I brought my truck in and asked to have the brakes checked to see if it required replacement. The technician said that the brakes were good but the fluid was bad . All broken down is what I was told. They said it needed to be flushed and serviced with new fluid that's why they were not performing properly. I had them do this and it didn't fix the issue. I was overcharged for the service $175.00 . That I found out when I returned to pick up the truck. The actual problem was a brake system vacuum pump. I had that replaced and the brakes work as expected. While on vacation in Myrtle Beach, our engine died. Our dealer warranty paid for a brand new engine...which Rick and his team MIS-INSTALLED. One month later, Rick and Precision Tune Auto Care Myrtle Beach are refusing to honor their 12-month, 12,000 mile warranty on this job--by refusing to pay to repair the damage that was done to the engine as a result of their mis-installation. 1. Rick will say that we voided the warranty because the mis-installation was diagnosed by the Mini-Cooper dealer in our home town, instead of the local Precision shop. But the local Precision Tune Auto Care told us they don't have the capacity to do the job. Further, we have been in constant contact via phone and text with Rick, just as the warranty requires. At no point did he say we needed to stop working with Mini or we would void the warranty, or tell Us that we needed to take the car somewhere else. And we have the text messages to prove this. 2. The Mini-Cooper manager sent Rick evidence (including pictures) of what Rick did wrong. Rick accused the manager of the dealership of lying, shoddy workmanship, and trying to take advantage of a "small garage" like his. 3. When Rick refused to take responsibility, the Mini dealer went above and beyond to try to resolve this, even offering to pay half the cost for repairing the BRAND NEW ENGINE which Rick mis-installed. (Even though this local Mini dealer has done NOTHING wrong and has no responsibility in this matter!) Still, Rick refused to do the right thing. 4. Maybe most frustrating, NO ONE AT THE DISTRICT OR CORPORATE LEVEL of Precision will return a phone call or email. The only person we have been able to talk to about this is RICK...our calls and emails to Precision corporate are routed directly back to him. Well, he's the guy who messed up this job in the first place. In other words, Precision not only doesn't honor their own warranty, their customer care Is non-existent. My car started acting up on my way down interstate 74. It was bucking and the motor was stuttering. I had it tuned up before I left on my trip, so I didn't have clue what could be wrong. I decided to continue driving another 70 miles,until I arrived at my friend's house in Conway. The next morning, Saturday, we took it to the dealer. They couldn't even look at it until Wednesday. Our friend suggest we try Precision Auto Tune, which was nearby along Hwy 501. We headed over and spoke with the guy on the service desk. He said he would try and get to it that day, but it might be Monday before he could repair it. I didn't have choice, so I left it. About two hours later they called and said the vehicle was fine, a coil wire had popped off a plug, They didn't charge me for diagnosing and plugging the coil back on the plug. After he changed the chemicals in the system, the repair lasted 2 days. (over $300). When I brought the vehicle back, Kelly said"this must be the problem". He then replaced a valve. The AC stopped working as soon as I left the lot. Another $400 plus. He then said it must be the switch . He didn't charge me for it but, again, it didn't work. We were vacationing in Myrtle Beach in early august. Our vehicle started over heating and based on the reviews and our insurance company referred them, we had our car towed to their shop. Per Rick's assessment he was able to contact the dealership that we purchased the vehicle from and speak with them about the issues we were having.(we purchased the vehicle as is) The dealership put us in a rental car to get back home and had the vehicle towed at their expense. Fast forward to today we received a call from said dealership and they let us know that they fixed the vehicle and told us what was going on with it. My husband reached out to Rick and he remembered us, we let him know what the dealership said was wrong with the vehicle and asked for his professional opinion. He took the time to go over everything with us and even gave us questions to ask to make sure that the dealership wasn't just putting a band aide on the issue. A lot of years ago I'd do all this basic repair myself. Years caught up and I can't get around the truck like I used to. But I don't generally trust chain repair places, too many times being sold shoddy work or work that didn't need to be done. I've been coming here for several years and haven't had that problem. They do good work, excellent diagnostics, and have fair prices. They also excel in an area others fail miserably, their time estimates are pretty close on. A lot of places in Myrtle Beach apparently can't time manage and don't mind telling you "an hour" when they mean three or four. I've always made good time here. If you need trustworthy and reliable service then they'll do nicely. If you need rock bottom prices then you'll have to do it yourself and still might spend more. read more

They took care of the replacements quickly for me despite some minor complications. As far as the headlight restoration service, they were very honest and told me that given the condition of my lights, the cost of service was not worth it. I walked into the shop to get my windows checked out as they have stopped working. I waited about 10 minutes for a mechanic to come to the front desk after 2 others walked by without saying anything to me. I finally confronted someone and he said that they would take a look once the other car was done. That car pulled out front and was done within about 3 or 4 minutes. I waited and then another customer came in, she was assisted before me even though she came after me. Then when she left, the space was empty and I waited. Guy at the front told me I needed a new condenser and a kit and would be $1100. Needless to say I wasn't paying that and went to get a second opinion. When I'm visiting Myrtle Beach and need some work done on car, after my experience, this is the only place I will go. Have always been distrusting of auto repair as I don't know much about a car, didn't get that feeling from this place. Thought I had a wheel bearing going bad (had before on the other side) and first place I went for oil change and tire rotation said I didn't have a bearing going bad. Stopped in Precision Tune and they looked at it and couldn't believe the previous place missed it. Unfortunately, my make (Infiniti) does not have a dealership down here so getting parts can take a day or two. He thought a Nissan part would work but for some reason that part costed more, gave me the option. I chose to have the Nissan part used since I had to drive reasonable distance the next day. Unfortunately, while making the repair, a sensor was broken. He owned up to it, told me the problem and said he would make it right. He could have used another Nissan part but this time it would not work, he could have spliced some wires to get it to work but didn't want to do that on my car, he wanted to get the correct part. In the end, came back a few days later for appointment, he got my car in right away and got me out quick with the right part. They could have told me that it was something that was found during the repair and I would not have known at all but he didn't (owner). He took care of the problem the right way, little inconvenience to me but sometimes things happen that way. But said from the beginning that he would take care of it and honored his word. read more

Got a new battery installed by AAA. Now "check engine light" and "cruise" are on and radio has no lights. Called Precision Tune & made appt for 1pm today. Get there today and re-explain everything and the guy tells me there is a $90 Diagnostics charge. Really? Funny how the other guy never mentioned that. Not to mention, I already got a diagnostics test and told the first guy the results!!! Either the first guy 1)didn't listen to a word I said or 2) decided not to tell me about the $90 charge just to get me in there. I could have paid it but, to me, that was dishonest and I will not spend my money at a place like that. This was more of a Jiffy Lube type place and I would never have called them had I known that. Excellent service. Our engine light started blinking and the car was running rough. We had just gotten into town for vacation after a 7 hour drive. I Googled car repair shops to find the closest ones. It was about 4:30 pm so I didn't call any that closed before 5:30. The first three I called and explained our situation to were not helpful at all and said they could not get to us until later in the week. Fourth on my list was Precision on Rodeo Drive. They were extremely helpful and didn't hesitate to tell us to come on right then and they would take care of us. My husband took the car while the kids and I settled in at the hotel. Got my timing belt done in January. It started squealing so I brought it in and Andy the manager said they would change it, no problem.
