I've used Precision Tune in Clayton several times for work on my Chevy Tahoe. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the facility is clean. My recent work took a bit long than quoted, but having worked on vehicle most of my life, I know things always take longer than expected. Work was done right though, so I am happy. One thing is am disappointed with though, is they no longer offer a courtesy shuttle service to take people home. Apparently the corporate office decided to discontinue this. In my opinion, this is an essential service that they should reinstate. My previous service center that I used (not much further away) still provides this service, so I may have to consider that on my next repair. Come on Corporate, this is a courtesy you need to offer! If time and money are of any importance to you, I'd avoid this shop. Not only did Josh Weaver take ~$400 from me, he wasted a lot of my time. As a single dad, that's no good.. We went in to get transmission work done as they accepted the warranty provider I had. I had to flush the transmission 3x and then drive the truck for 300mi before bringing it back to do the work. After getting me to pay the ~$400 in order to satisfy the prerequisite for the warranty company, they stopped doing transmission work with them due to not having the appropriate equipment to satisfy a "new need" from the warranty provider... Okay.. I get it. I do (kinda?) What I don't get is the awful customer service behind telling someone that kind of news. His demeanor was very shoulder shrugged and Josh somehow mustered the nerve to tell me; "he didn't choose who I got a warranty through.". That's also fair, but you chose to do business with them. I do believe they just scammed me for a quick $400 dollars but I can't be certain. We regularly get our family's three vehicles serviced and inspected here. After my son's most recent oil change & tire rotation, we started noticing oil spots in the driveway and the oil looked low. We also realized his lug nuts were super tight and in the event of a flat, he might not be able to get them off (and he's a strong kid). We, as adults, struggled to get them loose with the tire iron. My son went back up to the store and called his father to explain to the tech what was going on. The call got a little heated as the tech said there was NO WAY the lug nuts were too tight. After the call, my son apologized and the tech just said, "yeah, whatever." They took his car back to check it out and found that the drain pan washer was cracked (likely from overtightening). They replaced it and refilled the car with oil. They also found that the lug nuts WERE overtightened per the manufacturer's specs. Those were loosened. When my son went to leave, he thanked them for their help and was told "good luck." I asked if it was said in a nice way (and demonstrated) and he said no. He felt it was more of a threat and was a little worried about what they had done to the car. (We did check it. While I can't see into the drain pan to see the washer, it is full of oil and is not leaking.) While I appreciate that they rectified the issues, I was a little taken back by the way they spoke to my son, who is just a teenager. None of the issues were his fault, nor was whatever was said on the phone between his father and the tech. Guess times have changed and you now have businesses arguing with the customer instead of the customer is always right philosophy. I mean why argue because that was the only place we had the car so who else did it. Not like we went under there and tightened them more after it was done. Please beware of this Precision Tune. We will not be taking any of our vehicles back to Precision Tune. Better off taking your vehicles to the dealership or someone you can trust. read more

So, this place is a scam. They had my car for almost 4 days and told me a part was broken, when it wasn't. I had to find/buy rides to and from work, and pay for a diagnostic test that they couldn't even read right. I brought my car here on 2/25/2022 around 8:40 AM, with a check engine light on, VSC light on, and traction light on. They told me it would be checked on later in the day, so I found a ride to work, and knew I would have to find a ride home from work as well. However, I did not expect that my car wouldn't even be looked at on Friday, so no car until Saturday. I waited until 2 PM on Saturday (as I received no call or update form this location), and they told me my leak detection pump was broken. And, they could not fix to it until Monday, and it would be over $1000 with the diagnostic test, part, and hours. I knew at that point I did not want them to fix the car, so I picked it up on Monday and took it over to another great mechanic, who ran a diagnostic text and looked at the leak detection pump, and said the only thing I needed was a marker light fixed. No detection pump was broken! read more

Slow...8:30 appointment, arrived on time and waited until 9:10 for them to start working on my car. I just needed an oil change, tires rotated, and state inspection. It took almost two hours from my appointment time before I left. They are friendly and the waiting area is clean and comfortable which is good since they are so slow. read more

The other week I called to get some diagnostics run on my car (as well as an inspection) and was told to bring my car in on Monday morning. When I get there I found out that the inspection person wasn't there and ended up getting my oil changed. I was told to come back on Wednesday so that they could run some diagnostics and potentially run the inspection if they were able to fix my car. The team told me that they would NOT do an inspection until we fixed what was wrong with my car, but hours later I call them to check-in and was told that they ran the inspection and failed me. This is extremely frustrating considering I was specifically told that I wouldn't have an inspection run. All I wanted was to see if my car is good to go for a cross-country road trip and I still haven't been able to fix what is wrong with it. I think that to go to a car shop two days in one week and for specific issues to still not be fixed is a little ridiculous. I feel like my time and money have been wasted and I will not be coming back. read more

Much better than the dealer! I went in with a list of things that the dealer said needed to be done. It had been six months since I'd been to the dealer and it ended up that both the front and back shocks/struts needed to be replaced now as well as the front brakes but it came in at prices less than what the dealer would have charged. But one thing that the dealer said needed to be done that would cost $2600, the technician checked out and said wasn't what really needed to be done. He said that the "whole assembly" didn't need to be replaced, that it was just one little part and that it would probably be less than $300 so I'm taking it back in next week to have that done. Yea! I've been here previously for oil changes, they have much better prices for synthetic oil changes for Priuses than Jiffy Lube. One downside of this location is that if you go during the warmer months, they don't really have any shades on the windows and the windows face west so it gets *really* hot in the store. They *really* need to get some shades in there or at least some good tint on the windows to cool things down. read more

Went in for wheel alignment, the tech broke my rear toe alignment bolt. Store manager refused to fix it, offered to install new rear control arms for $500, or replace the bolt for $200. Essentially trying to make profit off of fixing something they broke themselves. I will be replacing the $15 bolt myself and going somewhere else for the alignment. read more

Just really poor customer service. Was told my oil change would be the last one before the staff took a lunch break which was great because by 12:30 I would have already waited over two hours. So at 12 the technician grabbed my car, changed the oil, and then parked my car at almost exactly 12:30. Thrilled to be minutes away from checking out I waited patiently for the manager return to the office to run my card and hand me my keys. About 15 minutes go by before I realize the garage is empty as everyone has already left for lunch leaving me to wait another hour for them to return to be checked out. Fortunately there was one employee that was there that I had to track down that checked me out. I've used this Precision Tune location since 2009 but never again. I understand these men need a lunch break but you do not leave a customer hanging out to dry to be checked out until you return from a lunch break. Completely unacceptable and rude. I actually drive out of my way to go to this specific location out of some blind loyalty but obviously they don't care about their customers or their customer's time. read more

I took my car here for an oil change and tire check, they claim to have found nails in 2 tires, said they could repair one but would have to replace the other tire so I bought a tire and had to bring the car back the next day because the tire was not in stock there. When I brought my car back they couldn't remember which tires had the nails and needed my help to figure out what THEY had done wrong. I took my car back a few weeks later because I'm still putting air in the tires they say were replaced/repaired and they claim there is another nail in one of my tires but offered to do absolutely nothing to sort out the mess they created and on top of that the desk clerk lied when he told me that my rims wouldn't take crimped weights for balancing when they were clearly on there when I pulled off their lot after they did a job on my car. Found a coupon on their website, $20 for an oil change with included topping of fluids, checking tire pressure, etc.. brought my own oil. None of the fluids we topped off, wiper fluid was empty- had to refill it myself a few days afterward. Called about it and they said because I brought my own oil and saved them the cost from using theirs, that they couldn't apply the "coupon" because it wasn't a "package" which you can clearly see on the receipt that I was charged for the "package" at the "coupon price" that they supposedly "couldn't apply"... and this was the manager. Sometimes you can judge service by how people react when things go wrong. After I had a wide range of needed repairs here I got in my car on a very hot day and the air conditioning wasn't working. I was upset because the repairs were expensive (but legitimately so) and I thought the air conditioning was working fine when I brought the car in. I called and they asked me to come back in if I could. Will, a very experienced mechanic, greeted me as soon as I came back in and assessed the problem within about 15 minutes. He then did some testing, explained what he was seeing and fixed and tested the AC shortly after. It could have been an existing condition that just made itself known or it could have happened in the shop, but they took responsibility and made it right. Praise to Aaron who was at the helm in the manager Mike's absence, for his patience and positive attitude. read more

I've been coming here for oil changes and other little issues since I moved to NC 4 years ago. Being new to the area and skeptical by nature I was pretty nervous when looking for a place to trust with my car. I can assure you these guys are straight shooters and won't try to sell you anything you don't actually need or can really use. I went in today thinking I needed to get my alignment done when I in fact just needed a tire. They test drove it and put it on the lift told me what it was and asked if I wanted a quote for a new tire. I politely declined because I planned on getting a used tire for now until I can afford it and I was given my keys and my receipt and sent on my way. The people inside are super laid back and up front. For an experience many find super stressful it really lightens the blow to know that they just want to look out and do what they can for you as a customer. They could've easily sold me on an alignment for over 100 dollars that I don't have right now but they wouldn't do that and won't work on damaged parts anyway, my case being a damaged tire. In my opinion this precision is very reliable and I'd recommend them for sure and do all the time! read more

This is the worst place ever. They failed my inspection due to the steering mechanism in the car I went back about a month or so later for an oil change and inquired about how much it would be to get the steering mechanism fix they proceeded to tell me that there was absolutely nothing wrong and my car was in great shape. This was not true bc shortly after my wheel became hard to turn. I had also noticed a leak from under my car and inquired about the leak to which they told me it was just water leaking bc it was summer time and not even a week later my car began to over heat. I went to this store today on may 9th,2018 because I had a 20.00 coupon for oil change and tire rotation. I come in and finally figure out that the price will be 47 dollars due to the fact that I need high mileage oil. The coupon was misleading in this way. Regardless of this, I come in and find myself waiting 10, 20, 30, 40 minutes as these SEVEN employees work on the same TWO vehicles. The "receptionist" had left the waiting area so when I tried to get my keys back I actually had to step into the bay and ask for them. If you're going to make your customers wait that long then at LEAST let them know and AT LEAST APOLOGIZE. All the employee said to me was "well your car is next"... okay?! I'm AWARE of that because y'all been working on the same cars for the ENTIRE TIME. I would have even been satisfied with a discount. I left after wasting my day and I won't return to this location. I'll make sure to tell friends and family this as well. I would advise people to go to the Saunders location or colonades way location in cary... they have MUCH better service and nicer buildings. read more

I don't know what to say since I'm not a mechanic but I called to get my brakes fixed and they said it would be one fifty out the door but after I dropped off my truck I got a call saying it would be more like three hundred and I was like NO. Just do what you can for the price that I was quoted originally. He talked about this being worn and that being worn and the word rotors came up/whatevs. I paid seven dollars more than what they had quoted and ran fast. My brakes still make a sound and IDK what the did but I think that they were not upfront and I plan to go to Allen's near downtown b/c they give a quote and stick to it without the Hitchcock terror call. read more

I was told that it would take 1 hours to get my car seen. At 1 1/2 hours, I was told that it would be another 45 min to an hour. I asked to speek to the manager and he did try to make it right by getting the tire looked at and he indicated that he would give me a free oil change card. When I returned to pick up my tire they said the manager was not there so they could not give me the oil change card, and even thought I was there at 3:45 they said they could not mount the tire that day. So I paid for the patched tire and left. There is obviously a communication breakdown between the management and the rest of the staff, but the customers are the ones paying for it. read more

They keep telling me things are wrong charging over 500 dollars on an engine light said it was essential to engine running and one week later light is back on. Went for an oil change they said have to replace oil pan 492.00 , I went somewhere else and they changed the oil for 20.00, my daughter bought tire a new one and had to bring back 3 times as her tire light kept coming on. I get panicked when something goes wrong on car so I just accept what they say as I don't know but will start investigating now. read more

One year ago they "forgot" to torque my wife tires and the front passenger tire came off literally less than .2 miles from the store with our infant child in the car.. had to call Triple A to get car towed back to store for reopen the next day.. the in-store manager proceed to tell us that it was a "new technician" mistake.. How do you forget to put the tires on the car when you are a tire/mechanic shop... Fast forward 1/8/2020 I tried to give them the another opportunity with my truck and they proceeded to call me 30 mins later after my service to notify me that ALL FOUR of my tires had not be torqued.. I'd advise you to not take your vehicle here. as their excuse this time was "new technician" Please please please Stay away because this could be you.. someone need to look into this place level of automatic mechanic standards because im confident to say there will be discrepancy found. read more

I have never in my life posted or much less complained about service.. ever.. until now...a comedy of screw ups and blunders but was not funny. They did an oil change. The next morning I headed out to work, drove maybe half a mile and the oil light came on. Car sounded like it was dying (its a 1 year old Camry in excellent condition). Luckily was in a place I could pull over. I checked the dipstick and it was bone dry. The engine had NO OIL. Had to get a ride to an Autozone to put the oil in myself. I returned to their shop. Turns out they had broken the plug but said nothing. Before they finished with the repair, the tech drove off to his appointment (which was 45 minutes away)...with my key in his pocket!!. The manager called him and supposedly asked the tech to come right back. Another hour and a half later, the tech shows up with my key. (Despite them knowing their error, amazingly the tech chose to go on to his appointment) "Sir we put a new plug in and there is no charge". Gee, Thanks! Finally got to work that day...at 11:00 am. During my long wait, I couldn't help but over-hear what sounded like a pattern of overselling other customers on other services. Watch Out! BTW, their wifi password, is "letmeout". They did not tell me about things they found during their inspection - oil pan leak, weak battery. I found this out after reading the paperwork they left on the seat of the car. Reason being I had to pick the car up after hours. No excuse because I asked them what they found during their inspection while I was there and later on the phone. read more

I am not a mechanic. To replace head light an estimate of $73.99 ( material + labor cost) was given. In the final bill they charged me $5.92 towards shop supplies. I do not know what shop supplies need to replace bulb. If at all some shop supplies were need , customer should be informed. I doubt do they have any repeat customers. read more
