I had a watch that was several years old, with many pits & scratches in the crystal, & I'd wanted the band buffed & polished. Would you believe that not only did this gem of a woman offer a very reasonable price, she was honest enough to tell me it'd only be worth the cost if the watch had sentimental value to me. When I explained it didn't, she plainly said, "Just buy a new watch." That ALONE will have me coming back to this business. Why? Because it tells me she's honest & doesn't try to sell me something I didn't need. And that, my fellow Yelp'ers, is what you call exemplary customer service. She's gained my trust, & in turn, she'll gain any further business I have for her, not to mention referrals should someone ask if I know a good watch repair place. OH! They took out 5 links, but managed to leave very visible HAMMER MARKS on FOUR links on the watch! While staying at Bartlett's Bunkhouse in San Francisco, I needed a battery replacement for my watch. I checked Yelps for a service near Union Square. Precision Time was very close and I was impressed with the great comments posted about someone named Maria. I strolled up Powell past the cable car turnaround with its usual long queue of humanity, crossed Market St., made a left and quickly found the entrance to 833 Market St. San Francisco is a city of architectural gems and 833 Market St. is a jewel. Be sure to check out the floors in the elevators. You don't see these kinds of detail in new buildings. When I stepped onto the third floor the oldish carpeting was a letdown but there were many other redeeming details to enjoy. Maria had only been open a few minutes and it was just the two of us in the large workshop. She gave me a warm greeting and asked what I needed. As she replaced my watch battery we began chatting about her children and grandchildren; subjects such as technology's effect on culture, you know, the usual. I learned Maria is from Guadalajara, one of my favorite cities. We chatted about the Ballet Folclorico and how great the aqua frescas are at the Plaza de los Mariachis. She wrote down two neighboring towns she thought I might like the next time I found myself in Guadalajara: Tonala and San Pedro Tlaquepaque. I look forward to taking Maria's advice. She charged me $10 for the service and I was off. What a kind and interesting person and what great service! I'm bringing the rest of my dead watches to Precision Time my next visit to San Francisco. The lady was super friendly and replaced the batteries on two of my watches in 10 minutes. One of the watches was a Longines which some places don't handle as they don't want to be responsible for ruining an expensive item. You can trust this place though, she knew what she was doing. All up it cost $17 for the two. $10 for my Longines and $7 for my DKNY watch. Good value. Most places I've been charge more. Found the experience to be most excellent, having the battery of my vintage Omega Seamaster changed within 10 minutes and for only $10. Went in to get battery replaced on two of my watches. I had a Longines and a Raymond Weil and she charges based on the type of battery and not the brand of the watch. So all I paid was $20 cash total for both the watches and walked out within minutes. The lady is very pleasant to talk to as well. She gave me some good advice on taking care of watches as well. Last time I went to Sears to get battery replaced, they charged $20-$25 each and then scratched up the back pretty bad. read more

I recently brought a watch here to be fitted and have the battery replaced. I was literally in and out of there within 10 minutes, and because of the prompt service and low prices, I left very satisfied with a promise to be back the next day with my other newly acquired watch. I showed up the next day with my other watch as promised, and the same lovely lady was there to accommodate. Not only did she service my watch within 10 minutes (again), she showed me how to operate it properly and informed me on how to save battery life (even though its bad for her business). She does only take cash or check, and this particular day I was short about 5 bucks. I asked her where the closest ATM was and she said "oh don't worry about it, give what you have, i know you will be back". Damn right I will be back.
