On 8/31 I made an online appointment, through Repair Pal, for 8:30, 9/5. I showed up at the shop and there was no record of my appt in their computer. I do not live in town and drove 30 miles for this appt. The office staff were nice but had no explanation why my appt was not in their system. I rescheduled and asked for an estimate. The shops estimate was approximately $400.00 more than the Repair Pal estimate. I left and scheduled at another shop for a much better price. After I left, Carlos did attempt to reach me by phone but I was done. The shop staff did what they could but the Repair Pal appointment system and cost estimator are useless and cost this shop a customer. read more

The first time I went here this place seemed reasonable but that was just for a smog check. The next time I came I got ripped off. They claimed they knew what was wrong with my truck and why it was stalling so I gave them the go ahead to fix it. They gave me a quote of about $200 and I thought all was well until I show up to pay and suddenly the price jumps to over $400. My truck still stalls and they didn't seem to fix anything at all. Worst shop in Woodland took in my eclipse cause my radiator hose ruptured while driving and my car started overheating coolant got all over my engine.so anyways got it towed to these dumbasses they requested $100 just to see what was wrong with it after a day of looking at it the tech said my car's computer fried cause of the coolant that got on it he said that was the only problem he told me the computer was going to be $1500 + the $100 to look at my car so I decided to get a second opinion took it to another shop and found out it was my head gasket that was bad not the computer and ended up paying $600 for that instead of $1500 now my car runs perfect. Don't waist your time here people read more

She always remembers me and is so so knowledgeable on everything from cars to parts to pricing. She is even great with my 90 year old dad whose hard of hearing and not so polite, even though he doesn't realize it. She runs the place. Was driving down the 5 from Oregon home to NorCal when the battery light came on (with 100+ miles to go) due to a snapped alternator belt. Called AAA and got towed here as it is a AAA certified shop. It was Sunday night, so they were closed. I took the car in first thing in the morning on Monday (after having to have spent the night in the town) without an appointment. The staff there was courteous and professional. They had a full schedule but was still able to fit me in almost first thing and got me on the road in less than 2 hours. No hassle and quick. Very nice waiting room with some good coffee, filtered water, newspapers, magazines and a nice woman's bathroom (the men's is out in the garage.....don't blame them). :) I came here for an oil change and was pleasantly impressed. The ladies behind the counter were easy to deal with and very polite. The mechanics explained everything to me with regards to the vehicle inspection, and the total time there was about an hour. I brought my car to Carlos at Precision on a recommendation through friends, after another shop had been unsuccessful in diagnosing the problem. Carlos took accepted the challenge which took several days to diagnose. with the weekend looming and repairs unfinished, the shop loaner car was already in use, but Carlos rented a car for me to use all weekend, all on his dime! When my car was ready, I picked it up and drove it to work, only to discover the problem was still there. I called Carlos right away and he refunded me the total cost of parts and labor, while he continued to seek the problem. Throughout the entire experience, Carlos was pleasant, fair and professional, which extends to front desk staff Stephanie and Amber, who kept me updated throughout. I am a true Yelper, and I use the reviews as a guideline, preferring to make my own opinion -especially if the reviews are all over the place! With Precision, it is just like that ! You have 4 and 5 stars...then a 1 star... So, that being said, I knew that they had worked on an older car of my daughters and did a great job- so I took in a tired and ill GMC. it had been way too long since this car had any love...it was a mess!! Carlos patiently wrote down all of my concerns and explained the diagnostics he would perform. I was given a ride back to work-which is 4 miles out of town and they stayed in contact with me throughout the entire time they worked on my poor car. When it came time to decide what to repair and what we could leave- he helped make the decisions. I truly believe that Carlos and the entire staff try very hard to please their clients and work just as hard on the technical side of things. Car repairs? NO ONE likes them- they cost $$, we may not understand what is wrong with our cars and that is stressful too. But Precision takes the sting out of all of it. After almost passing out when I learned the price of the job I needed done at my local shop, I shopped around and Precision was the lowest by far. I made an appointment and went in. I was welcomed by woman at counter to check in. She informed me how long it would take. Turns out it was less than she said on phone. It went by so fast. I checked out and paid and was on my way. I was recently stranded at a rest stop and the tow truck driver recommended Precision Auto. It was 30 minutes from their closing time, yet they took me in and said they would run a diagnostic. That alone seemed amazing! Carlos went above and beyond by going ahead and doing the repair. I was recently quoted over $5000 for a new transmission at a local HONDA dealership who would not work with my warranty company. After a week of back and forth and being without my Honda hybrid,my warranty company recommended Precision Auto Care in my hometown of Woodland. So its high time to update my experience. I have used Precision for years, since Mike owned the place, and always had excellent service. But after the last time I took my car in I had to do some work on it myself, and I found a couple things that really upset me. First, they left the radiator cap off. I found this not too long after they had worked on my car. No big deal, people make mistakes. I did have to clean my engine compartment because coolant got all over everything, and had to get a new radiator cap. I let it slide. But recently I had to remove the guard pan on my Tundra. I found they stripped three of the bolts in the guard pan, and the others were so tight I had to use a breaker bar to loosen them. Very, very disappointing, since the bolts in question are only supposed to be torqued to about 50 PSI. They must have used an air ratchet set on very high pressure. Sacrificing quality to save time. The other thing is, I had an appt with them for an oil change, but after this I decided to change the oil myself. Just did the job and found out that when they last changed my oil they also torqued the oil drain plug on so tight I again had to use a breaker bar to loosen it. I ended up cracking a craftsman socket, and had to use a case hardened socket to remove it. That is absolutely ridiculous. Not sure what they are thinking using air tools set on that high of air pressure to tighten oil drain plugs, but any mechanic who knows anything should know not to do that. Sorry guys, I can't bring my car back to you again. read more

My wife and I have been going to Precision for years to see Mike, the owner. A totally great guy and honest too. I like to do a lot of repairs myself and when I can't they have always helped me. These few bad reviews are probably from people who were shocked at the repairs their cars needed and probably due to lack of routine maintenance. Lying about what was said or done doesn't do anybody any good. Remember, Mike keeps records of all his work. I went to the filtered reviews and noticed 8 out of 9 5-star reviews. I have a 1986 Mercedes 300E my AC compressor died, Precision located a NOS Denso compressor purged the system updated to R134A and I am now able to enjoy the wonderful dry heat of the Sacramento Valley. The work was performed in August 2012 and the AC system worked better than when I purchased the car new in 1986 when it originally ran R12. In July 2013 an O ring failed and the system stopped pumping cold air, I took the car back and the AC was returned to life under their one year warranty plan. I've been meaning to write a review, but never got around to it, until now. Precision did some work on my car back in February, timing cover seal, water pump and assorted misc items. All I can say is they are fantastic to deal with..and more importantly, the work they perform is second to none. Have not had a single issue since I left the shop, and better priced than the dealer where I usually take my car. In this day and age, it's nice to fully trust a repair facility to do honest, quality work. Carlos and the entire office staff were great. Never tired to sell me something I didn't need, actually gave me a couple small items at no charge because they were left off the final bill. Went in with a failed smog with 90s vehicle were very professional helpful and descriptive. Helped me out when I went in for a vehicle inspection gave an explanation and showed test results of the exact problem. Next two days in shop car passed smog. I did a quick start and the power steering belt jumped off. Precision Auto said te belt was chewed up and would have to be replaced along with the main belt. $173.00 later and it was done. I asked for the old belts. They were in perfect condition, like new and had been replaced a few months earlier. I was scammed, cheated and played for a sucker. I do not reccomend Precision Auto Care to anyone and feel i deserve a refund of at least $125.00 I should only be charged for putting the original belt back on the pulley. read more

I already had gotten one quote, but since I heard good things about Precision, I wanted to have an idea what they would charge. I waited 7 hours to be called back, only to give me an estimate for $460 higher than another reputable mechanic in town. They might be good, but I can't afford them, and not exactly sure why they charge so much more than others. read more

They messed up diagnostics on two different vehicles that I brought to them. The first one they say can be repaired for under $500. Oops! After the repair the issue remains and they offer a partial refund or full repair for over $1000 more. For the other car, first I pay over $500 for diagnostic and replacing parts that "show wear, and will probably fix the problem." When the problem remains, they say another repair under $500 should do the trick, probably. When I get tiered of "probably " diagnostics, the dealer shop tells me that the same repair might fix the problem, but usually when they see these symptoms new cylinders are also needed. Dealer's conclusion: vehicle is not worth the cost of repairs. My conclusion: Precision is not so precise at diagnostics. read more
