An Architect's Review…read more As an architect, I work with contractors on a regular basis and needless to say, I was probably more particular than most when it came to choosing someone to work on my own home. Word of mouth and research led me to ARC / Armando... and I'm glad I went with him! From the beginning, communication was clear and straightforward. We went through the scope of work, my requirements and budget. I had some very basic drawings prepared to communicate my ideas. Along the way, Armando made suggestions to work with my requirements and budget. His pricing was reasonable and, most importantly, he completed the work within the budget we originally agreed upon. Anyone who has done a renovation before knows how easily costs can start creeping up once work begins. That was not my experience here. The scope and budget were established upfront and Armando stuck to them. And this was very important to me as I had no way of accommodating an increase in cost. The work was for a garage renovation, it included interior demo, replacement of an exterior window, addition of a new exterior door, vinyl wood flooring, drywall and installation of a new gypsum ceiling. Work progressed efficiently and to my expectations with no unnecessary delays. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and mostly Armando initiating the conversations to keep me updated. He was also very easy to work with on finishes and hardware. Some items I provided myself while others were sourced by him. Again, he made recommendations to work with my budget while not compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, the quality of the work was exceptional. It has now been over a year since the renovation was completed and everything still looks as good as the day it was finished. Absolutely zero complaints! His attention to detail was very much appreciated. He constantly made suggestions when he felt something could be improved. For example, he suggested a more random tile pattern for the vinyl floor instead of the more regular stagger I had proposed. We went with his suggestion and I am very pleased with it. Armando is knowledgeable, reliable and a pleasure to work with. Coming from someone who deals with contractors professionally all the time, I don't make that recommendation lightly. Definitely highly recommended and he will be my first call for future projects!

It was my first experience with a kitchen remodel and David proved to be patient and kind, never making me feel like my questions were silly or naive. He responded to all of my texts promptly and delivered on every one of my requests. The craftsmen employed by Horizon were professional and skilled. They did a fantastic job, and cleaned up as they went along. Horizon also operates a showroom in Fullerton, so I was able to see options in situ, not just small samples. David and everyone I met in the showroom were knowledgeable and friendly. They listened to me, made a real effort to understand my aesthetic, and then made great suggestions. The entire process from beginning to end (3 months to the day) went just about as smooth as one could hope for such a large project. Another contractor was going to charge thousands of dollars to put in a beam. Mike didn't charge me anything to evaluate my situation even though his recommendations didn't get him a job. He saved me a lot of money and trouble down the road.

Including kitchen reno, bathroom remodel, laundry room remodel, millwork, wet bar reno, plumbing, electrical, lots of painting and more. They never completed our job. They promised over and over to return to finish painting, fixing issues with grouting and much more. Despite Rick setting numerous dates to come back, then canceling, they never returned. His subs permanently damaged marble slabs that were installed in our bathroom shower. One of his subs threw a temper tantrum and put holes the marble mosaic floor when he dropped tools. The workmanship with respect to tiling and grouting was very poor, we found many places they missed. They also installed our toilet so badly that you cannot shut off the water at the bottom. The pedestal sink they installed has millwork behind it, the plumbing connections were never put together properly. They left behind materials that they never came to pickup. I paid for services we never received. These pics are just from the bathroom. Unlike the marble, most issues we had could have easily been fixed, but Rick chose not to. I can guarantee if he hadn't been paid in full, he would have returned. Unfortunately, he had a complete lack integrity to complete the job and correct his mistakes.
