawarma meat and naturally I obliged. It was quite tasty so I decided that since I'm picking up supper for my wife and I, I should get one of each. The total with taxes but before a tip was just over $26.00. In a few minutes my order was ready to go. Upon arriving home I cut each one in half (not an easy task for food that should be unwrapped gradually as eaten). This way we could both try the donair and the shawarma and see which one we like best. As it turned out my wife arrived at the same conclusion as I did. We both enjoyed our meal but found the donair did not have a lot of flavour. On the other hand the shawarma was delicious! When ordering it I took the counter guy's suggestion to use garlic sauce. Perhaps it was that combination, I don't know for sure, but it had the flavour that makes me looking forward to my next shawarma, and not splitting it with anyone. Nearly every time I've eaten a donair or shawarma I've picked it up as a take-out order. However some people must eat in as there was plenty of seating in the bright, contemporary and clean dining area. You certainly won't have to stand while waiting for your food. They have free TELUS WiFi but don't serve coffee. I'm glad to see that Mac T Donair and Shawarma has opened up in this part of the city as there are not many in the southwest. I love donairs and there is a standard for which they must be held to because there are so many donair restaurants with so much history here in Edmonton. When a shop asks me if i want the regular toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, onions plus donair sauce, I expect thats what will be inside... when I kept biting into a tough chewy piece of vegetable, I pulled it out, and realized that, in fact, it was a huge piece of CABBAGE! In fact instead of lettuce, the greenish vegetable this shop is using is large cut chunks of CABBAGE... not lettuce. I need not say more, but I should have known when the person put shredded sprinkles of cheese on top of watery gravy on what was supposed to be poutine... I couldn't see what he was doing behind the counter with the donairs, but had I seen, I would have questioned him right there... I like cabbage, but normally when it has been diced and seasoned as a coleslaw or salad type of thing. And if a restaurant asks me and confirms what their normal toppings are, I expect that is what I would get... this is extremely disappointing and verging on insulting. Listen, if you are trying to sell a product (especially a culturally/regionally significant one), expect that you will be held to the standards. Not only that it was fresh, it was filled with a layer of lettuce, onions and tomatoes. Also make sure that you get the sweet sauce, it totally completes the flavour. I'm really interested in trying their burger next time it claims that it's one of the best .. time to end the debate haha has anyone tried it? Let me know what you think
