I contacted PMR by email regarding the sale of my vintage Baum and Mercier watch. I uploaded photos along with an appraisal.An appointment was made at the Tanque Verde office.I arrived at the office and they were unaware that I was coming and seem to have no clue about the value of my watch or jewelry in general. The woman took a picture of my watch and sent it to their "watch specialist" in California who offered a value of less than1/3 of what A similar item but not the same quality was selling for on eBay. I left there less than an hour ago and had a funny feeling the woman I was talking to was either trying to get more out of me than she should have or thought I was an idiot... or both. I went in and she evaluated my jewelry and I realized I was dressed very casual and looked like I got hit my quarantine but thought I would'nt get judged in Tucson (having previously lived in the dc area). She definitely had a slight tone that made me feel like a child or incompetent. She kept asking me if I had more jewelry to sell and had a very disingenuous reaction when I said I had jewelry that I misplaced and needed to sell. But that didn't bother me. She quoted me $40. I said no thanks and that I needed to do more research and she immediately disengaged with me and wasn't even pretending to be nice. I was first told they didn't have the tools to do that, then a gentleman named Dart who fixes watches, asked to look at it and said he thinks he can help. He was able to adjust the watch to fit. First time going to PMR today, I knew what I was bringing in and roughly the amount I should receive for 18k gold bracelet weighing 5.7g at scrap price today should have been 240.00 aprox. PMR however only offered 147.00 signifigantly less than scrap price so I wont be going back to them, they were very nice and knowledgable I will give them credit for that I do not aggree with them giving the most money for buying gold though read more

I could kind of understand, but it was not the most professional way to treat someone in this kind of environment. The trainee was nice enough when I brought in about twenty pieces from an estate sale to check the gold content and platinum content. But the manager, or whoever he was, spotted my sapphire ring and clearly called the owner, who sailed in and eagerly started looking at it, taking photos to send to his friend, and trying to shuck and jive me into giving it to him for a song. First he tells me it is "tanzanite." Trainee believes him. They test it and it is a sapphire. Then he tells me it is not that good a color. Tells me it is four, maybe four and a half carats. Says it is worth $1,500, maybe even as much as $2,000, if I am interested in selling. It is a 7.58 carat natural blue Ceylon sapphire, unheated, emerald cut, eye clean, mounted on platinum with side diamonds. I am now selling it through a very reputable jewelry company on consignment, I will get $16,500 when it sells. Their ads claim they pay the most; not in my experience. read more

I took my engagement ring into this place today and requested an estimate on what it was worth. Without looking at the ring for more than 3 seconds, no lie, the guy hands it back and says it's not real. Of course, I was pretty pissed off and immediately called my fiancé and let him have it. I went in with several high end items (gold & diamonds) and he had me spread them out *in the lobby* (no privacy here!), poked a couple of them, and told me to sell them online. He weighed a gold omega that I had, at 22 grams. Then he offered me $375 for it. Gold is presently $1300 a troy ounce, correcting for gram weight and 14K gold, it comes to around $22 a gram for the gold value. 22g x $22 is $440+ selling it for scrap gold. Nice guy, informative but NOT out to give anyone a good deal. Be well informed when you go in. read more
