Amazing customer service! I came here for an alignment recommended by another shop. The owner Dirk was courteous and gave me an accurate estimate for services and was very respectful of my time. They also recommended other services they found while doing a full inspection of the vehicle. I opted not to do the other services that day-No pressure no OMG if you dont fix it today the wheels are gonna fall off. They were honest and realistic with me.... I came to Poway's Accurate Automotive after a friend recommended them. I was told that I needed to replace my entire ac system by another shop and could not afford the repair. Brian and the crew here looked at my truck and diagnosed a small hose that was leaking. They replaced the $20 part and re-charged my system and it has never worked so well. They saved me a ton of money and had my truck done in an afternoon. I went to get my car aligned last week; Brandon had a complete inspection done on my car which was free. They offer free lyft home as well. It turned out that I did not need an alignment. So it was totally free of charge. Fortunately they discovered that my radiator hose was leaking and on the brink of snapping right off . He advised me not to drive the car until it was fixed. They also found that my transmission fluid was almost black. I did not get the repairs done with them, because a we have a good family friend who did the work at cost. The radiator hose snapped off in his hand. I am so thankful they were honest and discovered a very serious problem with my car. read more

Althiugh we had to wait a bit to get anyone's attention, our time at Poway's Accurate Automotive was completely worth it. My boyfriend brought his car in because he felt that his alignment was off since his steering wheel would vibrate severely at high speeds. After a few quick questions, Brian immediately told us that his tires most likely needed a balance, rather than an alignment. We got an alignment anyway, since the car did need some adjustments, but booked immediately another appointment elsewhere to get the balancing done (they don't do balancing at Accurate Automative). Made an appointment for a smog check and oil change on a Monday morning. It was in a location convenient for me. The staff was very polite, friendly, and helpful. The waiting room couches were comfortable. My car was ready in about 45 minutes. There was no pressure to up sell or pay for any other services. In fact, another customer brought their car in for tire rotation and balancing. The customer had purchased a used car that came with tires from Costco. The mechanic suggested he could have the service done at Costco for free, but the customer had already checked with Costco and was told the free service only applied to to the original purchaser. I was impressed by the mechanic's suggestion since he was providing information that would've meant less business for him. Brian walked me through the process of completing my car registration to make sure I knew what to do, since the smog check results are submitted electronically. I used a couple coupons for the service, about $63 out the door (oil change ~ $20, smog ~ $43 including the certificate fee). I am very pleased and will come back again. read more

The burly guy behind the desk took down my info and key, and told me it will take about 20 minutes. I started to read a book. Less than 10 minutes, Boom! Done. Impressive turnaround time. They quoted me a price on the phone. That's what they charged. As a business owner, I appreciate a no-nonsense, competent service. No fluff. Just get-the- work-done type experience. I recently moved into the area in used Yelp to locate repair shops for my work van. I liked what I read, so I called them up and the owner, Dirk answered the phone. I told him I use my van for a living and needed it back as soon as possible. He instructed me to bring it in as soon as possible and they would get it back to me right away. It's always hard to find a trustworthy repair shop, but after reading reviews I thought to give this place a try. My first contact was with Brian (he's no longer here) who came across very genuine and direct. He would always advise me what was needed for my cars, but then would also advise how time sensitive those needs were. They LOVE whenever me and my family come in because they know they can charge us 2k+ every time. I took my car in during the summer, that was 2k... didn't really even fix the problem because if that was the case I wouldn't have to be taking it in less then 6 months later and now they are telling us its going to be 6k for a whole new engine. I can literally buy another car with that money and still have some left over. I never wanted to go take my car in this time but my parents were too impatient and did it anyways. I have more honest and reliable sources that are telling me it would be a fraction of what Precision is telling us to replace my engine. I wish my parents didn't take my car in, even when I told them that they overcharge up the asshole and back. The parts they charged are triple if not more of what you can buy yourself. charged $100 to just drive my car around and didn't really find the problem I was talking about. Never. Again. This is one of the few auto shops that will tell you what work you DO NOT need to do on your car. I went in for what I thought would be a brake job, but sweet Dirk said my brakes had 25% left on them Turns out the squeaky noise was cold weather related. Also, being a female, I'm accustomed to mechanics / auto guys trying to oversell me for car work, but I know enough about my cars - I read the manuals & GTS if the books don't have enough detail - to know when they are BSing so I can call them out on it. I took my car here for a smog check. I called for an appointment and they were ready for me at the appointed time. I ambled over from the waiting area to the inspection area and the mechanics were not irked by my presence. They chatted amiably with me while going about their tasks. The mechanics were very thorough and did not seem to be handling the car roughly. The inspection was completed in a reasonable time. The manager and mechanics are courteous and friendly. The only reason it's not a 5-star is because I had printed out a coupon from their website, but was still charged a little over the price on the coupon. I was due for a smog check and came across their business advertisement in our local mailer. They had a coupon for a smog check for $21.75 + $8.25 for a certificate. They also had a deal for an oil change for $19.95 and figured since I would be there already, maybe they'll give me both deals. I was able to get an appointment for both services on the same day and was given both deals. They estimated that my car would be ready in 60 - 75 minutes and it was ready in 40 minutes! read more

Smog Check + Repair Review Poway's Precision Automotive and Poway's Accurate Automotive are sister locations with the same owner. I found these locations on Yelp, and both locations have 4+/5 ratings, so I thought it would be a great place to get my smog done. Great deal because for newer cars, $30 OTD for a smog is. Since my car is an older car, smog is $40 OTD. Other places run $50+. Keep in mind both these locations are full repair. If it fails like mine did, repair has to be done on location to qualify for free retest. Wasn't a big deal for me because the repair experience was wonderful. My car failed smog check at Precision Auto. Brought the car into Accurate Automotive for diagnosis and they determined it was a cracked manifold and clogged EGR passages. The office manager at Precision Auto (Jay) was very understanding of my situation and gave me a fair price for the repair. Appreciate both Jay and Dirk (the owner) working with me on getting this issue resolved in a professional manner. Word of advice: this location gets very busy, especially on a holiday when I went in to get the smog work done. Call ahead and schedule an appointment. You will be glad you did. read more

The manager offered to put in the catalytic convertor for no charge when he learned how unhappy I was with the results of my smog test. And they took me out side and showed me how the thing was improperly installed, and why they said it was tampered with. They also figured out why my monitors were blanking out and my check engine light was coming on. It all worked out in the end, and we learned a valuable lesson about letting your battery get too close the engine mount. read more

Walked to lunch, came back an hour and twenty min later, and they hadn't brought the car into the bay yet. My impression was that they forgot about my car and rushed it in, so I lost another hour.
