Ordered a little bit of everything and unfortunately, did not like most of what was ordered. The best thing we had was the kids alfredo and the roll. The meat in the gumbo was over cooked. The crawfish enchiladas were mostly tortilla, with a small amount of crawfish in a sauce. The dirty rice was dry. Maybe we ordered the wrong items but we were not a fan. The service was good and the atmosphere was great. They have a gator in the front.

While we are here in Louisiana, we wanted to have Cajun food and we found this restaurant in Lafayette, the heart of Cajun country. We had alligator bites for appetizer. For our main dish, I ordered gumbo and husband ordered crawfish etoufee, and for dessert we shared bread pudding. Glad to finally try alligator - it was fried and coated with breading and tasted like chicken. The gumbo and crawfish were both delicious! Everything we ordered were great! Very cool decor - especially the real alligator display. Service was fast and our server was super nice!

The atmosphere is loud and social. The food is full of flavor in every bite. Great service. Highly recommend.

I was in town, recruiting at the university of Lafayette and this place was recommended to me by a colleague. It is the quintessential Louisiana Bayou restaurant. The menu is loaded with Louisiana favorites, such as jambalaya, gumbo, and all the seafood you could possibly eat. Having a shellfish allergy wasn't an issue as there were a lot of menu options that did not include seafood. The chicken and sausage gumbo was delicious. The Boudin burger was unique and extremely flavorful. My colleague had jumbo shrimp dinner and those were some of the biggest shrimp I've ever seen. Leave room for the bread pudding because it is not to be missed. Great place for a casual dinner.

Food was okay, not equivalent to my past experiences there. The food and service were both okay, not planning a revisit.

I never thought I would be writing a raving review about a caeser salad with chicken, because it's really just the "i'm trying to be healthy" option... but then Louisiana strikes again. Every city has amazing food -- and I visit a lot of places -- but literally every thing, even the most basic of things, in New Orleans and the surrounding area is special. In this case, I had one of the best tasting salads, and even the chicken that went in it (which I had minimal expectations on since it was a lunch special where I got chicken gumbo and a chicken caeser salad for like 12 bucks or something insanely cheap, which was yet again the perfect amount for a fully satisfying meal...) was delicious. We all know chicken is pretty darn difficult to make good without frying it.. it often is dry or chewy but this was just pure perfection. Also, where else do you also get bacon and eggs included in the salad?! I also had the diplomat's old fashion which was phenomenal. I mean, this is the reason I can't live in a place like New Orleans; there are infinite incredible food options at amazing prices, and I'd have no reason to have a kitchen and would want to eat out non-stop, all the time...

Prejeans is a required stop any time we are in Louisiana. I'll admit to being a gumbo fanatic and Prejeans is part of the reason. Amazing gumbo, whichever style you go for. The place is usually busy but service is great and the atmosphere is pure Louisiana. Must try if you want the best gunb

The seafood gumbo is delicious and FULL of seafood! The fried half & half platter was good and enough to share with my husband. The crawfish etoufee was seasoned just right! The service was fast and friendly with many menu suggestions. The place is clean with a Cajun vibe. Yes, I recommend this place!

Stopped here on the way to New Orleans, craving some fried Cajun food and this place absolutely delivered! My household is full of seafood and Cajun food lovers, so we were in heaven from the start. We started off with a dozen chargrilled oysters and every single one was packed with flavor. For the main course, my boyfriend and I shared the seafood platter which was a feast in itself. It came with fried shrimp, fried catfish, fried oysters, fried crawfish tails, fries, and hush puppies. The fried catfish was the star for me-crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, with perfectly seasoned breading. While everything on the platter was delicious the hush puppies stole the show. I'm not even sure what goes into making a hush puppy to be honest but what I do know is that the ones here were the best I've ever had. Service was decent and fast too. Even with a party of nine, we were in and out in just an hour and a half and back on the road. If you're ever passing through, I highly recommend stopping by this spot.

Loved seeing this sign outside parking area.

Both our dinner were excellent. Perfectly seasoned. We ate at the bar and our bartender was great. The price was awesome. We haven't had that much food with one drink each for that price $56.80. In years. We will be back.

Soooo I saw an instagram video and it led us here! This food was exactly as advertised- CAJUN! Spicy - Authentic baby! Spicy for me but great food and good atmosphere. Homemade from scratch type of kitchen, something like someone's mama put their foot into! Best part- our waiter DAVID! He was so kind and patient. Explained all the different kinds of food, gave us samples of crawfish and gumbo to try as well. There was a live band on Saturday night, which was super cool as well. If you are in Lafayette and you missed this place - shame on you!!!

We had chicken and sausage gumbo, Pepper Jack boudin balls, bam bam gator bites and the blackened chicken pasta. The waiter this time was better than the waitress we had last time. He was very attentive and made sure we never had to ask for refills. The appetizers came out fairly normal time-wise I would say. The main portion took a little bit longer than what you're used to at a franchise restaurant but here that's perfectly fine as it's worth the couple extra minutes. The gumbo is perfect(I love when gumbo is not over complicated) I like to add a lil hot sauce to it and it's delicious... only thing is, while they already give generous portions... the cup and the bowl looked exactly the same except I think in the bowl they give you one extra scoop of rice... which would be just fine if it wasn't like $6 more. But still delicious nonetheless. The bam bam gator bites were really good and I highly recommend them. If you like bam bam shrimp you'll love these. The pepper jack boudin balls were good, nothing special but they were definitely worth the try. My co-worker had the blackened chicken pasta and when I asked him how it was he said "dude, it's really good!" lol. The building is pretty unique and they have some outside seating with a massive beautiful tree that over looks the restaurant and takes claim to some of the asphalt in the parking lot lol. But it's a great spot for birthdays, good lunch menu deals, casual date night or if you wanna blow some steam off, they have a little bar in the restaurant as well. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I'm from East Texas, so I'm no Cajun/Louisianan but they truly got some good grub here. I'll definitely be coming back several more times when I get the chances. I will warn you, I believe the food is freshly made so when it gets to the table, give it some time to cool off because it comes out HOT.

We tried a few different bites, and everything was exactly what you want from a spot like this -- flavorful, fresh, and satisfying every single time. Food: The food is really the main attraction here. Nothing overly fancy or trying too hard, just consistently good food that delivers every time. Everything we tried was solid, and it's the kind of place where you already know you're leaving happy before you even order. Service: Service was smooth with no issues at all. The staff kept things moving, and the experience was easy from start to finish. Ambiance: Billy's has that classic Louisiana stop-through feel to it. Nothing extravagant, but it doesn't need to be. The cracklins had a little bit of fat and meat on them which I wasn't used to. I'm just used to the fried crispy skin. It tasted more like fried/seasoned pork belly. The seasoning is really good though. My favorite boudin was Billy's more than the smoked one but my fiance liked the smoked flavor more. I wish we took pics but we just ate it in the car. The casing was a little tough to bite through so I sliced it and scooped out the insides. Although the Billy's boudin is good, I don't know if it was good enough to drive from Texas for it. Our wait was quoted at 40 minutes, and it was fairly accurate. They have a full bar to grab a drink and chat with friends while you wait. You can also grab a drink and stand alone in the corner, but that would be creepy as hell. Once seated, I was ready for some food. My kid and I shared some of their firecracker chargrilled oysters, and they were wonderful. Ensure your order has charbroiled oyster,s and you will be happy. The table also had an order of fried onion rings, and they, too, were excellent. My entrée was fried shrimp. When it arrived, I was concerned as the batter looked a little darker than I am used to. Growing up, my…read moreparents were fond of them, so they've been a part of most vacations, and many of them tend to blend into one another. Vermilionville, however, stood out as one of the best, and is a memory I'll hang onto for a while. The attendants in period garb were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer our questions. The woman with her spinning wheel even gave us a demonstration. She had taught herself to spin whilst working there and explained the excessive amount of hours it took to finish even one sweater. She also made it possible for me to try the bread pudding I'd been eyeing on the restaurant menu; she warned me they were closing in just 15 minutes so we rushed over and put our order in. Now, I'm not sure if their restaurant has its own yelp page so I'll just review it here. That pudding was the most delicious, most perfect bread pudding I've ever had, and I've tried quite a lot from some of the best places in NOLA. The top was crisply caramelized, and the center was a buttery custard infused with vanilla and cinnamon--an aromatic taste sensation. The server brought me two containers to go (an extra as I'd only asked for one!) and I was so excited to try it, I devoured the first one while wandering between the houses. There were some rather beautiful little homes, furnished with accurate historic decor, and I appreciated that we were able to look at things on our own, at our own pace, free from having to follow a guide. We visited on a day it was set to storm, but we were able to see most of the buildings before the sky opened up on us. We foolishly forgot to bring umbrellas of any kind, so we ended up darting between structures, and eventually taking refuge in the old church while the worst of the rain passed. It was atmospheric and memorable. We found some charming animals in a little barn--a donkey and two sheep and we said hello. There were even mushrooms, and among them we found a single chanterelle, so keep an eye out, fellow mushroom hunters! Lastly, you must leave adequate time to check out the gift shop. They have something for everyone, and much of it made by local artisans! I would recommend Vermilionville to anyone with an appreciation for southern history.
