When I picked up the car, I didn't detect a smell in the car but that's because my sense of smell is not strong. My wife later sat in the car and detected the residue of cigarette smoke. Upon returning the car, I voluntarily disclosed that the car had a smoke odor. Neither my wife nor I smoke. I was then informed that I would be charged a $250 cleaning fee, claiming that I should have reported the smell from "day one" and that my failure to do so made me responsible for the condition. At this point, the return date was approaching so I limited my use of the vehicle and reported the condition upon return. In exchange for disclosing the problem honestly and in good faith, they decided to weaponize it against me. I can't even begin to explain how outrageous this is. The odor was present when the vehicle was provided to me. Enterprise failed to detect it before handing me the keys, and instead tried to shoulder me with the financial consequences of their failure. I want to specifically point out that the branch manager at this location, Cecilia, was extraordinarily rude and unprofessional and had absolutely NO INTEREST in my explanation. I had the fee reversed by calling Enterprise customer service who immediately apologized and said they would reverse the cleaning fee. But no one should ever rent from this location.

Later in the day I realized the interior smelled like someone had been smoking in there. I called today and Kyle said he'd be happy to put me in something else. He had an Audi Q3 waiting for me when I got there with no additional charge from the Rav-4.
