I requested service on my new dishwasher because the dishes stayed wet even on 'heat dry'. As it turned out, it was operator error, not a problem with the machine. Aaron, my repairman, taught me several things. He told me that using a rinse agent is not optional with any dishwasher made in the USA today. The rinse agents help the drying process. Also, my dishwasher requires a pre-wash agent. I was woefully behind in technical knowledge. Kudos to Aaron for imparting his kind and helpful knowledge. This was a free warranty visit. read more

We had a scheduled appointment with a time between 8am and 12pm. By 1pm I called and asked what was going on as they never told me anything else. Half an hour later they finally said they were 30 mins away. I called to cancel after checking their reviews and track record. Called another local service that charged less and gave me a specific time. I'd recommend just steering clear of these joke of a company and either search local or just YouTube would be better. We had Preferred Appliance Sales and Repair come to our home to fix our ice maker that went out on our 5 year old, top of the line Kitchen Aid French door refrigerator with 3 tiered freezer drawers with two soft closing drawers. They work on Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Jenn-Air, and Whirlpool as they are owned under the Whirlpool Corporation. Everything was working well with the exception of the ice maker. At the first attempt, they replaced the master control board, and after the following two attempts, they weren't able to fix it, our freezer then went out, we had to throw out several hundreds of dollars of salmon, shrimp, meat, chicken, etc. They then said it was the compressor was going bad so the refrigerator wouldn't last much longer. When my husband called after the freezer went out (with them there the third time), they hurriedly gave us our money back that we paid, which was approximately 525.00; however, they said they wouldn't do anything about the freezer, the food, or the compressor. This $4500.00 refrigerator (it's approximately 4000.00 now) when we purchased it had been working well, with the exception of the ice maker, until they "attempted" to fix it. We usually use Dave Richmer Appliances with any needs, but he wasn't able to get to it right away, and we should've waited. We now have to get a new refrigerator because of what occurred with this company. read more

I have a such a bad experience with this company. The tech name is James. I ordered the whirlpool refrigerator, and it came in to my house from a factory defective. The fridge is under warranty, and we had the same tech at our house for at least 8 times trying to fix the seal between the freezer door and the fridge base. When I called the whirlpool and ask to replace my fridge because it is nor repairable they told me the tech needs to put a notes saying that the fridge is non-reparable. The tech refused to acknowledge the fridge is non-repairable to the whirlpool however he told me that the fridge is non-reparable. This company came to my home to repair my Whirlpool dryer while under warranty, why they were chosen to service my dryer 70 miles away is beyond me. The service rep arrived and done the repair and the noise was gone, however, he left a deadly course of action in his wake. 6 months passed and my dryer was not drying clothes in one cycle, 2 months later my home almost caught fire, he pushed the dryer back and did not attach my vent tube and in the process crushed my vent tube causing a blockage in my dryer exhaust. The lint built up over the months and started burning, luckily I was home to stop a full blown fire. I would never call these people ever again. read more

Last year, I bought a dishwasher from Costco. I had it six months when it started acing funny - sometimes it would clean OK, much of the time not at all, the dishes would be as dirty as when I put them in. Since it was under warranty, I called Costco. They are partnered with this place for repair work. They sent out a guy, who determined it was the water pump. Water pump is replaced, and the dishwasher works about three times before it goes back to the way it was. Next guy they send out says its the control panel. Get that replaced. Same thing happens. Now for the next four times they come out (did I mention these times the dishwasher was unusable was during holidays? Yeah, that was super fun handwashing everything after Christmas dinner) they decided to blame me. First they said the filter was clogged (I know how to access the filter and it gets cleaned once a month so no), then they said one of the arms inside was blocked and they recommended I "start using Rinse Aid" which supposedly would fix all the problems (?) yeah OK - spoiler alert it does not. Then the next guy comes out, pokes at it for about 60 seconds and says "oh its the water valve under the sink, we wont come out again because that's your issue and its a plumbing problem. Not the unit". Well I spent $150 on a plumber to come out and confidently state it was not the valve *sobs* I finally lose my mind and call Costco and just pour out my frustrations on this gem of a woman named Mary. Mary was SO AWESOME and understanding, and told me that this was the only place in the area contracted with Costco, but if the problem still was not addressed after this final time she would personally take care of it. Finally they send out Bill. Bill is literally the only person this company has sent out that has a single brain cell. He tells me that its the MOTOR and that the reason the dishwasher works once or twice after the other repairs is because the control panel was reset and it can operate a little before it fails again. I couldnt believe it, I was absolutely gobsmacked. Of course, the motor gets replaced and now the dishwasher works fine. But I had to be jerked around and condescended to for SIX MONTHS before I found this out. I would literally pay to go someplace to learn appliance repair before I had this company in my house again. An extra star for Bill, I wish they would give him a 50% raise and figure out a way to clone him. read more

Had an appointment on April 15, 2024 for a Maytag washer. The technician showed up and could not find why the washer was leaking. He suggested putting a paper towel in the corner to find the leak. We had already been putting a couple of towels down and they would be completely wet by the end of two washes. I took the washer apart, found that the door boot seal had two tears in it. I ordered a new door boot seal and installed. I would not recommend Preferred Appliance Repair for anything! read more

whirlpool sent a technician out from preferred appliance for my 2 year old refrigerator. the technician opened the doors and told us it was a control panel. they wanted $300 for the part, and $139 service visit to diagnose the pronlem. we said no to the part, and we ordered it online for $55. we put the part in and it didn't work! so they took $139 and didn't even diagnose it correctly! I will be fighting that charge with my bank now. don't rely on these people to know what their doing. they just want the money. read more

Fella came out last Wednesday for a Maytag warranty service, and scheduled for later this week to come back out when they got the needed part in. They called today (Monday) to reschedule, and found out that the service tech is out with COVID. He didn't wear a mask when in my house. I was uncomfortable with it, but didn't say anything even though COVID rates are super high in our area right now because people get so ridiculously confrontational about masks. Now I'm realizing I was likely exposed when he was contagious which really sucks. Our county is reporting about 55/100,000/day which is way in the "red" zone. They need to have service folks mask when in homes. It might have kept him from getting sick too. read more

Poor customer service. I made an appointment for my whirlpool washer. Told them it was making squeaking noice when you first turn it on. I chose the afternoon appointment 12 to 5. The night before. They call and say they could only make it in the morning, second appointment of the day. The slot would be 8 to noon, but most like early, since I'm the second one. So I changed my plans for the day. Then around 10 am, I called to double check my slot. I was told he should be there shortly. At noon I called again. To be told he would be there in a couple hours. When he finally showed up. I had issues with a 2013 Whirlpool Refrigerator with bottom freezer. It was frosting and icing my foods. The service man immediately saw the problem and took care of it in a short time. It was no hassle at all and charge was extremely reasonable. $95 for diagnostic & labor (whether 1 hour or more). Parts are extra but in my case no parts were required. I was very pleased to find this company to deal with. I doubt any other company would have performed this work at this reasonable price. They have a 90-day warranty on their service work also. They specialize in repairs for Whirlpool but also do Jenn-Air & Maytag. I highly recommend them. read more

like other reviewer I called the whirlpool/Maytag 800 number and they dispatched Preferred appliance Repair to my home in Louisville KY. (their office is in Lexington but they have people located all over the place. Basil- our serviceman- was from Oldham county). Our issue was with a Maytag French door refrigerator we bought in 2007. And yes - their service fee is $95 to walk in the door. He called before to ensure we were home, arrived on time, and was very friendly and personable. ( I noted he slipped on some footies to protect out floors.) He knew what the issue was (so did I thanks to google) and told me up front they would have to order the part (high voltage control board). OK, this is an 11 year old fridge - so not unexpected. They air shipped it overnight to my house- was delivered by 10 AM. I called his cell to let him know it arrived, and he told me he would be here as soon as he finished his current call. When he arrived it was a 15 minute installation. Cost, parts and labor was just under $400. Basil was very professional, personable and willing to answer questions. The technician that came was nice but clearly did not know how to "repair" the washer or finally just give up and have a new one ordered. He kept telling me "as long as there is a part to put on it, I can't justify replacing your washer". After the 7th time, I had to file a complaint with the better business bureau and now I am finally being sent a brand new washer from whirlpool. Going 8 weeks without a washer, that I just bought 8 months ago, is absolutley unacceptable. Called Maytag for a repair for my dryer on Jan 4. They called this terrible repair service to provide repair services for us. They called us on the 5th and said they thought the problem was a thermal fuse and that they would have to order the part. Today is Jan 26th, still not a peep from them. I ordered the part and got it in 3 days and repaired the dryer myself for $11.00. This group would have charged us $90 just to come here then part on top of that. I have a Lowe's extended warranty on my Maytag washer and dryer which was purchased in 2017. I have had the washer repaired a few times by Perferred Appliance Repair, Mr. Flat out of Mayfield, he is the best! A few months back I needed a repair done after Lowe's changed warranty companies they said PAR wasn't on their list anymore, it actually is, and they sent out Ward Elkins repair out of Murray I ended up paying for the repair of $260 and he basically threatened me with having my warranty voided because he said someone removed a screen. No one had even worked in that part of the washer but him... I called PAR and spoke to Jennifer, she was very helpful, and asked if they were still part of Lowe's extended warranty and she assured me they were. Made the mistake of scheduling through Whirlpool; they sent a technician from PAR, which is an hour away, who charged me $95 just to walk in my door. Other than somewhat confirming my suspicions of what the problem was (he wasnt THAT confident), he offered nothing else...no part of the $95 show up fee went toward the eventual repair (which of course he couldnt do that day). I essentially paid $95 to get someone to leave my house, and for making the mistake of thinking scheduling through the manufacturer would mean someone that was more knowledgeable about the appliance (definitely not the case). read more
