But then after starting the job my wife watched his workers, at his direction, pour paint from one entirely different generic looking bucket into another, and bring it into the house to continue painting. And when I came home at lunch, and asked Matt about it, he got condescending and started making some excuse about my wife being confused or that his workers were confused, even though they were only following his orders. But Matt kept insisting it would be fine. As I was walking back out to my car to return to the office I noticed the two "other" buckets of paint at Matt's vehicle, so out of curiosity I went to home depot where he said he bought his paint, and sure enough the other paint was significantly cheaper than the paint he promised to use in his bid and according to employees was not even close in quality to the more premium one that was supposed to be used in the job. I'm no paint expert, but the rooms they painted with the second paint even smelled different that night from the first where they started the job. Typical bait-&-switch of an unprofessional businessman, and had my wife not stayed home that day and been paying attention we wouldn't have known. The following day before settling the bill with Matt I again questioned the paint switch, and told him I wasn't comfortable paying full price for a job he used lower grade paint. He immediately got indignant and threatened to place a lien against our home if we didn't pay the bill in full, raising his voice at me in front of my wife and children. Even the neighbors heard him. Somehow I was hoping I was wrong, but now a year later the hallway and rooms that were painted with the cheaper paint are showing definite signs of wear, and you can even scrape it off with your fingernail. Needless to say I won't be using his services again, and rest assured being as his unsavory rant and threats turned into the buzz of the neighborhood, neither will a lot of other people.

We had an excellent experience with Utah Basements this past year. They completed our unfinished…read morebasement with 2 bedrooms, large living area, exercise room, utility room, linen closet, under the stairs closet, and full bath. They were able to schedule us immediately once we received all the bids, and the project took roughly 9 weeks from start to final walkthrough. Utah Basements was the second highest bid received, partly because they did not do the flooring (which we got through RC Willey). Communicating with Todd was very convenient, and he responded quickly to text, email, and messages through the UBKB online client portal, where we formally documented design changes. Victor was on site most days and was extremely professional and very friendly. He answered all of our questions, gave helpful suggestions, and always contacted us when there was an issue or he needed direction. Once materials were in, the crew made fantastic progress framing, plumbing, and electrical. The rest of the process went very smoothly, with the minor exception that a bunch of paint touch ups were needed, but those were taken care of immediately. Overall we had a top-notch experience with Todd, Victor and UBKB, couldn't be happier with the final product, and would definitely recommend them if you need a basement finished!

The cover has leaked since shortly after installation, causing water to pool on the deck and creating a slipping hazard from ice buildup. I first contacted the company for warranty support after the initial leak in the fall of 2025. Derek Parker came out and retaped the seams on the awning, stating that this was the repair method recommended by the manufacturer, Renaissance. After the first snow in early December and then thaw, the awning began leaking severely. On December 4, 2025, I reached out again and left multiple voicemail messages and emails requesting assistance but received no return communication. On December 18, 2025, after I sent an email, the company finally acknowledged my concerns via email, took responsibility for the lack of communication, and promised to schedule warranty work. However, as of January 19, 2026, no further action nor communication has taken place. Because the office phone is not answered and voicemail messages are not returned, I requested via email that someone come out between January 9 and January 16, 2026, to at least document the situation including written notes, photos, and a detailed description of the problem and to confirm next steps for repair since we understand it may be a challenge to repair in the winter time. That request has gone unanswered. In my experience, Big Yeti Builders and its representatives have not followed through on their stated commitments regarding warranty service. Communication with the office manager, Kim Crandall, when she does answer the phone, has also not resulted in any confirmed action or resolution. As of January 19, 2026, their contractor license (#10687874-5501) expired. This review is based solely on my personal experience with this company. I recommend that prospective customers ensure they receive clear written documentation of warranty terms, follow-up procedures, and payment schedules before hiring.

When we decided to use these guys he came back on a Saturday to do our contract. He stuck to the estimate he gave us and gave us exactly what we wanted. He even took the time to discuss how the deck should be rebuilt so that it will last longer. They came out on a Tuesday and started in. Torn down the old deck, cleaned up the area, then stared in on the new deck. By the end of the day most of the new deck was done. The next day was finishing up the trim and installing the railing. Again, once it was done they did a great job cleaning up the area. Saving this company's business card for other work I need done in the future. They are worth it.
