We came here to get some inspiration for a kitchen remodel. The woman who greeted us showed us where to look at some samples. As she was explaining the different cabinets to us, she made an incredibly rude comment about staying away from the last set of doors since they were the most expensive brand they offer and not for everybody. "They're not cost effective since everyone has their budget". She knew nothing about us or any idea of our budget to imply we couldn't afford her cabinets. After a frustrating go with another cabinet company, Brad McCarthy swooped in and saved us. He took the time to come out to our house, and measure, as our previous measurements were off - he also personally oversaw our order and made sure everything was right. We had been through quite a bit of previous construction related issues, and Brad was willing to go the extra mile to make sure that our process was stress free and successful. Brad answered our multitude of questions, and showed us as many samples, and work-ups as we needed. The plans were phenomenal - crystal clear, and really allowed us to envision what we were getting. He was also very respectful of our budget and did not push us to go over budget at all. He kept us up-to-date regularly and was upfront about what the timeline was in light of all the supply chain issues at the time. We ended up with GORGEOUS cabinets in our fabulous kitchen. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We visited this store twice and the employee who I believe is the owner was short with us both times. On our second visit, he put me and my family to the back of the line and took someone who walked in after us before us. He was so useless he referred to Home Depot. We were expecting to spend at least $1,000 on kitchen knobs and he sends us there!!?? If your looking for kitchen knobs DO NOT come here he's useless they get inventory from Top Knobs just go online and buy them. Useless trip!!! I found the pulls I wanted, I could have ordered online, but it was great getting help selecting the right finish and sizes from somebody who knows how to look at the drawings and get the right hardware. After several false starts with other custom cabinet companies, our realtor recommended we see Brad McCarthy at The Cabinet Center in San Ramon. Brad came to our home to discuss our needs and goals, took measurements, and had a plan a few days later. Our townhouse kitchen is very small, and the existing layout wouldn't allow two people to function in the space at the same time. We had to maintain the same footprint, but Brad designed a plan to maximize the space while increasing our storage and giving us a workable area we both can enjoy. All the quality materials arrived on time and installation went according to plan. I had beautiful cabinets designed for my small kitchen 14 years ago and never got a chance to get installed till now. The center I worked with had closed so I contacted the San Ramon center.Explained I was having trouble with the design and the cabinets weren't fitting. I would not recommend this place. SEE BELOW FOR MY RECOMMENDATIONS TO OTHER CABINET STORES! I spent a lot of time with Joe at the showroom and I was leaning toward this store. When I contacted him a month later to see where we were, we got into a disagreement as to the progress of my cabinets. He told me several times he was busy and did not want to proceed and waste his time if I was not interested. I can agree that there may have been some misunderstanding but he was rude to me and very argumentative when I told him I was interested and wanted to move forward. He hung up on me. When I called back the receptionist kept interrupting and wouldn't let me get a word in. I asked for the owner to call but he never did. The cabinet store won't send you a drawing of what the kitchen will look like before you pay them a deposit. They told me they were afraid that I would take their design to another company, which is ridiculous because every other company sent me their design. It really is laughable that they think other companies could even use their designs as everyone has their own programs and I am the one who told all of them what I want and where. So they lost my business because they were afraid of me talking something that I couldn't care less about taking! HERE IS A LIST OF OTHER CABINET STORES that gave me quotes with the designs. My husband and I had one of the worst experiences here this past Saturday. Jackie was helping another couple as we walked in with our contractor/installer. We waited and walked around the store, jackie came up to us asking what we were looking for and what our budget was. Seemed pretty normal at first. She walked away to helped her other customers so we waited patiently. Upon the other customers leaving jackie asked again our budget to which our response was we don't have one, my husband and I are pretty well off in our careers and own quite a bit of real estate. The lady insisted we have a budget and judged on the looks of our clothing stated "we are not Home Depot" my husband and I thought we were possibly misunderstanding so we continued to let her know budget is not of a concern as we again have the funds. Jackie then said it takes her 2-3 hours to get us a quote and she isn't willing to invest the time to do so unless we give her a budget and we need to be willing to put down 50% today and again stated this isn't a Home Depot and if you cannot afford the minimum of 17k in cabinetry for a kitchen we should not waste her time and look elsewhere. My husband and I are not Caucasian we are both Hispanic American, this seemed to be the issue as the woman continued to address us as not having the finances to purchase at her store even so when she did greet another Caucasian couple coming in after us she asked them to let her know once they found what they liked so she can prepare them a quote. My husband then asked what was her persistence on us having a budget was really about as i told jackie exactly the cabinets, colors and handles we wanted and were ready to discuss. To think it would end there, it did not. Unfortunately Jackie couldn't help herself and made it very clear she felt we couldn't afforded anything unless it was lower tier. I'm not sure if Jackie is aware that a good majority of the wealth in the Bay Area is from young adults in tech, pharmaceutical, and real estate industries. I can only hope Jackie next time realizes not to judge by a persons age or race. I will never recommend anyone to Jackie, I cannot say anything about the store in its entirety as I did not work with any other reps but this should be a learning lesson for her. We were looking to purchase for one of our properties and if all went well would have purchased for all the units in the upscale condos we recently purchased. read more

They were awesome from beginning to end. Joe gave us an estimate and advice on picking our design and color and came and measured the kitchen. He drew up a detailed plan and gave us an estimate. It was not cheap but you have to pay for quality. We picked solid cherry front, shaker cabinets. He kept us updated and the cabinets were delivered exactly when they were scheduled to be. A few pieces were damaged in transit. Joe came out and looked at them, talked to the contractors on what exactly was needed and got replacement pieces ordered for us right away. We spent a great deal of time working with Joe to choose the right design and finish. We were so excited to get our bookcases installed. With our installers ready to go, we opened the boxes to see that they were utility room stark white. No "espresso finish" and "antique white" as discussed in conversations and confirmed over email. I immediately called Joe upset, and he said that he and the owner, Brad, would get back to me. $8,000 of cabinetry in boxes piled in my garage and 4 DAYS LATER Brad finally calls!! We felt so let down at this point because we had enjoyed our experience and were excited for this project. Waiting so long to follow up with us was nerve racking. The message was clear. They did not care about our business. Through a phone call, Brad would not admit to the obvious mistake. "You signed the paperwork, sorry! Looks like you change your mind!" To a stark white? I had no idea the code on the documentation meant stark white. I assumed the color code stated was what we discussed and agreed upon in the emails, which stated the quote and confirmation from Joe about the specs. While it was obvious I couldn't have known I was signing to white and the emails confirmed our intent, we were more saddened that there was no apology. We ended up paying a little more to get the cabinets refinished. They do look beautiful, but it is bittersweet. A little customer service and an apology would have made all the difference. read more

I do not yelp much, but I am so frustrated with this place I do not want anyone else to have the same experience I did. I went into this place twice and dealt with 2 different people; both resulted in a terrible experience. The first time I went in I met with Cecilia. She was unavailable to have a detailed meeting when I came in so she asked me to email her the information for my job. I emailed her detailed specs for my job. After 2 days I did not hear from her so I called and left her a couple messages and no return phone calls. Because I had not received any response, I stopped by the showroom again to see if anyone could help me. This time I met with Joe. At first he was very helpful and was able to review all of the for our job requirements and provided me a quotation within 2 days. When I reviewed the quote I was shocked. Like everyone should, I was receiving multiple bids, but the Cabinet Centers quote was more than twice the other 2 quotes I received at $68K. When I brought this to Joe's attention, he belittled me and the other vendors. I have used one of the other vendors in the past and the quality of product he builds versus what he Cabinet Center sells is far superior. I firmly believe the try to take advantage of customers who live in high end neighborhoods by charging ridiculous rates. This place is a rip off. If you really want a good product I can recommend a real custom cabinet maker. If someone tries to charge you 68K for 42 linear feet of cabinets (over $1600 a foot !!!!!) run as fast as you can. read more

We selected the Columbia line. Joe was easy to work with through multiple design changes and offered up many design solutions. Brad, the owner, came out to our house and measured our kitchen remodel. However, upon demo (with $26,000 of cabinets in our garage) I noticed the design Brad did with his 20/20 layout was wrong--it would not fit. We ended up with more cabinets than we needed and, in the middle of construction, were forced to redesign. Brad was very rude when I called him to assist with the mistake. In fact, he lied and accused me of stating I was going to change the structure of my house--which I NEVER was intending to do! I would never do business with this company. I ended up having to pay $3000 more for Brad's mistake and threw away four cabinets that didn't fit. They will show you a beautiful product, but you should know the inside boxes (frames) are compressed particle board. My advice, shop around. For the price, you can get better product with the customer service you deserve. read more

This review is 3 stars because our kitchen remodel in Portola Valley took about 12 months. Brad was responsive to our situation however some of his staff may not have been at times in working to fix our situation. Overall, I would use them again. They are good designing kitchens and providing the boxes for the cabinets. The only thing I would do differently is NOT use Steve Elliott Construction that they recommended. If you are doing anything else (back splash, installing appliances, kitchen lighting, floors in kitchen) find a good contractor. The reason our kitchen took 12 months is not The Cabinet Center's fault but rather that of Steve Elliot Construction. I chose to also use this outfit for the rest of my home remodel because it was convenient. What a BIG mistake! Their work is sub-par and they did not use licensed subs ... not even for electrical. In fact, there were so many suspicious activities with our project dealing with Steve Elliott Construction that a real estate lawyer tells us that we have a very serious case for litigation. Something that we are possibly pursuing. So please proceed with caution and check out Steve Elliott Construction reviews and references. read more

She guided the customers through the cabinet design process, and was careful in making sure that the cabinet fit well with the rest of the tile and flooring, She came out to measure TWICE before putting the final countertop order in, as well as hand delivering trim pieces at 8pm at night! I bought my cabinets through Joe at the Cabinet Center, and he referred me to Steve Elliott construction. The cabinets are beautiful, and Steve was on top of any issues and would resolve them quickly. The prices were on the high side, but they really did a great job. I took away one star because I was not made aware that the frameless cabinets have a laminated edge that is visible when the door is open. I suggest getting box construction which is a lot more expensive, but will alleviate the laminates. Overall, my kitchen is AMAZING now! read more

We recently replaced kitchen, hall and laundry cabinets with The Cabinet Center. We shopped about seven different cabinet makers. We chose Dura Supreme because of reviews and pricing. We chose to work with Brad McCarthy (owner) because pricing was competitive and his exceptional customer service (promptness of replies and on appointments - no problem coming out to the house multiple times) So do your homework regarding cabinets, and if you select a cabinet manufacturer that Brad offers do not hesitate to work with him. His customer service is 5-star. His dedication to his business and reputation is 5-star. Two quick examples, the kitchen contractors installed all of the cabinets. Cabinets were installed on both sides of a butlers door. One row of cabinets was installed approx 3/4" farther from the door so it wasn't symetrical. Brad came out. I was certain I would hear a reason why it couldn't be perfectly symetrical. No. He said if it were his kitchen he'd want it perfect and called the contractors back in to have the entire row moved an inch. The other example was a warranty issue in which there was a slight crack in one cabinet. I thought he may offer a repair because it was so small. No. No questions asked ordered us a new cabinet and had it replaced with no hassles. This showed me that he cared about his quality of work more than cost and that goes miles! read more

Honestly, we are so glad we went with this place since they are fairly easy to work with. Joe Patrick was our kitchen designer and he gave us great options for the cabinets and design. We ended up getting Dura Supreme and we do like them except the quality is not that great. These cabinets are a tad more expensive than custom cabinetry that we got quoted, but at least you get lifetime warranty with these. I took 1 star off bc the initial process was a bit annoying when the payment required for such an expensive purchase was bordering 100%. It is unsettling to shell out over 35k for cabinets and not get them for weeks. So getting that adjusted took some chatting with Joe and they worked with us a bit. I had a large order and there were only minor shipping damage that were barely noticeable. They do take care of these damages which is really expected for higher end cabs. So that part is nice. We would go back to them again in the future and will definitely recommend them to friends and family. Lastly, once everything was paid off and I had all the cabinets, I was still able to get excellent customer service from Joe. Almost every single time I call him, he picks up the phone and answers all my questions. That is truly wonderful and we really appreciate Joe's attentiveness even after we paid for everything. Because sometimes waiting for a response while in the middle of a project can be a frustrating ordeal. So we love Joe and you will too! read more

A month or so I stopped discus styles and colors with one of their designers who was knowable and helpful. I went back in today looking for advice regarding cabinet colors for my project. Brad and his apparent partner were clearly annoyed that was asking for advice on a project they were not managing. Now I get business is business, but I don't get rude condescending comments to someone who may not be a current customer, but could have been a future customer. Sometimes a five minute investment in time and knowledge to a noncustomer can come back as a profitable new customer. She listened to my needs and was empathetic to some of the struggles we were having with design and planning of our kitchen remodel. I bought cabinets for our whole house from Brad McCarthy of The Cabinet Center. First off, Brad always has a smile on his face. He is always in a good mood, such a pleasure to work with. He had great ideas of how to put our kitchen together, which was not easy. I am thrilled with the results. A couple of the cabinets were damaged in shipment. They were replaced immediately. There was a scratch on one, and that was repaired to perfection. No matter what we needed, Brad would personally come over to our house. He responded to my every request very quickly.
