My first exprience with Precision Motorcars did not envolve the mechanics of my Mercedes, but rather frustration of being unable to change old tires for new ones. I purchased a demo 2017 Mercedes with very few miles on it from Dana Motors (same owner, but now called Mercedes of Cincinnati). This year, 2025, it only has 31k miles on the original tires and car, but I am taking a 2k mile trip and because I am familar with the composition of rubber, I consulted Tire Discounters, a regional dealership as to the possibility of these 7 year old tires having a blow-out at 80-85 on an express hwy. Of course, TD is in the business of selling tires, but gone TD for years and trust and value their opinion. TD provided the advise I was expecting, so I purchase 4 new tires. The unexpected news was that the Mercedes had "locks" on the tire lugs and NO key. Apparently, Dana Motors and not supplied the key lock kit when I purchased the car, so next step was to visit the car delership which was a complete waste of time. It took about 2 hours there to determine Dana did not have the key to the locks on my car. The only advice they provided was the name of a local locksmith who could drill-out the locked lugs. I returned to TD to ask for advice. The manage there, told me that was the last thing I should do becase locksmith could damage the car rims. Finally, an independt mecanic who I a have known for yeas suggest I try Precision which has specialize in Mercedes for decades. Problem solved!! Ina who seems to be the manager came up with the proper "key" within several minutes. Consequently, I will be using Precision going forward. read more

I apologize in advance for the length of this. Back in March, I actually had a very similar experience to Renato's, below. I declined writing a review then, assuming that either Tyler (the owner) was having a bad day or that it was some other kind of fluke, given all the positive things I had read and heard about this shop prior (including one experience of my own). Apparently not. In October 2011, Precision Motorcars replaced the lower ball joints on my '84 300TD. They did a fine job, used good parts and the price was fair. Tyler and his staff were courteous, professional and friendly. I was pleased. In March of 2012, a nagging transmission fluid leak necessitated another call to Precision. I had done my research and tracked down the source of the leak (a seal on the side of the transmission, the "B2 piston cover seal", to be exact) and informed Tyler of this when I called to set up an appointment to get the seal replaced. He gave me a quote of approximately $250 to replace the seal, which is about what I expected. I dropped my car off the night before and spoke with Tyler about it personally in the parking lot that evening. The following morning, I received a call from Tyler confirming that the source of the leak was indeed the B2 seal and that they'd get it on the lift and have it repaired by lunchtime. Lunchtime rolled around and sure enough, I received a call from Tyler, which went as follows: "We fixed that transmission fluid leak....um, couple things. While we were in there, the mechanic noticed that your shift selector bushings were worn out so we went ahead and replaced them too. Total for that was $60." I said "Wait. So what's my total up to now?" "$320," he replied. Stunned, I said "Wait. So you already went ahead and did it?" He said "Yeah, we figured we'd save you some labor cost if we went ahead and did it while we already had the transmission lowered." I asked Tyler why I wasn't notified BEFORE they did the work (and before they charged me more money without my authorization) and he said that "most people appreciate us just doing the work while we're in there and saving them money in the long run," and added snidely that "he didn't realize that we were dealing with such a big number here," He then informed me that I could go ahead and pay him the $250 that he initially quoted me and just "pay him the rest later." I explained to him that the money wasn't the issue and that it was the principle of the thing. I was getting angry at this point and ended the conversation. (I wasn't aware of this then, but Ohio law states that "The mechanic must contact you and get your permission to continue the repair work if the cost of the work will exceed the estimate by more than 10%." In my case, that was a mere $25. By going ahead with this repair, Precision Motorcars broke the law. I told him that charging me for work performed without my consent was shady, dishonest and simply bad business. I explained to him that every time I had taken my car to a shop in the past that I was notified by them if anything else needed to be done and I either gave consent to do the work or didn't. I told Tyler that I didn't understand why Precision didn't handle things the same way. I mentioned that I was especially surprised about it considering how highly their shop came recommended to me. He said that part of the misunderstanding came from he and I not having "a long-standing customer/mechanic relationship." He said that the way Precision handles things is that if they see something else that needs attention while they're working on a customer's car, that they just go ahead and do it to "cut down on their customer's future labor expenses" and that their customers are "very appreciative." I told him that I could see how he could twist that logic to make it seem like he was doing people a favor, but that replacing those bushing was not something that absolutely NEEDED to be done and that it was easy work that I would have simply done myself at a later date. (I should inform you that I had previously done a great deal of work on the car myself. I turned this job over to Precision because I didn't want to risk messing up the transmission. I should also inform you that the shift selector bushings themselves only cost about $4.) Tyler said "Well, here's what we'll do. The cost of replacing the shift bushings is on the house, but I think in the future you should find someone else to work on your car." I told him that was something I could definitely agree with and hung up, my mind thoroughly blown. I have taken my 1999 SLK230 to Tyler for Brakes, and retractable top issues. Both times he was professional, knowledgeable, and understanding. As a non trained DIY'er I can usually point to what needs to be fixed but usually cannot fix it myself. Tyler understands this and takes it under advisement when doing his diagnostics, but remember he's the professional here. His rates are great, and his shop also does a lot for the local community. About a month ago I was driving by their shop and noticed a few cars like mine in their lot (I have a 1982 240D), and the building didn't have any Mercedes sign on it, so I thought it might have even been a collector's parking lot. I saved the location on my GPS and returned there a 3 weeks ago to see if I could find the collector person and ask him where I could get my car fixed and tuned. It's 7pm, and the only person there was Paul, one of their mechanics, who was about to leave the shop. He informed me that they fixed cars like mine there, and that I could bring it in to have them look at it, and I would be able to decide whether to fix it there or not. Paul seemed very knowledgeable and honest, and so I dropped my car on their lot on a Wednesday night, and the next day explained to Tyler (owner) over the phone that I felt that my car needed a new starter, a valve adjustment, and possibly new glow plugs, since I was having difficulty cranking it on in cold weather (turning slowly, even though I had a brand new battery) and a lot of smoke was coming out of the pipe when idling, and I would like him to give me an estimate. He said the smoke sounded more like cooling fluid was getting into the burning chamber, but that he would take a look at it on Monday and get back with me. Since I hadn't received any calls from him, I decided to call him at lunch to see how my car was doing, and he told me we would have to start with a new starter, and that was going to cost $658. I immediately told him unfortunately I couldn't afford such a repair, and that I would come pick my car up as soon as I could. I go there on Friday, and he tells me that since I wasn't going to get it fixed there, that I owed $56 dollars (with tax) for half an hour of labor because he found out that the starter had a problem (which I had already told him I knew existed). I inquired whether they found other issues, and he said we would just start with that (of course, they weren't even able to crank the car on to be able to look at other issues). When I asked him if I could negotiate the charge Tyler threw a fit and told me that wasn't the way he did business, and that I would either pay the full amount, or take my key and pay nothing, but he would never want to see either me or my car there again. I offered to at least give him $20, after which he became even more furious and entered the work area to retrieve my key. I waited outside in disbelief of what was taking place, and to my surprise, he comes out and throws the key at me which I caught on my chest, in reflex, yelling at me that he never wants to see me or my car ever again, before shutting the door behind him in anger. I was in a type of shock for a minute, feeling rather subhuman. That was so uncalled for, given that I was extremely polite to him at all times and never raised my voice, threatened or cursed, especially out of respect for his wife and children who were sitting right behind me. If being treated with disrespect wasn't enough, I'm left with my car with a drained battery from their trying to start it in the previous days, and couldn't take it anywhere! About an hour later I was calling tow trucks and Paul came out and tried to help me start the car with a portable jump system, but it didn't work. It was already too cold by then. I wanted to get my car towed from Tyler's lot lot ASAP in order to avoid any sort of damage he could cause to my car if I left it there, but Paul said he didn't believe he would do that, and offered to try to crank it on during the weekend, since it would be warmer, but on Sunday he called me to say it didn't work, so I had my car towed back to my house on Monday morning. In the end, if you can spare $658 on a starter and don't mind giving your money to an unethical businessman like Tyler, who is capable of treating a human being (let alone a customer) like trash, to me such lack of civility raises a flag as to the extent of the perverse nature of his character, and thus to the kinds of things he could do to your car, pocket, and person, if he sees fit. 07/10/2013 EDIT: 1) When I called Precision Motors to discuss my car problem, I asked what would cost to replace the starter, and you kindly refused to give me an estimate, saying you had to see the car first. I did ask what the hourly labor charge was, but you never mentioned I would be charged if you happened to CONFIRM my diagnosis and I decided to get it fixed elsewhere. 2) You said "we then pushed in to the shop". That car weighs so much you couldn't push it out of that angled parking spot if you had 7 strong men. Don't lie. 3) You expect me to dispute a charge over the phone while my car is in your custody? 4) To me, $20 represented my degree of responsibility in that mutually unjust circumstance. 5) I DROVE the car there, and after your 1st class diagnostics process, my car had a completely drained battery, and it had to be TOWED out of your shop, costing me $60. 6) Only 5001 char read more

My experience with Precision Motorcars was very positive. Tyler explained that he would call with an estimate of the maintenance C after they inspected my E350 4Matic. Tyler's estimate of the cost of my service was completely accurate. The car was ready when promised and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the mechanic even adjusted my clock to the correct Eastern Standard Time. My '97 E420 (115,000) dashboard was lit up like a Christmas tree. Coolant, Electronic and Check Engine warnings were all on. I also had a tapping noise when the car was running. Stopped by on a Tuesday to talk to Tyler, brought the car in on Thursday. Got all the information by that afternoon (good and bad). Gave him the OK and he said it would be ready Monday. I showed up Monday afternoon and the vehicle was ready. I'm very happy with the work done. It wasn't cheap, but the 420 is running like a dream again. I'll be back. Tim read more

However, there are times when owning a Mercedes can lead to relieving your wallet of it's thickness (if you will), and you then have only yourself to blame! I recently purchased a 2007 SLK 350 from a dealer in Chicago. When I brought it back to Cincinnati I began my search for a quality repair facility. I asked a lot of questions of a lot of people and many recommended Precision Motorcars and suggested I speak to Tyler. I also read the reviews on line, including the one below, and have to admit I was skeptical. I called Tyler to set up an appointment just to talk and ask questions. He welcomed the opportunity and we set up an appointment. I met with Tyler for @ an hour talking about my car, what service schedule I needed, as well as things I needed to look out for with my particular make, model, and year. He showed me certifications his mechanics maintain and introduced me to his office staff and made me feel good about giving him a shot at my future business. After @ 3 months of owning the car, I had some issues and brought it into Tyler. I could not have been happier with the experience. He suggested different options for the repairs and was very specific about the costs involved with each option. He also suggested I do a B service as long as the car was in. He called me several times to give me a progress report (a part had to be ordered). The service was excellent! When I picked up the car, the bill was exactly the amount we discussed. The bottom line is they are honest, fair, qualified people who are easy to work with. What more do you need from a repair facility? I would highly recommend using Precision Motorcars, and I expect to be a customer for a very long time. read more

3-25-16 I just bought a '01 MB c240. Few to zero problems and then battery died and instruments started going out left and right. It is common for that model, just stinks because it gives a shop plenty of things to say needs fixing, even when they technically might not after a little reprogramming. You read horror stories of Benz owners getting fooled out of thousands so naturally I was worried. However, today I called precision and was satisfied with what I've heard so far. The gentleman took his time to really understand what my problems were before giving any advice, which is nice to be respected and not treated as a child. He clearly explained how the diagnosis process would go and was upfront about how pricing could accumulate. The MB dealership I called said it sounds like a problem with more than $500 in diagnosis alone. But precision seemed to investigate a little more over the phone which put me at ease. They were confident with me that they will find the problem. Unless the man simply had showmanship, he genuinely made me feel comfortable that I was at the right place. Hopefully they are able to figure out my problem without costing me a fortune or doing anything unnecessary. Compared to other scumbags I have called or dealt with in the area, this establishment seems to be reputable. I take my car in on 4/1/16. Other then the long wait to get in I have nothing but good things to say so far. I will post an update or after the visit to see if they helped with my fiasco, or made it worse read more

I'm normally a do-it-yourself kind of car guy. This is the only mechanic that I have ever referred to as "my mechanic." Their customer service is top knotch, they know their customers and customer's cars by name, and are really friendly. There is not another Mercedes shop who has mechanics as knowledgeable as Precision. I keep trying to get them to work on my non-Mercedes cars, but they are specialists, and it shows.
