DVC proved to be a perfect choice for us, and Christina was the star of the show. Christina was professional, patient and very skilled at helping us through our whole project. She spent a lot of time with us and brought forth a wealth of design experience and our end result was beyond what we had hoped for. Christina listened carefully to what was important to us, took the time to educate us, make suggestions, and guided us to the right cabinets at the right price. She also was great at paying attention to important details that we would never have thought of. Our cabinets were delivered when promised. Christina showed up at our home on delivery day to make sure everything was there, unloaded properly and undamaged. She referred us to an expert installer who was equally professional, very seasoned, great at communication, and most importantly provided a high-quality installation in a timely fashion. We ordered cabinets from Diablo Valley Cabinetry in May and were told they should arrive the middle of October. No problem since I was doing the remodel myself and needed the time to be ready for them. Having heard nothing by late November though I called to check on their status. They said "they are not that late because they were due the middle of November. Wrong. They were due the middle of October. But I let that put-off slide and continued to wait. Still no call or explanation from the store. Finally, three months late, with still no apology or explanation from the store, the cabinets arrived the middle of January. The truck driver was supposed to notify the store that they were on the way with the delivery, but he failed to do so. No big problem there. As the boxes were carried in my wife checked off the box numbers against the shipping manifest and all of the boxes were there with numbers that matched the manifest. We now had 45 large boxes crammed into an eight-foot-wide small kitchen and stacked on top of each other. A few shipping labels were facing out, but most were understandably hidden behind and under other boxes. But other than being three months late with no explanation, this is where the screw-ups began in earnest. I notified the store that the cabinets were here, and the project manager, Yvette, came by a couple of hours later. We were handed two sets of installation instructions, one set for us and one for the installer. I had no chance to look at the instructions and Yvette didn't compare them to the shipping manifest before leaving even though we all stood amongst the boxes with shipping manifest in one hand and installation instructions in the other. After she left, I opened the instructions. The cabinets were all shown on a schematic with big red numbered boxes identifying each cabinet and its proper placement for installation. Out of 45 boxes NOT ONE NUMBER MATCHED THE SHIPPING MANIFEST. Before installation could even begin, this 78-year-old man was forced to crawl among boxes, finding shipping labels and part numbers to correctly correlate the box numbers to the mislabeled installation instructions. It was a time-consuming and back-breaking job which required several hours to complete. The next day I called the store and asked to speak to the owner to see if he would be willing to compensate in some way since they still had our deposit for counter tops to be ordered when the cabinet installation was complete. I have no major complaint with Yvette or other store staff that we dealt with over the last six months. Delays and mistakes happen. But when I spoke with Frank, the owner/president of Diablo Valley Cabinetry, his attitude was too bad, so sad. He wouldn't even apologize for the delays and major errors in the installation instructions, let alone agree to even modest compensation. At no point did he ever really apologize for the delays and errors that were made in this deal and refused to take any responsibility for the company that he owns and operates. He also told me that he would find out why there was such a long delay and how the installation instructions were so wrong and get back to me with answers. He never did. When I politely suggested we would take our $4,000 countertop deposit and go elsewhere he told me they would keep $610 of it because the material had already been secured. We were forced to stay with them or forfeit the $610. And they still weren't done with their costly and time-consuming errors! I was told to put down 3/4 inch plywood in advance of the countertop company coming out to measure and prepare the template. No problem, that part was my job. So a friend and I, since plywood is heavy and a two-man job, spent half a day buying, transporting, cutting and installing the plywood. Then when ROMARTS MARBLE & GRANITE, a subcontractor of Diablo Valley Cabinetry and a great company to do business with by the way, showed up I was told that our plywood had to be at least one inch thick instead of the 3/4 inch that Diablo Valley Cabinetry mistakenly told me. Back to Home Depot with my friend to buy plywood to transport, cut and install on top of the 3/4 inch. More wasted expense, time and work. A company is only as good as its management. In this case the management refuses to take responsibility for any of the mistakes made by the employees. This post will not surprise Frank because I told him I was going to write it. I waited until now because as I type it the countertop installers are here and putting in the countertops. ROMARTS has done a great job with the countertops and the owner himself spent 1 1/2 hours with my wife and me in laying out not one, but two design options for us to choose from. I would suggest dealing directly with them and bypassing Diablo Valley Cabinetry altogether. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Do NOT use Diablo Valley Cabinetry, our entire experience has been awful from the day the cabinets were delivered to now as we continue to wait for proper replacement parts. The customer service has been as bad as the quality of their products. We chose to purchase cabinets through them because we believed them to sell quality products that we would have for years to come in our new kitchen and we wanted to support small local business. We viewed samples in their showroom and were pleased by the finishes available and craftsmanship. What we have received is anything but quality and pushed our job back for weeks. -The wrong sink base was shipped which prevented countertops from being installed until the correct one arrived almost 3 weeks later. -Almost every upper cabinet door, in linen, had to be replaced due to either uneven paint or paint missing ALL together, as in the case of one of the finishing framing pieces, or had bubbles/pimples or lines on the door. Replacement doors took over 3 weeks to receieve and what was sent had the same issues as the first round of doors. We are now waiting on a 3rd round of doors to be shipped -As installation progressed my contractor pointed out that absolutely NO toe kick shipped with the order, nor did a touch up kit with the corresponding cabinet paint. We were charged and paid for items we didn't receive. -Our contractor then went to install the range hood but could not as the metal piece that sits down on top of the hood did not fit, not even close. How the metal was not properly cut to fit is beyond me. Took 3 weeks to receieve the correct part. There has been a complete lack in sense of urgency for any of this to be rectified. All of these issues were mistakes on their part and we are still dealing with the mess. It took the owner of the company over 4 weeks to reach out about the issue and when he did there was no appology and all he could say was, "I don't have an answer to that question." On top of all this we had to pay the dump fee to get rid of all the unusable cabinet doors. Save your time and money and go to Home Depot or Lowes. read more

A kitchen remodel is a daunting task, and my wife and I never seemed to understand how to begin. Diablo Valley Cabinetry was recommended to us by a friend and we will be forever grateful. From the moment we walked into their beautiful showroom we felt comfortable, largely due to Cristina Maryott, Design Manager. Cristina asked all the right questions, showed us options and steered us to decisions, never pushing. She came to our home multiple times to insure plans were perfect, to check on the contractor's work, and to follow-up when finished to insure there were no loose ends. Our contractor, Dream Big Construction, also exceptional, said it was the only kitchen they have ever done that didn't require something to be reordered. On one of Cristina's last visit, she noticed a tiny scratch, we never saw it, and proactively scheduled an expert to restore. This place is the worst. Save your money and time and go somewhere else. We have been working with them to try and finish the work we paid them for going on 6 months now with no follow up or follow through. The design and quality of cabinets we were sold were sub par at best. We had used ikea in the past and wanted to go with what we were told was a higher quality product and customer service to make sure we got the right kitchen. In stead we have had issues with every elevation and are still battling just to get them to finish with the crappy product paid for. At a min. Don't pay them until they finish. Emily at the front desk was so helpful today. I came in 15/20 mins before closing asking if she had any extra boxes that might fit a framed art painting that I committed on eBay to mailing out today (before USPS across the street closed at 5pm). I had no options at the post office - their priority boxes were all not the right size, and the postal worker said the padded envelopes would not be good enough to protect from breakage. Emily measured the frame and went to check and came back with a box that literally looked like it was made for the painting! Not only that, she offered me tape, bubble wrap, and marked out the upc symbols on the outside of the box. She is a problem solver and one of those rare above-and-beyond helpful people left in this world! If the people that work at a business, especially the front desk, MAKE the business, and are the GATEWAY to the success of the business (hint: they ARE), then this business is one that I can put a raving recommendation behind! Jackie is a gem. we purchased a custom floating vanity and mirror/medicine cabinet over our double sinks. Jackie went above and beyond... she has fantastic ideas and great vision. She reviewed my floor plan, and even gave suggestions about our room layout, tiles and lighting. You can tell she loves what she does. Our vanity was beautiful.... there was a small damage from transportation, and I was impressed by the way Frank Jr. (owner's son) responded. he personally came over, and sent a repair specialist, who repaired it to my satisfaction. From a no appt/walk-in meeting with Lillian to the completion of our project, we had a great experience with Diablo Valley Cabinetry. Great showroom for product examples. We had a kitchen design which Lillian reviewed and suggested a few changes. She offered good input when we were deciding the cabinetry line and was spot on regarding delivery dates. Very responsive in contacting the cabinet maker when they shipped one box of the wrong drawer style. Lillian also referred us to a great contractor. Buyer Beware! This company does NOT stand by their work. We ordered custom cabinets Frank Jr sent his "Designer" to measure. When we got the cabinets the measurements were wrong ...and cabinets didnt fit, couldn't be installed... and if that wasn't enough they were missing pieces! Instead of correcting the mistake they blamed homeowners, that measurements were off??? I'm sorry, isn't that designers job, that they hired? Be aware of a company that wants full payment prior to you receiving your product! It's a shame that we trusted this company and until this day they have made zero effort to fix nor refund money so we can get our kitchen back. Where is their integrity? read more

AMAZING Customer Service 10 years later! Over 10 years ago, Diablo Valley Cabinetry designed a new kitchen for our remodel which we've received COUNTLESS kudos over the years. Well, one of the large drawers that pull out broke. We thought we might have to buy a whole new drawer of course or maybe even a whole new section. We called to see what our options were, and they sent one of their installers out to check it out. Chris saw that the old screws were stripped, and replaced them with larger screws and even reinforced the drawer 'face' with additional screws for added strength. When I asked for the bill, he said "no bill... we just wanted to help you fix it". WHAT?? I gave him $20 for a fancy coffee or two. LOVE them! read more

We recently did a major remodel of our home, and we couldn't be happier with Diablo Valley Cabinetry. Our project involved removing three walls, going down to the sheet rock, and more to create a new kitchen-nook-den great room, a remodeled laundry room and a remodeled bathroom.
