Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Inconsistent and Excessive Labor Pricing…read more I am submitting a formal complaint regarding a serious issue with pricing transparency and consistency across Mavis Tires & Brakes locations. On June 18, 2026, while traveling from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a steel belt separated in one of my tires on Interstate 10. The failure caused my Ford F-350 Lariat 6.7L diesel truck to pull sharply and handle poorly, forcing me to exit in Live Oak, Florida. After hours, I left my truck overnight at a Mavis Tires & Brakes location and took an Uber to a nearby hotel. The next day, I replaced all four tires for $2,188.09. I requested an alignment but was told the machine was not calibrated. I also asked to recalibrate the tire pressure system but was informed the device was not charged. During service, the manager advised that my truck needed front brake rotors and pads and quoted $575.00 for parts and labor. With seven hours left in my trip, I declined. After returning to Myrtle Beach, I purchased premium Power Stop rotors and pads. At the Mavis location at: 116 Debo Drive Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 I was told they would not install customer-supplied parts. An employee directed me to another Mavis location. I then contacted: Mavis Tire 2075 US Highway 501 Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 They confirmed they would install my parts and quoted $750.00 for labor only. I immediately challenged this quote as excessive. As I was preparing to leave, the manager reduced the price by $200, from $750 to $550, without any change in scope or explanation. This drastic and immediate reduction is unacceptable and strongly indicates that the original quote was inflated. A labor price dropping by more than 25% within minutes demonstrates a lack of standardized pricing and raises serious concerns about arbitrary or opportunistic pricing practices. Even at $550, the labor-only charge nearly matches another location's quote for both parts and labor combined. These inconsistencies are not minor--they undermine trust and suggest that customers may be subjected to widely varying prices for identical services depending on location or circumstance. For reference, typical labor costs for replacing front brake rotors and pads on a Ford F-350 Lariat 6.7L diesel are: * $150-$225: Very fair * $225-$300: Reasonable for higher-rate facilities * Over $350 labor only: Requires clear and specific justification A quote of $750, later reduced to $550, is not just difficult to justify--it is unreasonable. I expect a formal review of this incident, a clear explanation of how labor pricing is determined and enforced across Mavis locations, and confirmation that corrective measures will be implemented to ensure consistent and transparent pricing. I also expect a written response detailing the outcome of your review and the actions taken to address this issue. I did make a report to the Better Business Bureau. I was contacted by Mavis Customer Service regarding my concerns. While I was calmly explaining the situation, the customer service representative became noticeably impatient and dismissive. Rather than listening to and addressing my concerns, the representative's attitude made it difficult to have a productive conversation and left me feeling that my complaint was not being taken seriously.

My experience with this Jiffy Lube was 5 star. I have never experienced this level of customer…read moreservice at ANY business I've ever visited IN MY ENTIRE 52 YEAR LIFE! Read on an see if you have. Upon arriving, I was greeted AT MY CAR by Traven, the young man who serviced my vehicle. He walked me inside and immediately saw to my needs. Although there were 4 customers in the waiting room, Traven informed me my oil change would only take 15 minutes. I timed it. It took 18 minutes. And only because I added a few things. Although my vehicles computer indicated an oil change was needed, after inspecting my vehicle, Traven informed me my oil was quite clean and he believed I didn't need to change it for another 1000 miles. That level of honesty in a service business is much too rare & more so in Myrtle Beach, were tourists are often fleeced. I decided to have the oil changed anyway. While Traven serviced my vehicle, Bryce stepped in & went over other possible maintenance requirements their inspection indicated. Add on services are expected when having an oil change. I had them add transmission fluid for $3 and replace a windshield wiper blade for $14. All services were completed quickly in full view of the customers waiting room which is separated from the garage area by a large glass wall. When paying, I was informed that I could have all my fluids checked & topped off & my tire pressures tested FOR FREE! for as long as I owned the vehicle. A great way to retain customers. Everything compIete, I was walked to my car and a red carpet was literally unfurled for me to step on as I entered my vehicle. I'm a Myrtle Beach resident since 1998 and local business owner. The personal service had me curious & so I asked some questions: Do they great everyone at their car? Yes. I watched as other arrived. They do. Why do they greet everyone at their car? Because that's what they were trained to do. Are either Traven or Bryce owners or managers? No. Just regular employees happily doing their jobs. I have tried many oil change services in the past. Most were adequate. Most had much longer wait times. Until further notice, Jiffy Lube has my business. I recommend you give them yours.

The good side: Quick service. Courteous techs. The bad: 1)…read more MIsleading advertising stating 50% off oil change. 2) Very expensive. Overpriced upcharges. When I arrived the greeter quoted a total of approx $130.00 for the service. After checking the vehicle the tech mentioned the antifreeze was a couple ounces low, so he topped off the antifreeze with about 6oz of the solution. This brought the bill up to $160.87 (utilizing the $25 discount coupon). Greeter "forgot" to mention, when initially asked about the "all in" price that the taxes are not included and tech didn't mention the $2/oz for the antifreeze.
