I mainly leaving this review in regards to the optical department as they have been pretty terrible to work with. they never answer the phone and no one ever reached out when our glasses arrived. You basically have to just go in person to get any information from the optical department. whoever is the office manager needs some work. I will say we really like the doctor and she's been great to work with and the only reason we continue going here. read more

We have been coming to this office for many years, and the doctors have always been excellent. Depending on the day and time, the front desk staff is also friendly and helpful. I wish we could rate different areas of the practice. Doctors and front desk are between 4 to 5 stars. Unfortunately, our experience with the optical department has been consistently disappointing. They rarely answer the phone, and when we do reach someone, the staff often come across as rude and uninterested in helping. Rather than offering guidance or possible solutions, we were simply told to contact our insurance company. Our insurance has remained the same for decades, yet we were told the optical department does not accept it, even though the medical office does. That inconsistency was confusing, and no one took the time to explain why or help us understand our options. We will continue coming to this practice because we value the doctors and the medical care they provide. Not sure why everyone is moaning about the office staff here. I had no issues. Came in on time, a little ahead of my time actually and they seated me after taking my info. There were no rude monster ladies at the desk, they were actually pleasant fast and efficient. The office is very busy today. Maybe don't expect small talk for days at the counter? The counter is all business do it fast and move forward. From there I waited for a surprisingly short time. Was called back to the examinations area, they did the eye retina measurement then took me to a private exam room, now there's some light cosmetic damage on furniture and surfaces but nothing significant or functional damaged. The entire diagnostic suite is in working order and all equipment works as expected. Sometimes changing equipment that I trust being put into my eye is things I'd rather just left alone if they are in working order. Don't change what just works. The clinicians are all pleasant and are relatively conversational but again, this is a busy high volume clinic, you came to get your eyes examined for a prescription. You came for a procedure. If you're grading the place on how much they talk then go somewhere smaller where they can accommodate more consultation time. Here you're going to need to be fast and efficient or they will feel awkwardly fast and hurried to you. There are no clinical concerns against their care. They clean equipment prior to each use, they check comfort levels and adjust lighting and comfort items as needed. Requests are typically honored (I requested before my visit that I do not do dilation in a common room so they let me keep private exam suite for the entire visit). I've been going to this and their Barrington office since before COVID-19 and I have no plans to change my vision service provider any time soon. Now, the gritty. But this is an EYE CLINIC AND SURGERY CENTER. It's not an eyeglass shop, the eyeglass shop is horribly overpriced. But who cares! They print your prescription anyway! Just fill it at an outside optical shop. Great eye clinic, optical shop is just there for theatre and if people got big wads of money to burn or Lamborghini insurance. Other than that I fully recommend this office. And this is coming from an autistic needlephobic who screams at the sight of needles. read more

I have been taking one of my two kids here for over a year and the second one for around 6 months. I took the second one there due to an extremely positive and patient experience with Dr. Kolton. He sees Dr. Lenard however. My experience there has been one of dread. If I didn't have postpartum depression after him I would after dealing with her. She started seeing him at 18 months and immediately it's been all judgement that he takes off his glasses through out the day. Doesn't recognize all the of the antiquated shapes he's shown and generally speaking struggles to want to wear them. The glasses department is hard to reach, condescending and difficult to navigate. I've been waiting two days so far for a call back about a warranty on a pair of glasses we purchased there. read more

Both our boys failed their annual eye test, so it was time to get them into the professionals. We were referred by our pediatrician to this location. We were actually provided a list of a few offices to go to, but Premier was the one we could get into the fastest. Covid-19 is taken very seriously. Only one parent with a child. They took our temperature when we arrived, and the seats were properly distanced. There was hand sanitizer everywhere! The office was very clean. First there was a nurse who did the actual eye testing and dilating of the eyes. She was wonderful and extremely thorough. After she was done with her testing, we waited in Dr. Leonard's room for Dr. Leonard to finish the exam (both boys saw Dr. Leonard). There was an exceptionally comfy couch in Dr. Leonard's office. Dr. Leonard was patient, informative, and extremely sincere. I could tell she works with kids all the time. Premier Eye Care is extremely family friendly. Take Note: Their policies are very strict and upfront. Don't be late, because you'll have to pay $75. I was reminded of that more than once (I was almost late with boy #2 due to traffic - yikes). read more

Just visited Premier eyecare in Buffalo Grove with my daughter. Dr Kolton was wonderful and professional but the rest of the experience was horrible. The front desk staff were beyond rude. The young girl who took us back for the initial testing was very abrasive and abrupt with me. I was trying to ask her a question if we were changing rooms because I didn't want to settle into the chair and have to move again or be in the way. She answered me rudely and then kept talking over me. My daughter commented afterward how "the lady wouldn't listen to you and kept cutting you off." When I went to check out, the middle-aged woman with glasses behind the front desk was the worst part of the experience. I was told there was a $55 charge for my daughter's prescription. I told her that I was not informed about the charge upfront. She stated that I knew because I signed a form that disclosed the fee. That was not the case. I did not sign a form. She could not produce said form. Her tone was accusatory and demeaning. I could go on because there is more. What a horrible experience! Do we need to remind these folks that they have a job because of us - the customers? If they are that unhappy with their job, then go somewhere else. Beware, if you plan on going here. This is not the end of my complaint, I will be taking this further with the office manager. We were already rescheduled 3 times, mostly a day or 2 days before. Not sure if my children will be able to get eye exams even though I tried to arrange to be there and it's possible a doctor will not be able to see us again. We need eye exam for contacts and cannot order new ones because the prescription is expired. Learned that for some reason siblings can be seen only one after another in this place. If there is another patient between appointments - need to schedule for another day. Very poor customer service. Nonsense and really poor organization of business. Try to avoid this place. read more

The young woman who did the initial eye exam of my daughter was very nice. The actual eye doctor was passive aggressive with me, and rushed my special needs daughter through the exam. The woman where I could purchase the eye glasses from was also extremely rude. Then I was treated rudely at the check out. I was made to feel like it was an inconvenience to even deal with or talk to me or my daughter the whole visit. I am extremely disappointed with this buffalo grove office and will not be returning. I was a patient at the barrington office for years and Dr Kathy was beyond wonderful with my special needs daughter, and her staff and office was always very kind. The doctor who we see is very nice and knowledgeable. But front desk is another story... they are NOT nice at all. I am hanging by a thread while talking to them. I don't understand why not have a meeting and speak to all the front desk and teach them how to speak to patients. 3 doctors in last 3 years. I forgot my contacts and glasses for a vacation and they would not send me a temp supply. They said I should have remembered my glasses and it was my problem. I then asked for my records to be sent so I could address my problem and was told medical records is not in the office for three days. I hope I don't get an eye infection wearing my daily lenses for at least 4 days until my records arrive and I can take them to an optomitirist on my vacation. The feedback is not for a Doctor but for a font desk stuff. They are unbelievable rude. Appointments are moved without your knowledge. They just sent message that I have appointment on Wednesday afternoon, although initially it was scheduled for Monday different time. Took my 5 year old here for an eye exam. First, Dr Leonard is not good with children. They take pediatric patients but they don't seem to specialize in this area so I wouldn't recommend this place for families. Second, per multiple other reviews, the front desk staff is unnecessarily rude and impatient! The fact that this business knows about this issue and hasn't made any changes is reason enough to go elsewhere. They just don't care enough about people to be polite. read more

I saw Dr. Golden for my very first eye exam (I'm in my 30s) and for some burning of my eyes that I've been experiencing. He was supper gentle and explained everything that he was doing. After the consultation he went over my treatment plan with me and sent me home with a few eye drop samples to test. Within a few days of starting the prescription drops I felt 100% better. As far as the practice goes, everyone was supper friendly, the tech that roomed me and got my information was very kind and knowledgeable as well. The scheduling process was easy. I didn't have to wait for my appointment they took me back right when I was scheduled. I would come back and see Dr. Golden again, and recommend this practice in general. read more

I'm not sure how the optometrists are but the front office seems to care less and I believe management sets the tone for the receptionists and support staff. Showed up for my 10:45 appointment early, filled out the paperwork, and then was told that the doctor was not in today. Then I called back twice to reschedule and two different people told me that they would call me back with an appointment - still waiting.. Then I read on yelp where there is a $75 late fee and they won't release your records to another provider? Guess I was fortunate not to have gotten another appointment - I don't need this kind of place! Time to look around.. read more

I called and specifically asked if they can provide services for children with special needs. Their answer was affirmative: "we can manage without problems". Based on their answer, we scheduled an appointment for a routine for routine checkup. Our experience was horrible to say the least their staff, included medical staff have no training, patience, or nor the attitude towards dealing with special need children - which explicitly said they had. I Will never return!! This was my first visit to this doctors office and instead of being friendly and welcoming, the front desk staff acted like they were being inconvenienced by me checking in. The first assistant that took me into the room was Jackie and she was very nice. She dilated my eyes and took measurements etc, and then she brought me to another area for photos to be done of my eyelids. A second assistant then brought me into another room and then started doing what Jackie had just done and when I asked her about the photos of my eye lids being taken she was very rude and said I am taking pictures. She was so rude I didn't want to ask any further details. Then when Dr. Differding came in, there was no hello or nice to meet you, no sorry for the wait (over an hour) and he was just as rude as the second girl. He did not even ask what was going on with my eyes. He sat down in a very rushed way and just started looking at my eyes. I explained that I was having blurriness in my one eye and that I think I have calcium deposits under my eye lids. He looked and said yes you do and said nothing to address either issue. All he said was "you have blocked oil ducts use a lid wash and come back in 6 weeks". He then just handed me my paperwork and walked out. I was so blown away at the unprofessionalism and lack of thoroughness I could not wait to get out of there. THE WORST!!!! read more

God forbid if you have state aid they won't let you pick appointments and if you have an appointment they cancel it and they will call you to reschedule. They never call back. So my son had his first post-"Covid-19 stay at home" doctor's appointment today with Dr. Deena Leonard at Premier Eye Care. I kind of knew what to expect but I was shocked at how seamlessly the entire staff has transitioned to this new normal in a short time. Safe and efficient, I'd even feel comfortable taking my elderly parents here. Dr. Leonard, as always, is the best pediatric ophthalmologist around! My teenager has seen her since he was little and she has been the doctor he needed at each age. She is kind and holds him accountable for the care of contacts etc. if needed. Highly recommend her for your kiddos' eyeballs! read more

We had an appointment there with our special needs daughter today for a very specific reason. Our eye doctor of 8 years (who we are fond of )recommended this practice for the specific condition we were faced with. They proceeded to give our daughter 2 eye tests that had NOTHING to do with the reason for our visit. After meeting our daughter for 20 minutes, the doctor suggested that she knows our daughters behaviors and tendencies better than we do. She also tried to discredit the doctor that referred us and did so in a condescending and pretentious manner. In an attempt to convince us that she was right and we should let her continue to do an exam that we deemed unnecessary, she had the audacity to say to us about our daughter "she is a human being and deserves to see". Yes, there is context around that statement, but make no mistake, she insinuated that my wife and I needed to be told how to raise and treat our daughter. It was definitely a reference to her disability, and while not an attempt to be mean spirited to our daughter, it was an indictment on us as parents, and one I can proudly say that is not warranted. I strongly encourage anyone that expects to be treated with respect to find another practice. I would give zero stars if it would let me. read more

This has to be one of the most frustrating optometrists. We started going here because my son has Down Symdrome and they were recommend to us by our primary care physician. My list of complaints: 1. They are never on time. I had hoped it would be just the first time, but it is routinely 30-40min late regardless of when are Appt is made. Whether we arrive at 9am or just after lunch. There is always a wait. 2. They always have an issue at check in with our insurance even though it has remained in changed for years. 3. They always complain about his glasses. No matter where we have them made at. I really don't like to put in negative reviews, but 7 years without change has caused me to modify that policy. read more

I came here for my daughter (11). She didn't care much for Dr Leonard, the pediatric opthamologist, (wasn't very kid friendly). When my daughter got her glasses, she said she could see better with her old glasses and Dr Leonard snapped at her. Dr. L. would talk about her as if she weren't in the room. Kids hate that. The front desk is ridicoulously rude. I was in the waiting room with my daughter for about 20 mins waiting to be called and I had to go to my car to get something. The receptionist (mel) thought I left without paying and came running after me like I'm somekind of thief. Yeah, I'm really going to try an escape but leave my kid in the waiting room. Another day, another receptionist saw me walk in with my LIDDED coffee and escorted me to the kitchen and told me to wait there until I finished my coffee. When I went to get the prescription filled, they (same office) wanted $149 for lenses and the frame was "on sale" for $150: Total $300. I took the prescription to Costco and paid under $100 out the door, lenses and frame. The only nice person was the girl who showed my daugter how to put in and take out the contacts. She was very patient and friendly. Not enough for me to come back though. read more

Receptionist that was there today was on the curt side and did not smile once. When my daughter was two, she scratched her cornea with a toy stethescope. I can't complain about the care we received but I was a little pissed off that instead of giving me a prescription for antibiotic eye drops, they recommended I buy it from them. So, I paid for a drug that would have been covered 100% by my insurance company, since my family maximum had been met. So, just because of that, I won't go here again. read more

I have been going to Premier Eye Care & Surgery since 2017 to see Dr. Marina Roytman. I had myopia -8, was wearing contacts for the last 20 years and time to time was getting eye infections. Excellent experience with Dr. Marina Roytman every single appointment! She is professional, attentive and truly cares. Because of my trust to Dr. Marina Roytman and confidence that I'm in good hands I finally decided to get Lasic done. Dr. Joseph Kiernan did the surgery. He was amazing! Walked me through the surgery and it was painless. Now my vision is corrected to 20/20. I can't thank Dr. Roytman and Dr. Kiernan enough. They gave me the new life with my new eyes! read more

Dr. Leonard is the best! Not only did she surgically fix my lazy eye when i was young but she also gave me back my confidence! She now sees my 17 month daughter. I will never bring my child or future children anywhere else and always recommend her to any and all of my friends and family. Side Note...this facility in Buffalo Grove is very nice. I wish I can give this 0 stars. After traveling a half hour and taking my kids out of school early for an appointment that took 6 weeks to get in the first place I walked in and the front staff (Desi I believe was her name) immediately told me I would have to leave and reschedule my appointment because I had my other 2 children with me. Never once did they tell me I was not able to bring my children with me. They also send out an automated text message prior to your visit with not one word stating that other children can be brought with. I offered up multiple suggestions in order to make my appointment work along with a man offering to watch my kids outside because he could not believe how I was being treated (she was also very rude to this man and was getting loud with him) and nothing was good enough for this lady. She did nothing to accommodate me besides repeat that I had to reschedule like I would ever ever come back to such an awful place. Being a first time patient they should of had more consideration for there lack of communication on there part and this being there fault. I have never dealt with such an awful front staff. To refuse a mother and not offer any type of accommodations. I would NEVER reschedule or ever go back to this place!!!!! read more

I am a patient of Dr. Kaplan. He made me feel at ease from the 1st office visit and through my 2 cataract surgeries. Any type of surgery is scarey..but he was very calm and explained the procedures. The people (receptionists, technicians, and even the person that does the billing)in both of his offices are very helpful. They are kind and always smile. I highly recommend Doctor Kaplan. read more

Our son had undergone about two months of misery with the eczema which was first thought to be seborroheic dermatitis. Both my wife and I were very frustrated that nothing was working and after the rash had looked really bad our pediatrician told us that he had a herpetic infection which was most likely caused by someone kissing him over the holidays that had a cold sore. He told us not to worry, 80% of us carry this virus which causes cold sores, mono and chicken pox. He had confirmed that this condition was not caused by the more stigmatic genital herpes. Dr. Leonard seemed to be more preoccupied with how our son contracted the virus than anything else. She asked us if our doctor told us how he became infected and we told him probably orally from someone kissing him over the holidays. His skin had been very raw many times and was highly susceptible to infection. She then asked my wife if she had a vaginal delivery. After my son's eyes were dilated, we went back into the room for Dr. Leonard to examine him to make sure the virus did not do any damage to his eyes. She asked my wife at that point if the doctors did any blood tests on her during her pre-natal visits. I intervened and explained to her that 80% of people carry the herpes virus that causes cold sores, shingles, mono and chicken pox and with that in mind 4 of the 5 people that currently were in the exam room probably have it (Dr. Leonard had an intern with her). She later commented that although 80% of people do have it, not everyone has breakouts. We left there feeling like we were morally being judged for our son's condition. Dr. Leonard went outside of the scope of her expertise in giving advice and her comments that she made to my wife were in very poor taste. We had many medical professional s that we dealt with at Lutheran General Hospital and our pediatricians and everyone was very supportive and understanding of his condition. We were merely seeing Dr. Leonard to confirm that our son's eye was clear of infection and also to get clarity on what to do to keep the eye safe. We got those questions answered, but unfortunately left with a whole lot more. We will not see this doctor again and would not recommend as well. read more
