What stands out to me the most about Premier is their white wine selection. I was able to find wines that are sparsely stocked at most other stores. For example, I'm delighted when any wine store carries a selection of South African whites, but most of the time said stores stock their South Africa section primarily with Sauvignon Blanc. This is fine - I love it. But Chenin Blanc is where it's at when it comes to South African whites, and whoever does the ordering for Premier seems to understand this. They also have a number of my go-to's that I can't always find elsewhere, including Picpoul de Pinet, Gavi, and Vinho Verde. Premier has an expansive inventory of New Zealand whites. One thing I admire dearly about Premier is that they do not dedicate a disproportionate amount of shelf space to California wines. To each their own, but some of us don't like Cali wines, and some stores simply fail to grasp that. Premier is not one of those stores! The prices here are great, especially if you shop the sales! Last, but certainly not least - the staff here is knowledgeable and friendly! Asking questions is one of my favorite things to do at wine stores because I'm admittedly not an expert and I'm always trying to learn more about what I like. You can do that here comfortably - as in, without feeling unwelcome or dumb - and if the person you ask can't help you, they'll find someone who can. I trust that. read more

By far the best liquor store in Buffalo (from what I have seen at least). When you walk into Premier Wine and Spirits you have two doors to choose from, both of which lead you into wonderlands of selection and pre-inebriation. Take a left: You walk into a MASSIVE warehouse like space with high ceilings. You are hit with their impressive wine selection which takes over more than half of the store. Usually there are vendors offering tastings of their wines right when you walk in which is nice. Walk all the way to the left and you will then be where the liquor sits. The selection (of both wine and liquor) is very impressive and sometimes a bit overwhelming. If this store doesn't have it, you probably need to special order whatever it is you are looking for. I also like the various ratings and reviews they have on their liquors. It helps me make a decision when trying something new. There is really nothing to not like about this side of the building. The prices are very reasonable and sometimes amazing due to the rebates they often offer. Take a right: You walk into a marketplace with high end pantry items, cookware, and an impressive beer selection. If you have a growler, you can fill it up in here too. I do believe there is a deli/bakery in here as well. I sometimes wander in here after I get wine/liquor and grab a six-pack of "exotic" beer that I have never tried before if I am feeling adventurous. That's about it though, everything else here is usually pretty expensive for my budget. I pass by 2-3 liquor stores before I reach premier. It is that good. See for yourself. read more

Really horrible customer service. I ordered 10 bottles of wine as a gift with specific instructions on the bottle and vintage I wanted. They ended up shipping a product that I didn't want and I had to call 3 times to get any information. When I finally spoke with someone, they placed ALL of the blame on me. They took no accountability and said I would have to pay for the shipping to return it. At the very least, a company with decent customer service would 1) call me before they shipped if they didn't understand the instructions or 2) chalk it up to a misunderstanding and not make the customer pay twice for shipping. There was zero empathy, zero customer service and zero follow up. I would never order wine from this company. read more

The selection is so large that it can be overwhelming; however, this place is well staffed with people available to help you. I first discovered Coppola's wine back when I went to Northern California; Premier carries a number of Coppola wines (which I can't find in Toronto). I have shopped at the Williamsville location many times, and usually the staff is very kind, respectful, and helpful. But today, I checked out, and was waiting for my friend to check out, the cashier looked down at the boots I was wearing and said "Ankle boots? Ugh, when will that fad end?". It was incredibly insulting, and I am not used to being talked to that way. My friends 21st birthday was today. She was so excited to go into Premier and buy her first bottle of wine. Skipping into the door, dancing down the aisles with joy. Oh what a glorious day and a fun afternoon they would have. The long wait to finally be able to legally buy alcohol was over. We all (her friends) were finally relieved to know that the youngest could finally joint the rest of us to night clubs and have a beer at our favorite bars.... But when she goes through the line and gets out her ID, all ready to purchase with a huge smile on her face, they say she can't go through with the transaction. That they 'can't sell to people on their 21st birthday, only the day after'...... Now she had her passport saying she was 21...today......and yet the manager had to come over and explain how it was not necessarily the company's policy, but that of her own. I wasn't quite aware that managers could deny selling alcohol to people ON their 21st birthdays....that probably because the fact is it's no true. She had to true right to deny a person service on their 21st birthday with proper clearance and being within the rights of the law. Wegman's across the street was mindful and respectful enough to go through with selling her a product that she has rights to purchase, and even on my 21st birthday was I allowed to purchase alcohol at a Fine Wine and Spirit In my area. I can surely say that even I am utterly disrespected by the management at Premier Wine & Spirits in Amherst, and shall not receive my business. P.S. The only reason I'm giving this a 1 is because...there is quite the selection of wines and liquors. read more

Pick a wine, any wine you have ever tasted at a restaurant, seen in a store, commercial, magazine, tv show, THEY HAVE IT. I worked at a restaurant on Long Island and we would carry extremely rare wines that were impossible to find in liquor stores, but guess what, Premier has them of course. Amazing. I'm very disappointed with the customer service from this company. I ordered two bottles of premium wine on 15 Dec. I checked the status four days later and the order was listed as processing, the next day I checked for an update and the order could not be found. I emailed customer service to figure out what was happening, instead of a solution/recommendation for a different item, they simply cancelled my order without notifying me. This is a item I purchased for my father in law for his retirement and Christmas gift. Now five days before Christmas I have to scramble to get something from somewhere else. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Reasons why I love it: -they have the biggest selection of any wine/liquor store I've been in -they have a very friendly staff that is always willing to help you find something -they always are giving out free samples of wine -I enjoy the discounts that I get off of wine/liquor by being a member -they always give you rebates for your wine if any apply (I never end up sending them in but its a nice gesture) -I thoroughly enjoy the gourmet food/beer side of the store as well -they have a cool little chiller up front on your way out if you want your wine/beer/liquor to be cold right away Reasons why I hate it: -it is a huge place and I can never find anything on my own and hate having to constantly look for someone to help me find things -they denied me on my 21ST BIRTHDAY because they "didn't know the exact time I was born" lol k rude. so I went across the street to caputi's liquor instead :) -they have a ton of security standing around grilling you while you check out. The location is always pretty busy, but honestly this is the only place I ever go for my alcohol. It's also a good place to go to for unique gifts! The staff is friendly and helpful. Anytime I come in looking for a special beer, wine or liquor someone is always there to help me! Now let me warn you...you will spend at least two hours, if not longer in this place. There is so much to explore and look at! They offer so many unique things. I could spend all day in here if I had the time. The prices are great, I never go anywhere else for wine except here. This wine and liquor store is absolutely wonderful. Located on Maple in Buffalo, NY right next to delta sonic. During busy hours it may be difficult to get in and out of the parking lot, but overall, fairly convenient location. So they are located adjacent to Premier Gourmet. I believe they are under the same ownership, but not sure... Anyway, this is a wine and liquor warehouse, probably the biggest and best selection of stuff in the buffalo area. They have divided the store into sections. First by region, then by red/white, then by winery. Every major wine region of the world is represented here, along with some not as major regions. A very nicely laid out setup. There is a discount section that offers discounted wines of very nice quality. There is also a special room for the super expensive items including wines, ports, whiskeys, etc. you have to ask an employee to let you into the room though. Towards the back corner are the liquors, liqueurs, and dessert wines. A very nice selection of scotch and bourbon. I don't pay much attention to vodka, gin, or rum so I can't really say much about those, but it appears to have an ample selection as well. Throughout the store you will see little tags for unadvertised sales if you happen to have a premier card. You will save a few bucks if you have a card. The customer service here is top notch. They will take the time to look up what you want and will even call other places to see if they have something that isn't in stock. I have nothing but good things to say about their customer service. Highly knowledgeable folks who are happy to assist you. Overall, this is in my opinion one of the best liquor stores in which I have had the pleasure to step foot. I ordered an Italian wine and had it shipped to California. Pricing was excellent. Shipping was prompt and the condition was excellent. Very well packed. So even though I initially hesitated due to the distance, I am very pleased that I did. I mean - you pay for shipping to California anyway in the price of a bottle. No state tax, so it balances. I really appreciate the fact that it is adjacent to Premier Grocery so you can buy all your beer and mixers too. Sure you have to go through two check out lines, but at least you don't have to drive over to another store. There is an excellent staff picks section that features a variety of recommended wines tailored to several price points. Their best promotion is Double Up for a Buck: you can get two bottles of select wines for only a dollar more than the standard price. They also have a "bottom of the barrel" section with slashed prices - I saw a bottle of wine the their day for $3 with a mail in rebate! There is tons to try and tons to explore, with courteous, expert staff to help you along the way. Also, Premier Gourmet is next door with fresh ground coffee, a deli, kitchen equipment, every craft beer under the sun and more. I definitely recommend visiting next time you need a wine fix. I've tended to go to the smaller liquor stores because those are the ones closest to where I live, but whenever I am in Amherst and need something I try to stop by here. They have every kind of liquor and wine imaginable plus some. They even have one of my favorite Napa Valley wines that I had never seen on the east coast. When it comes to liquors they have all the brands you could want and I especially love that they will carry all the new varieties and flavors that come out so frequently. I love going to premiere. It really is a unique experience. When you first walk in you have the option of going to the left (a remarkable selection of liquor and wine) or to the right which is referred to as premiere's gourmet store. Don't get me wrong, I love liquor and wine but I much rather go right. The gourmet store has a wide selection of Buffalo's best craft beer, a housewares department, an assortment of coffee beans (roasted on premises), an incredible selection of gourmet grocery items, a bakery, and a deli that has some of Buffalo's best artisanal cheeses. Whenever I go into the gourmet store I buy one or two things I've never had before just to experience them. My favorite find so far is Jeni's ice cream--all flavors, all kinds! read more

I will have to admit I preferred the old location over the new location. I think since the move there has been a big change in the staff's attitude. The wine department is great and the staff always greets me and is helpful in helping me find wine and finding new wines and bargains too. I think the cheese department is a shadow of it's former self. I do not think they have the variety of cheeses they used to have, but what is more bothersome is the staff. They never greet me or ask me if I need help. They spend more time gossiping to each other and ignoring customers than they do helping us. It is very sad. I think I really need to find a new place to buy cheese, Honestly I think Wegmans is as good or better than Premier. read more

You "organized" a signing that you were ABSOLUTELY NOT SET to handle. No ropes...no employees outside...no manager...you were worried about "inside" when I called. Not to mention the article said we had to purchase a bottle , at this location, on this day, and show a receipt. We got here and purchased at 10:18am. MIND YOU NO TOCKET OR MENTION OF A TICKET WAS TOLD TO ME........I returned at 1pm...and was given a ticket in the 400's because you decided it was a great idea at NOON to hand them out. Which is 1000% not right. Tickets should have been handed out at the purchase. Not only when I returned at 1---one of your employees were telling people "if you can find a bottle at any store, than you can bring the bottle and get a ticket". And people were buying MULTIPLE BOTTLES at a time. It should have been 1 per person. I called to check up on what is going on as people are bombarding the door (and still no employee in sight) only to be told "we are doing our best " and HUNG UP ON ME. If you cannot handle an event of a celebrity--- then you should NOT have one! And you should NOT be rude to the people who have spent hours upon hours outside who had NO IDEA about the tickets you decided to hand out hours after you opened! Absolute SHIT SHOW! read more

What is there to say about Premier? It's big. They have a large selection. And I've had tolerably decent results when I ask for help. It doesn't usually take too long to find someone to help and they seem fairly knowledgeable about the products in the store. I like that there is a whole variety of size options too, including a section of liquor bottles that are perfect for gifts. I mean, sometimes you want to give somebody a nice bottle of something but you don't want to spend the money for a large bottle. That's when those smaller bottles really come in handy. It's not often that I go in looking for something specific and come out without it. That's pretty much only when I'm looking for something really off the beaten path. On the whole it's a conveniently located store that is sure to meet your needs. Whether you would rather try somewhere smaller first to support smaller businesses is ultimately up to you. Premier does push some of its competition away, so it is worth stopping in somewhere small. But if you stop into Premier you will certainly find what you're looking for. read more
