I have had two procedures here. One was about 5 years ago and the second one recently. Both were wisdom tooth extractions. The office staff is professional and friendly. The same doctor did both of my extractions. He did a good job and amazingly painless. I rarely have not even felt the first Novocain injection! Good place. I would have given it 5 stars but there was some early insurance confusion and I also had a full mouth x-ray done even though I just had one the week before at the dentist. I went their for a tooth extraction and provided them my insurance card. They made a copy and later, took me back for my procedure. Afterwards, they THEN and only then decided to tell me they DONT TAKE MY INSURANCE!! They charged me $666! Save your money and frustration and SKIP this place for sure! You'll thank me! read more

Dr. Valladares was exceptionally kind, and excellent in extracting the very last tooth on the bottom. As he mentioned, it would only take 4 minutes, but he had to wait until I was numb. During the waiting time we had good conversation. He and staff provided detailed instructions on how to take care of the area. I went back for him to check it; it was good. This was 2 months ago, and I have recommended him to quite a few people. The staff was very caring as well. Previously had my bottom wisdom teeth removed from another doctor who is no longer in practice. sat in the chair, first nurse had to run to the office and get medical/health paperwork where I had listed I had been previously under anesthesia because of my bottom wisdom teeth removal. However the first nurse overlooks the entirety of the paperwork she left to grab and asks if I've ever been under anesthesia, while an x-ray is shown on screen with BOTH BOTTOM teeth removed. Doctor Erickson comes in a few minutes later and does the exact same thing, questioning whether or not I've had my bottom teeth removed, stumbling over words that were unnecessary, if doctor Erickson or the first nurse had bothered to check my paperwork. Also- nail polish (only one nail) is needed for the pulseox. Never in my life(or my mothers) has anywhere needed a bare nail to get a read from the pulseox. Explaining this to doctor Erickson, he abruptly leaves the room and gets another what I think is a nurse or doctor(never introduces themselves), and grabs my finger explaining to my mother, who wasn't the patient, why a bare nail is apparently necessary in their offices. Leaving his practice, I have wasted my mothers as well as my time, to be told that I still had my bottom wisdoms teeth removed and that my nail polish needed to come off, quite possibly by rude and homophobic staff. read more

Do NOT use their service unless you have DEEP pockets. If they determine that you're a candidate for sedation... listen carefully: you will likely pay FULLY out of pocket for a service that they broker (and then take NO responsibility for the billing or cost). They just wash their hands of it, and leave you FULLY footing the bill. So for my extractions- they got paid $1300 (half by me) and the anesthesia group that THEY set up got paid $1700 (All by me!). Insurance won't cover a dime and this office said, that's on you not use. BEWARE! You may end up paying a LOT MORE than what they tell you! They only care that they got paid- and not that the service that they contracted is SCREWING you. read more

Great experience here. My son had to get out his impacted wisdom teeth. I had a bad experience with this eventin my younger days, so I was little concerned. We're also at that point where my son needs to start taking responsibility for his health, so I hoped that the Dr. would talk to him mostly and not me. I had several people, including our orthodontist recommend Dr. Erickson. So I went in with great confidence. Our consultation appointment went very well. He spoke directly to my son about the procedure and how things might go afterwards. He answered all the questions we had and then we booked the surgery. After we arrived, he was taken, teeth were out and he was finished earlier than expected. He had some swelling, but overall has recovered quite nicely. I have to address the comments below about the cost. We have EXCELLENT health insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The extraction of impacted wisdom teeth is considered a medical procedure and was covered by our health, not our dental, insurance. Blue Cross/Blue Shield does not contract with oral surgeons, so we had to pay out of network costs plus anything about "reasonable and customary" charges. Who decides what's "reasonable and customary"? Do they throw darts? Do they use medical fees from the 1920s? Those numbers are ungodly low. Anyway, after our consultation, someone from the office gave us a worksheet telling us what portion of the bill was our responsibility. It seemed high to me, so I spent 45 minutes talking to our dental insurance and our health insurance to verify the numbers. The numbers from the office were 100% correct. We still had to pay $700 after the insurance, which seemed high to me, but any medical bill seems high to me! So if you are one of the unlucky ones with wisdom teeth problems, this is your guy! read more

Do not go to this practice it has been one problem after another. The Dr is very kind. My 3 children had a consult with him and he was wonderful. Scheduled the procedures was great. Then the wheels fell off. The staff is lazy and awful to work with. They do not fill out forms for insurance correctly and when it's denied due to this they will not work to correct it. My insurance which is Executive Premium BCBS PPO that covers EVERYTHING 100% denied the anesthesia which was covered for same thing years ago and office staff would not help try to solve issue. Fine I take kids to our regular dentist to have the 4 teeth pulled from each for overcrowding under local. Well of course my son has a root issue which prevents dentist from doing it. Back to Erickson I come. It takes them 10 days to submit insurance then Lauren tells me it's done and I call insurance a week later wondering what's taking so long and they never received it. Lauren is now very rude on phone with me and says fine I'll resubmit but it can take 3 weeks that was 8/29. Find out on 9/12 that it's approved 100% except for anesthesia. Fine just do it under local. Schedule it which also is ridiculous they don't give you an exact time till 2 days before they give you a 3 hr window Fine. An hour later office manager call me back oh we can't do it under local it HAS to be with anesthesia per Oral Surgeon fine. I call my husband HR and call BCBS on conference call to find out why it's not covered if it's only way procedure can be done and insurance tells me it's because the office did not submit narrative stating why it needs anesthesia. I call Lauren back. They will not submit narrative. States that it's not them that would say it's medically necessary. Huh?? Then let's schedule under local and they state has to be with anesthesia. I feel this seems pretty necessary to me. I ask that they submit it. No Lauren says. I ask to speak to Dr no can not do that either. Ask for office manager she's off. They will call me tomorrow. This process has been going on since 11/2018 and now I will need to start all over with another surgeon ‍ read more

I had one extraction and 2 implants. I was extremely nervous and was given something for it for the night before and morning of. I was lightly sedated and was comfortable. I took the follow up medicine as prescribed. After about the 3rd day it was much better. The office staff was wonderful. I found all the assistants to be very compassionate. They assisted with paperwork. I even got 2 follow up calls just checking on me. I came back for a follow up visit in a week and dr Erickson was very supportive before during and after my procedure. He made sure I was comfortable and infection free. Thank you for being a good experience with such a not so good start (having to have teeth removed and implants added). Worst-run practice I've ever encountered. Went in for surgical consultation, was quoted about $500 out of pocket for my procedure (I have an awesome no-deductible dental plan). They called several times in between the consultation and my actual procedure, confirming the same amount up to the day of the appointment. They even had a photocopy of my insurance card for about a month. I show up for my surgery, find out I was misquoted by over $1000.00! When I asked what happened, the office manager got very rude and said that "Well I DID leave you a message, don't you check your messages?" Indeed, she DID leave me a message... 15 minutes earlier... when I was already in their office, and my phone was on silent per her instructions. By Xray, and obseavation, these were dificult extraction as these teeth were buried in bone and tissue. Honestly it was like poetry in motion, as he worked with his team. Can not say enough good things about the practice. Was referred to Dr. Erickson through an ENT after surgery for a follow up appointment. I had many questions involving my insurance coverage and the front desk was more then happy to answer any of my questions and follow up with my insurance to make sure I was in network. The first time I called the office was 10 minutes after the office had closed and the receptionist answered on her way out. This office is a 5 star when it comes to customer service. Well, where to begin? I had a bridge that came off due to cavity under bridge which then became infected. My Dentist removed bridge, treated cavity, and resolved infection. The post tooth had to come out to further repair problem. Went to Dr. Mark F. Erickson, DDS to have this remaining post of tooth pulled. I have NO complaint about his ability as an oral surgeon, however, it is the business end of the experience that is somewhat outrageous! First of all, it cost me close to $80 just to see the Lad!!! I had excellent dental insurance with Metlife Dental, and he was going to take maximum advantage of this. Then he really threw us for a loop. Now, keep in mind that I said his care of my dental problem was just fine. He would not do anything until he was PAID in Full up front. This included his estimate of two 15 minute sedation costs of $314 per fifteen min. estimates or $628.00. Here is the bizarre part. From when we (my wife was with me) walked into his surgical suite from the waiting room, a total of 12 minutes elapsed. That's correct - we could not believe it and were pleasantly surprised with the surgical results! On the way out of the office, my wife remarked, "We need to talk to them reg. charges as we were charged for a half hour @ $628, and it only took 12 minutes!" while we both looked at our watches! This is where the circus begins! We stopped at front desk to talk with someone reg. this dilema. The two gals sitting there tell us we have to talk with business manager, but she busy with a very important phone call! No problem! I was NOT in much of a mood to talk with anyone at the time with a swollen mouth and a mouth full of gauze! We asked them to have her call us reg. charges, and they said they would. Never received a call, so about a week later, we called them. Business Manager was again busy, but they said they would have her call. Again, no call! So, after at least another week, I called again. I advised the gal who answered that I would wait on phone or come in to office until I could talk to someone in charge there. All of a sudden, the Business Manager was available! Well, within seconds, I was no longer the patient/customer, but, rather, the enemy and being attacked full force. She told me they had no idea where I was getting my times from, and that both my wife and I were wrong and implied we were trying to get away with something! She said, "Our times are not wrong because they are in the computer."! I have NO idea what that means, but I do know we had a good surgical experience that we were overcharged for that took only 12 minutes while we were charged for a half hour, and noone wants to correct that fraud! Unfortunately, I have been handling some other physical challenges since then, but TG I am now able to address this crime. I will be contacting all the appropriate professional organizations, and we will be contacting The DuPage County States Attorneys' Office with a Fraud Complaint. I am a Senior Citizen on a fixed income, and, unfortunately, some businesses make us targets for fraud. We will try fight this, so others are not "ripped off" like we were! James P.
