I am a General Contractor that specializes in high-end kitchen and bath remodels. Over the years I have used Precision Cabinets extensively for all of cabinets, vanities and built-ins. While they might not be the cheapest provider of cabinets I always say be careful what you pay for. Their process from the beginning of the sales to the final installation is always a professional and pain free experience and when something does go awry they are quick to step up to the plate and fix it. This was very apparent with my last order with them. I had ordered some very custom bathroom vanities that had a clear maple finish on them. When the cabinets arrived there was an unexpected problem with the finish. After talking to my sales rep and several key people in the production process we all agreed that they cabinets needed to be completely rebuilt (at their cost). This is a perfect example of a company that stands behind their product and accepts when something isn't right. Well Done Precision!!! read more

This review only speaks to customer service with our initial consultation and estimate. Ed B. is a first class act. He really took the time to share all his knowledge (he has decades of it) and answer over a hundred questions we had for a full scale home remodel. He was super kind, responsive, and transparent. The showroom, I must say, is really helpful for a visual person like me. In the end, the company didn't end up being the right fit for our budget against another option-- prices are surely premium. In search of custom cabinetry with halfway-decent customer service? Look elsewhere. Our experience with Precision was great until something went wrong. Due to an in-house "miscommunication" at Precision, we ended-up with a cabinet that did not match the dimensions we were promised by our salesman. The dimensions were emphasized repeatedly to our salesman by my contractor. Upon delivery of the cabinets and prior to install, the incorrect dimensions were noted and brought to the attention of the installers, install supervisor, and salesman. Precision at no point asked me, the customer, how they could resolve this issue in a manner that was satisfactory to me. Rather, they told me this was the cabinet that was built, that I was stuck with it, and that they would "make it work". At no point was I offered the cabinet I was promised. Despite the objection of my contractor and against my better judgement, I went ahead and allowed Precision to install the cabinet "their way". In my opinion, the opinion of my contractor, and the opinion of another contractor, this portion of the install appeared sub-par and ultimately left me unsatisfied. I met with a sales director at Precision regarding my dissatisfaction and again was given the same resistance and lack of interest in resolving this matter in a way that was satisfactory to me. At no point did I request compensation or anything that I hadn't already paid for. Precision refused to be held accountable for what happened in regards to the incorrect cabinet dimensions. Be weary of any cabinet company that requires payment in-full prior to delivery and installation (as Precision does). I have a garage and multiple bedrooms in need of new cabinets. However, I will not be returning to Precision. After my experience with them, I would not recommend using them for your cabinet needs. When you pay a company up-front in cash the cost of a new car for some cabinets, you had better get whatever you want and what you were promised. read more

Cannot recommend. The finished product is good quality , but getting there was painful and expensive. Had cabinetry custom made for five rooms, and a very large % of the first run had to be completely rebuilt. Precision did so begrudgingly, but they weren't happy about it and had to be pushed/threatened. Delayed my project by a few weeks, which cost me on the general contractor. They never apologized and treated me like it was all my fault. Still can't figure out how they got so much so wrong when they did all the measuring and drew up the plans. On my own personal scale, the worst customer experience I've had, ever. So you might ask "what about the cabinet quality"? Middle grade and for the price, it didn't live up to expectations. The management went as far as to physically threaten my contractor.... They made multiple mistakes, which they didn't take responsibility and once we acquiesced and paid them more money to have their mistakes fixed, is was another month before they would correct the problem. The simple truth is you have options so take my warning and find another provider. I hope this message reaches you, as I wish I knew this before I made a $25,000 investment. read more

Disappointed to say the very least! I didn't expect the quote to be $50,000. Alas, I paid escrow immediately. The cutoff date was due! Precision Cabinets needed 60 days. Okay, maybe that's reasonable for high-quality cabinets. Sixty days is now 90 days or more! So, I'm paying twice what I was budgeting and need to wait 30 days or more than committed to when I agreed to by my new home! If your builder is using Precision, ask for an alternative or expect delays. read more

Based on our experience this company would be more appropriately named "Imprecise Cabinets" We hired Precision Cabinets for our kitchen remodel we were doing at the end of 2015. We did have a good experience initially. The designer we worked with understood our needs and provided a few additional tweaks to our existing design which were helpful. Also once we placed our order the cabinets were built and delivered right on time. That is where the positive experience ended. Once we had he cabinets delivered and installed by Precision we have had the following issues: 1. Even though we sent them the correct specs for all our appliances they built one key cabinet that was to hold a 30" oven to fit a only a 27" oven. Since we had already purchased the 30" oven quite some time ago we could not return it. This led to a prolonged negotiation with Precision about who was going to foot the bill for the new oven and the cost difference between the 30 and 27 inch ovens. In the end because of their mistake it set our remodel back nearly 2 months and also the smaller 27 inch oven we had to install has a handle that does not match the rest of out appliances. 2. We have a large island in our kitchen with cabinets making up the base. When Precision installed the cabinets they did not install them in a straight line so cabinets near the end of the island are flush with the countertop above while cabinets more towards the middle of the island are recessed under the countertop nearly a half inch. 3. Our island has a table extending from it. In their design the table is supposed to align with bottom of some drawers in the island and result in the table being at 30" height. Somehow the bottom of the drawers ended up being more than a full inch lower than 30" so the table had to be lowered by the amount of their mistake. Beyond these problems with measurements and installation the finish on the cabinets does not seem very durable & scratches/nicks easily. Before we did this kitchen remodel we did a bathroom remodel and just ordered semi custom cabinets that were more affordable. The finish on these cabinets has proven to be much better and more durable than that on the Precision cabinets. read more

Worse customer service! I worked with Nick through our contractor, and the cabinets are great. Poor customer service on the final touch ups. I also ordered floating shelves and they have not followed up on the order- it's been weeks! I've spent good money on a new kitchen and can get it finished by these guys- what good are the cabinets. And clearly they don't care since they do not respond to any Yelp reviews- good or bad. read more

Precision makes quality cabinets. They're busy because some home builders including Toll Brothers use their service. So imagine that -- making cabinets for hundreds of new homes. I'd give the quality of the cabinets 4.5 stars. Service, on the other hand, is exactly what you'd expect when a business can barely keep up with orders. After my emails getting ignored, I called a few times just to find someone who could give me information & quote. Then, multiple calls again to get a hold of the Accounting person (in order to pre-pay for the service), and finally multiple calls to schedule an appointment. Our cabinet was built by them, through the home builder, so we chose to use their service again when we needed to make a small modification. If you're willing to put up with their customer "service" but looking for great product & craftmanship, then this might be a place for you. But they need to improve their customer service. read more

We are in process of doing extensive remodel (Kitchen-Baths-Laundry-Closets-Den) of our circa 1902 Berkeley bungalow and Steve G. with Precision Cabinetry has been extremely helpful with design and layout issues. He had great ideas for lowering costs and improving functionality. After comparing to several others Precision's cost was best for a product that looks to be higher than other custom alternatives. Ed Bertlow, our cabinet sales rep / designer at Precision, was a joy to work with and went above and beyond to ensure a successful design and installation for my clients' Kitchen (even to the point of customizing our cabinet pulls on his time!). His experience and knowledge are obvious and his patience and readiness to assist us through any potential issues made the whole process straightforward and efficient. The showroom is well laid out and clients can see examples of many finish and hardware options in situ. The cabinets look great...but I was very disappointed with customer service. One, it took several days for someone to return a call and get an appointment for YOU to visit THEM. I finally took the drive to the sticks (aka Brentwood) and took my chances. Met with a nice guy Tim who was helpful. Things went quickly from there as I came prepared with my kitchen measurements and layout. The disappointment came after installation, which again, looks great. I emailed Tim to ask if I could get pull-out shelves in the pantry and a few cabinets. I was told it could be done but was more expensive "after the fact". Ummm, why was I never offered this before???? I said it was fine since I really wanted them and was told customer service would contact me. Two weeks later...a follow-up email to Tim regarding the same thing....I was told customer service was notified and they would contact me. Bottom line, I guess their sales people don't actually try to sell you anything extra so be prepared to know what you want when you go in and ask for it before installation! Thank goodness for The Container Store as I plan to go there this week and install my own pull-outs. Apparently Precision is doing well enough to not need another sale. read more

Precision uses beautiful materials and installs them well. The finish is excellent, and so is the fit. There are many styles and woods and finishes to choose from. Visiting their plant is actually very entertaining, as they take you on a tour of the production facilities. A few problems (which they are very good about fixing): They don't cut the holes for appliances to the right size; these have to be adjusted later. They don't necesarily use the right color putty to fill nail holes; this has to be fixed later. Hinges for the glass cabinets were much too big and had to be replaced. read more

Just had new kitchen cabinets put in in mid-December. They look great and everything went very smoothly, on time, and on budget. Their pricing was reasonable and in line with other American made mfrs. but I was most impressed with Steve Galligan who was very good at making some great suggestions. Good value for what you get! I was probably more inquisitive than he was used to , but he was very patient and really walked me through what I needed to feel comfortable with. Had a couple of minor issues and they came out and fixed them with no problem. The cabinets look great, fit perfectly, and are working great. Full extension soft close drawers, soft close doors as well. Turnaround time was about 6 weeks and installation was very efficient. They brought 3 guys out for the install and they worked about 9 hours and got it done the same day. Follow up was always prompt. I even did a tour of their production area ... very impressive indeed! read more

Run don't walk....major dissappointment. I'm an experienced kitchen designer with 20 years of experience and made a huge mistake by choosing Precision for my clients project. Their designer Amanda would never return calls...follow the details of my specifications which caused so many problems. They are so over priced and then nickel and dime you. It took four months to complete the install because of all the mistakes. in many ways the are modular cabinets....the make everything 1/4 shorter at the ends and put a large scribe. PC&T is always our first choice for their quality product and service. I live and work in San Jose and we still have yet to find a company that can match their services. The sales people are dedicated to offering a personal experience. There have been many occasions in which we have strange requests or unique designs to fulfill and Precision has always met my expectations and in many instances exceeded them. It is nice to have confidence in a team that prides themselves on attention to detail from beginning of design to installation. They have been remodeling their showroom recently and I am excited to send our clients out to look at the many options and little features that are not always offered but competing companies. I love their custom color line and that they offer such a large variety in wood type, finishes, doors styles, and all the customizable details that really make the cabinets, not only beautiful, but functional in a way that fits each individual clients need. I have called at least 10 times and many email messages for them to come fix an installation problem that is holding up my remodeling project for many weeks. Sharing an excellent experience from design through installation for a kitchen and master bath remodel. We selected Precision Cabinets based on the recommendation of our Architect (K. Price Design) who suggested Precision based on high quality at a fair price. I have read the other reviews and understand that some people have had difficulty getting follow-up calls or issues quickly resolved. If you are researching cabinet makers you should understand that Precision's business model is as a high volume cabinet maker. If you want someone to hold your hand throughout a project with many changes or a lot of non-standard details then find a small cabinet shop and be ready to pay the corresponding high price. If you want high quality cabinets but at a fair price and know what you want, then consider Precision. Sean Young was the project lead for Precision providing detailed shop drawings for our review and approval, worked with us creatively to reduce production time to fit our schedule,and sent an excellent installation team who took great pride in their work. Using Precision helped me complete the project as owner/builder saving a significant amount of GC overhead and meeting our budget. Sean in sales, Gaby in engineering, Vic and JP in site work/install and Michelle in customer service were all excellent to work with. I cannot write a strong enough review about this company. I would highly caution not doing business with them. I've been a General Contractor for 25 years and this was my own home where this experience took place. We built a sizable home in 2016 and Precision Cabinets provided cabinets for a kitchen, five bathrooms, a bonus room and theatre. Things started out quite well when we were dealing with our designer/slaesperson, Ed Bertlow. He was great in working out the fine details and was extremely responsive, respectful and proactive. The cabinets were installed and things rapidly deteriorated. On the first day of installation two Precision employees were sitting near me on break as I was in conversation with another sub-contractor and, in Spanish, called me a bitch. I had never spoken a word to these guys and was beyond shocked. I called Precision and asked that they not come back onto my property. Soon it was obvious that the quality, detail and staining on some of the pieces was poor and needed repair. Without going into detail as there were a number of pieces that needed help, I was turned over to Mario Gutierrez. He is a nightmare to deal with. His standard motto is that NOTHING is their issue or problem. I had to continually involve Ed Bertlow to help get the pieces finished properly. The final straw, and the reason I am writing this review today is, again, an issue that is so glaringly a finish issue that Mario has deemed "owner issue" with the contention that we left blue painters tape in the area. Even after sending pictures showing stain drips down an entire strip of wood - he contends it's painters tape. To add insult to injury I guess he forgot I speak Spanish. I could hear him with his technical on the phone laughing about the situation and telling him it's my problem. I realize Yelp can simply be used as a forum to vent, and situations can certainly be influenced by perspective, but I am telling you this company does not stand behind its product. Their staff (seriously, sans Ed Bertlow) is rude, complacent, unprofessional and completely undeserving of earning business with such unacceptable business practices. read more

This place makes nice cabinets but has the worst customer service. The contract process was near impossible to complete and required multiple revisions with long gaps of silence and time passing for each change to the drawings. Phone calls and emails go completely unreturned. I selected my cabinets in July 2017 and wasn't able to get the measurements, drawings, and contract from precision until January 2018! Tim has been incompetent and unresponsive from the beginning. When my cabinets were finally delivered, several of them were done incorrectly. I'm still waiting today for the replace the cabinet and Tim again is unresponsive. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

I'm a Precision customer who recently had cabinets made and installed by Precision for a new home- including kitchen, bathrooms, office and rec room. I worked with Steve G. (sales) who was exceptionally patient through many revisions and finalized the shop drawings with him around the busy Christmas holidays. He gave us a very ambitious completion date of two months. Precision hit the date and contacted us to deliver and install on Feb 26. Our contractor had rarely worked with a cabinet maker that met their date commitments. The cabinets were very expertly installed in less than two days by Precision's installation team (included in the pricing). I was on and off the site during that time and they worked efficiently and quickly to install and tune up everything as well as answer questions I had. Every part was there and the cabinets fit together like a perfect puzzle. Everyone on the team was very professional. That should have been the ending of a great story, but even after an extensive design process, I felt that the island was too large for the room and asked Steve if he could find a way to resize it. The Technical customer service team quickly generated revised shop drawings and a quote that seemed more than fair given the amount of work and the need to fabricate new parts. Fortunately, Cesar and Julian came back to do the rebuild of the island. Again it was done quickly, precisely and professionally with a great customer - service attitude. Precision should be proud of their craftsman. Cesar is clearly a master and seemed to help the entire team plan, sequence and execute the work. Finally, Michele returned phone calls and messages quickly and provided all the information needed to move the job forward. Re-work of any kind is difficult, but she helped find a way to do it. She conducted the business in such a friendly and encouraging way, it helped a lot to deal with what can be a stressful phase of construction. We are so pleased with our cabinets and their installation. Tammy was great in guiding us through all the decisions and stay within our budget. Precision's whole process was organized and they kept to their original schedule which made the schedule for everything else (counters, flooring, etc) so easy to manage. The cabinets are beautiful-we are so pleased with their quality. The installation team was super-very conscientious and polite. They also will come back to make an additional adjustment as he said the weather can put the drawers and doors slightly out of whack. They protected the cabinetry for the flooring install. Although it was a bit of drive to Brentwood to pick everything out, I am so glad we did! read more

Pretty average cabinets, but absolutely the worst service experience I've had from any company in a long long time - including Comcast - and that's pretty bad when you're rated below the cable company. When it comes to getting the sale they are on it - responsive, nice drawings, etc. But once they get your money, of which they ask to be 100% paid on delivery, they pretty much disappear - and our job was $100k+ so you'd think we'd get some attention. After the initial install there were several problems to correct, as expected with a job this size, so no big deal. But try getting them to come back - that is if they return your call at all. Finally, about a month after the initial install they come out to correct the problems (missing doors, scratches, bad stain in some places). Things were still not correct and they promised seven days (company policy lol) and guess what - coming up on four weeks and still not returning calls. In summary, two months after the install things still aren't right and they don't really appear to care at all. Unless you're a fairly large size builder I'd avoid them, and also avoid having them to nice closets - they really have no idea how things work in a close - I've got some funny stories there as well. read more

The bid that finally arrived had NOTHING to do with what I had requested (to an almost insulting degree) and was clearly an attempt to just send something, anything. We purchased cabinets for 3 bathrooms and a full kitchen from them-- so far they were only able to get one of the bathrooms to be exactly what I wanted (and even that one needed numerous revisions in the design phase). I didn't check yelp before using this company--- that was the first mistake! Do not use this company!!! They say they can do what your asking for, but the final product isn't what was agreed to. The price will keep going up because they keep finding ways to add on.... stay away from this company!!! read more

We had a terrible experience with this company. 1) They took 10 weeks to get our cabinets done, 2) they did them wrong -- their design department unilaterally changed every single dimension in our architect's drawings. They did take the cabinets back to the shop to fix them at no additional cost to us but the amount of delay and stress was too much, 3) their PR was terrible. Tim Serrano who is one of their main guys is a very poor communicator and has a chip on his shoulder. The quality of their cabinets is good but the process with them was a nightmare. I would have preferred to pay more in exchange for better experience. If you go with this company you need to be on top of them at every step of the way. read more

Went in for a consultation and to get a quote on a sizable project (75k+) and was told "no problem" over and over but when the final quote came through there were not only add-ons never requested, but ridiculous inflated costs that increased the total by over 50%. If your project is big enough they'll appear very accommodating but in the end expect a big increase in cost. read more

Their outstanding salesperson, Sean, helped us through the design phase, making changes as they came up and always keeping costs in mind. Their cabinets were outstanding in terms of construction and finish quality and their product offerings have everything we need for our clients. Their installation crew was outstanding and our clients were blown away by the beauty of the finished project. We intend to use Precision Cabinets frequently in the future due their tremendous staff, willingness to work through issues with us, and the quality of their products.
