The pricing is good compared to other places I dropped my dog off clean... note he is a difficult dog to deal with since he's people selective I have left him at a boarding facility three times 4 times with this drop off n pick up and let me tell you my dog was given to me with pee stains on his paws and poop on his butt the pee stains were so bad his paws were red from the irritation he was panting like crazy and crying the whole ride home not sure what happened but will not be returning here wish I would've taken pictures of the stains on his paws but as soon as I got home showered he smelled disgusting the other facilites I've taken him to always gave him back to me clean I'm convinced his kennel wasn't even cleaned properly read more

This facility abused my dogs. We dropped our four medium-sized dogs off for our Christmas trip. I realized I forgot to bring them toys and made a quick trip to Big Lots to get toys for them. We dropped off the new toys. We were gone for 7 days. Two days in, we received an email saying two of our dogs got into a fight. This was unusual because this had never happened with Haylie and Trixie. We were told the pictures were too blurry to send, but we would get pictures the next day. I asked for pictures and received them, but Trixie's face was cut off in both pictures. I suspect our dogs were being neglected and not getting to come out of the kennel. Attached is an email from a staff member saying they were only taken out for 15 minutes a day. My poor dogs were cooped up together all day with no toys and nothing to do but get upset with each other. The new 40 lb bag of dog food was returned with 11 pounds missing. Our dogs weigh 65, 60, 55, and 40 pounds. It sounds like they were underfed, doesn't it? When we picked up our dogs, we received brand-new toys that were not given to our dogs. When we returned, and the dogs calmed down from the excitement of being loved and cared for for the first time in a week, I noticed the huge lump on Trixie's muzzle. When I touched the lump, it was hard, so I opened her mouth and saw her tooth had been beaten in. The next day, we took her to the VCA vet clinic, and the vet confirmed blunt-force trauma. The vet apologized profusely for the terrible situation we found ourselves in by putting our trust in a facility that was supposed to care for our dogs instead of beating them. The vet said it was impossible for one of Trixie's housemates to have caused the injury. Trixie is the largest of our dogs. Now, all four of my dogs act terrified of brooms. Could Trixie have been beaten with a broom handle? It is on the conscience of that facility. Of course, preppy pets shirked responsibility and blamed our dogs, but this is no surprise. It is surprising that they didn't try to say we had never been there, as this is what they typically say to other customers who call them out for their disgusting treatment of fur babies. Preppy Pet West is a dangerous place, and your pet could leave with a severe beating like Trixie. Thank goodness Trixie is doing better now. Her tooth had to be removed, but she has not let that get her down! Houston Humane Society Pearland is amazing; they took care of her surgery. By the way, they confirmed it was from blunt force trauma...go figure. read more

Update: the owner did reach out to assure me she reviewed the cameras and talked to her staff and wasn't aware of any incidents. I really appreciate her reaching out and she never once asked me to take down my review or revise/retract it so just goes to show she was genuine. I unfortunately cannot deny the fact that something is wrong with my little pup after his stay. I'd like to be fair though and say i don't see what happens behind closed doors while he's boarding so I can't say with 100% the root cause of his ailment (whether self-inflicted or otherwise). As stated below just be cautious and do your best to monitor your pet on their provided cams. __________________________________________________________ Been using this service for quite a while now but management or the care takers must have changed. Had a couple of boardings in the recent months and during one month my pup had a gash on his head upon return. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe he scraped himself in the cage on accident or something so treated the wound and gave them another chance. On the most recent incident upon return of my pet I realize one of the caretakers must have abused my pup pretty badly as he was limping slightly and now is scared to be touched at all whimpering and running for the corner at the slightest touch. One visit for daycare was enough. Background: Have sent my dog to other daycares on a weekly basis for the last year and a half. Just moved across town and was looking for a new place to send our pup for daycare, boarding, and grooming. Was lured by the extremely cheap prices 10 bucks for a full day daycare! I am used to paying about ~30/day. Turns out you get exactly what you pay for. If I didn't know any better I'd say they stuck my dog in a cage all day. And he smelled like he laid in pee all day. I am used to picking up a smelly dog from dirt, dog slobber, outside, etc., but this was not smell from 'play'. Lastly , pup came home with no noticeable dip in energy. Used to him coming home and being noticeably low-energy. Im not mad that he wasn't tuckered out, it Just added to my suspicion that the daycare is more of a kennel club than free play. Maybe others have had better experiences but this isn't the place for my pup. Pros: Super duper cheap Staff seemed nice. Website seemed good Free week of daycare apparently Cons: I think we have a different idea of what dog daycare is. Cameras weren't readily accessible so I wasn't able to check on and see what they were up to throughout the day. End of the day, I won't even be using the complimentary week of daycare they give to new customers because they place just feels a little janky. read more

You also described your facility as previously a child care center that you converted to a pet facility, so trust me, this was your facility and staff. Second to everyone reading this thread - the owners post is indicative of their culture and treatment to customers / pets. I am sure she "likes" animals, but this place is definitely business first. Just look at the immediate defensive posturing, lack of apology (in any sense, even if the reply was "we didn't find any record of your pet / name, and this behavior does not seem like us or how we treat customers, but I would like to personally apologize if you had a bad experience."), or anything except deflecting the issue again. I took my dog to Preppy Pet in Bear Creek for Labor Day weekend. He was a healthy dog who was fine when I dropped him off. When I picked my dog up ton Tuesday, they claimed that he had just thrown up that morning and had to give him a bath. My dog did not seem well, so I took him to the vet the next day. The vet said it looked like he got into something and had toxins. They tried to save him, but he did not make it. My dog died less than 2 days after being boarded there. I would not recommend Preppy Pet to my worst enemy. No one should have to pick their pet up from boarding and have them pass away 2 days later. If my dog was sick, they have my phone number and could've contacted me at any point, they did not. As. You can see by the attached pictures, this is the condition I picked my dog up in. My regular boarder was booked to capacity - I dropped off my baby the morning before leaving the country (thanksgiving weekend, they at first REFUSED to let me see where he'd be sleeping, and refused his furry bed (finally conceding), I almost walked out with my bosley. I explained he's 100% DEAF and Partially blind, his fluffy bed is his security blanket I'll be taking my dog to Vet ASAP in the morning for diagnosis of THREE PUNCTURE WOUNDS to his face. Also the left side of his face was covered in blood or something disgusting that stained his 'normal pure white' beautiful face. His bed, collar, and face reeked of Urine!!! And were DIRTY! !!! Our 85lb pooch is 100% DEAF and blind in one eye. I've rescued for 30yrs. My 2 1/2 yr is amazing with other pooches (regardless of their size/temperament) and gets along with all of my neighbourhood pooches, in addition to his two pooch siblings. Might I add I was informed the minute I arrived to pick up my furry baby at the reception desk that he was amazing, staff favourite and was loving in addition to great with other pets. His bed STANK FROM URINE, I demanded to know why, I demanded to why his face had puncture wounds (I have photos). The "OWNER" rudely kept asking me to bring Bosley back inside. I refused and said, you come to my car and look at his face. I me not bringing him back in here. She AND her receptionist - never offered to come to my car and review his wounds. When i complained about the skanky smelling urine and blood that stained his face I was literally told. NO JOKE, they seriously said his face is dirty from his drool, relaying to the way he was sleeping.... WHAT??? His pure white embroidered "DEAF DOG"collar was soooooo dirty, we washed it and his stinking Urine Bed the second we got home! "I will be contact ASAP the prrofessional business standards review board" and relaying my entire experience with this sham of a company. If Bosley had just been bathed that morning. 1) He stank of Urine 2)His white collar was a DISGUSTING shade of "I dread to think" and the D-Ring buckles were rusty (brand new collar.... We had recently adopted a new puppy and had already planned a vacation with friends. Although I was nervous leaving our new puppy Lola at a dog care place I read good reviews and trusted she would be ok. I am glad we did go with this place, they post videos of your pet and you can call anytime to check on them. Lola did great there, I only assume this because dogs always tell you how they feel depending on how they act after you pick them up. If I could leave no stars I absolutely would. My experience with Preppy Pet started out great. I called and spoke with the front desk rep and she answered all my questions and was very helpful. She seemed very attentive and made me feel as though I could trust this place to care for my puppy. I dropped my puppy off at 8AM for a trial day, the front desk rep reassured me that this day would strictly be a day to see how my puppy does and if she liked it there. She told me that as long as I pick her up NO LATER than 6:30PM there would be no issues. I asked one more time before leaving "6:30?" She said "yes 6:30" and wrote it on one of their business cards and handed it to me. I left with the card and planned my entire day to make sure I was there at 6PM to make sure I was not late picking her up. Next thing I know, I get a call from Preppy Pet at 4:20PM and they are telling me unfortunately because I did not pick my dog up at 4PM they will be keeping her and she will not be released to me until Monday morning at the earliest. I told them they must be mistaken because I was told twice that morning that I needed to be there at 6:30PM to pick her up. I was told that unfortunately this information was wrong and they're not sure who told me that but the policy states other wise. They told me I was not going to get my dog and there was no possible way for me to get her until Monday, I became very upset and very worried for my dog, she has separation anxiety and does not do well over night in other environments, she also has a very sensitive stomach and I did not send enough food to get her through the week because I obviously was not anticipating her staying over night - EVER. They kept telling me about the policy and that I was not going to pick her up...over my dead body, my dog was picked up and is now home with me, safe. It is outrageous that this even happened. Regardless of the policy this was their mistake, as a company that claims to care about the pets they watch on a daily basis they should have happily waited for me to get there to get my dog without issues, instead I had to fight with them over the phone for 20 minutes, praying in my head and desperately hoping I was going to get my dog back tonight. Had they not released her I happily would have gotten the police involved because they had no right to do this. On top of all that, I sent her with the exact amount of food she needed to make it through the day, she is still a puppy so she eats 3x a day, the bag they sent back with her was still over half way full, she had barely ate anything all day. When I got her home she was gulping down her water, two full bowls of water in only a couple of minutes. I have never seen her like this. When she was picked up she was clawing at the door to leave, I have never seen her act like this either. I never leave reviews on any sites but this was absolutely unacceptable. My dog is my baby, I love and care for her as if she was a child. It breaks my heart to know that I left her with these people. I will never use or try a daycare again because of this. If you love your animals the way I do, I beg you not to leave your pet here. If you want to know the kind of people these people are, just read their replies to the reviews left. They take no type of responsibility and continue to argue with unhappy customers, instead of looking within their company to fix these issues. I typically don't believe everything I see online, which is why I gave this place a try, but I can confidently say that every bad review I see on here and on Google is more than 100% true and accurate. The customer service of this facility is trash! I made reservation a week before my trip online but still had to call to verify it. I inquired about shots that were listed and decided to go in face to face to speak with someone. The person I spoke with during the visit was polite and answered my questions about what to expect. I got the bortella shot for my dog and was told I could sign a waiver for the other two shots listed as they were recommended and not required. I paid the $20 and turned in the admission paperwork. I asked again before leaving was there anything other than toys, food and her bed that I need to take care of. The front desk person looked through the paper and said we are all good. Come Monday morning to drop off my dog on the way to Dallas and the person at the desk pointed a notice taped to the counter and said my dog cannot stay without the another shot. I asked was there someone besides her that I can speak with and she just stood there and looked at me and said my dog cannot stay. This is the day of with my bags packed this person! I normally don't write bad reviews, but this one needs to be done. My 10 week old puppy started doggie daycare on Monday instead of staying in a crate all day while I'm at work. He was hesitant to go into the room, so the tech used his foot to kick and push him in until he finally was in the room. Today, the same male tech kicked another dog, hard enough for her to fall over. I of course call after seeing it on the camera, with my blood boiling, and they tell me the manager will "review the cameras." The manager didn't return the call but the receptionist called back 14 minutes later to say they wouldn't call it a "kick" but the tech did what he did so she wouldn't run out of the room. Whether a dog is not wanting to go into the room or wanting to "escape" why are you kicking them? How is that an excuse? Use your hands to gently pick the dog up. Later in the day there were two dogs fighting and a lady comes running in, hitting & smacking the dog to break it up. If you don't have the patience to work with animals & all the different types of personalities they have, simply don't work with them!!! Abuse is unacceptable & my baby boy definitely won't be returning here. After reading all of the reviews, I'm sure they will come up with an excuse to this review. I took my 4 month old Pomeranian for grooming and daycare, I got multiple calls with issues and eventually a call saying a dog had pinned him outside - so how bad was it because you had to call me? And why the hell did you have a 4 month old puppy with other grown dogs? Since I've had him home he is struggling to swallow and having acid reflux, and has thrown up twice. Who checked him? Was this a vet that I can refer to and receive documentation of the check to affirm he was ok? When I got called I was told "he's ok just shaken up and scared". He had none of these problems prior to, and was just at his vet last Saturday with a clean checkup. This was my FIRST time at Preppy Pet, and I made this clear trusting that a 4 month old puppy would be taken care of. As a first time guest this was horrible customer service and experience. Maybe they had too many dogs and not enough staff - but not my problem because now I have a sick puppy. 1. No one asked me for his medicine which I had brought 2. There wasn't any information provided about cameras - with this incident maybe that's why I couldn't have access I was called first to say he couldn't stay for daycare because he was "Too small" (so do they not get puppies), then was called to say a dog had pinned him during a bathroom break. Had I known he would be with other dogs bigger than him and not other puppies I would have never brought him to this business. I was referred by another client and highly disappointed, and now in result I have a sick dog - and despite all of that I still paid full price without receiving the new client discount they promote on their website. I've been bringing my two huskies( Rex and Tina ) for almost 3 years I would say . I have boarded them many times. Sometimes they stay for 3 weeks , and others for a shorter period of time . And every time I come pick up my dogs , they seem to want to stay! Whenever we drop them off to preppy pet they get super excited as well ! I mean this is a sign of how much they are well treated or else they would most definitely have a different reaction to when I take them there. the staff are super friendly , and the owner is attentive as well . Do not take your dog here!! We have been going there for almost a year and it's been great until here recently, I picked my dog up on Wednesday after a long day at daycare. When we got in the car he was covered in dirt, was crying, and shaking. Once I got him home and bathed him he was covered in bite marks and bleeding. I will never take him back I don't know what recently changed but I will not take my dog, who is my child, to a place that he is scared of and gets injured and no one takes care of them and watches them to make sure things like this don't happen. read more

Despite all of the bad reviews, Preppy pet is wonderful! I have been taking my puppy, Pluto here for a few months and have always received great service. I understand that customer service is a difficult Job, so everyone should realize that. My puppy is very energetic, but none of the employees have complained about him, which I really appreciate. Every day after I pick up Pluto from day care, he is very happy and tried. This location is great, clean, affordable and I will continue to bring my puppy here. I love this place. I came here first because I purchased a Groupon and it was great because it was on the way out of town to Austin. But now, I come because they take such great care of my dog. Let me be clear... this place is NOT close to where I live, but the piece of mind knowing my dog is being taken care of while I'm away is worth the drive. The place is always clean and I like that they actively advertise touring the facilities which is very uncommon for this type of business. When you walk in there's a window where can see the dogs and the facilities - they are all well-kept and clean. I've also had my dogged groomed here before and he looked great both times. Small conveniences like online booking is also helpful when I don't have a lot of time to make a phone reservation. Additionally, the service is great. They respond with an email confirmation and say things like " we can't wait to see Mr. Furley (dog's name)" and they remember us when we check-in. I would wholeheartedly recommend Preppy Pet West Houston for anyone needing a place for day or overnight boarding. Five stars for me!!! read more

ADVANCE NOTICE LONG POST...This is what we came home from Vacation from the doggie day care which we have been using since we got Shylo a year ago. Never had problems until yesterday. They groomed him yesterday & when we picked him up this is what we saw. We showed the owner & she said it may be from the soap getting in his eye so put some eyedrops or gel tears (whatever that is)..but when I took him in to the sunlight it was not from soap. I took him back in & she came outside with me & said OH WOW I dont know what could have happened. So we took him back in and I asked to speak to the groomer/Cordell as she asked him what happened he said he was not like that after he finished with him but he did Yup when he was grooming him by his belly. However every time the groomer will go toward Shylo he would flinch. now everybody else went towards him he didn't flinch and he has never flinched before at any of the places I took him to get groomed or even here before. So I told him you going to make me hand this dog over to the lady and is gonna be me and you. So she called her technician to look at his eyes and the technician said a could be from stress since hes not used to that groomer and all his blood went towards his head and he coulda popped a blood vessel. I told her I may have to take him to a vet. So we went to Petco and Petsmart and they both said something happened and they didn't want to give me any of their medications over the counter because it can make it worse or blind him, so take him to a vet. THEY WAS VERY SYMPATHETIC. The vet said it looks like it comes from strangulation whenever groomers groom dogs they put at least around there neck so they wont squirm but they not suppose to strangle them. so we walk out the bet with medicine & a bill of 176.00. We went back to the daycare & gave her the bill & the doctor notes & showed her Shylo because once the dr put the medication in his eye & he didn't flinch not one time with the doctor assistant or the doctor who he just met, his eye started clearing up. She said I see. I told her that I wanted her to pay for the vet bill. She said she couldn't pay for the vet bill because in their contract they don't pay for vet Bill's even though it happened in their care but she would reimburse me for his groomy & his stay, so I was out $60 when it was all said & done & she was very apologetic BUT OUR FUR BABY WILL NOT BE GOING BACK THERE AGAIN. read more

DO NOT SUGGEST THIS PLACE FOR ANYONE'S PET! I left my dog here over the weekend, from Friday until Monday. From the moment i dropped him off, i called and called and called every single day to no avail. I left messages and never received any call backs. I did not even enjoy my trip bc I knew in my heart that something was wrong. On Sunday, i received a call from Preppy Pup asking me if i noticed that my dog was not putting any weight on his back leg. Of course i responded no, becaise i did not bring him there in that condition. When i picked him up, i was told by a Technician that "some dogs do this for attention". Took him to the vet, turns out his leg was broke. He had a fracture to his tibia and required surgery. The fracture was soooo bad that it would not heal on its own and according to the orthopedic specialist, his fracture was from trauma. He was either hit or kicked by someone. His X-Rays were over $600 dollars and his surgery was well over $4,000. I am planning on getting a lawyer. DO NOT BRING YOUR BELOVED PET HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY. And trust me, this is not over. read more

Came to give my dog a cut a few days ago. I think the one thing this place needs to learn is that first impressions are everything. One of the first things you smell before you even walk in is the stench of old poop and pee. Which, yes i know is going to be there somewhat, but my god this was terrible. Then the actual boarding area for day care was so plain and looked depressing. There are many other puppy boarding centers that are so much better than this one. One of the dogs had pooped and the mop that was used, basically smeared the poop on the floor and then she used that same mop without rinsing it to wipe three more areas of pee and poop. I got my dog back and he smelled like old pee and poop. Haircut was great, just sucked the conditions weren't better. Wont be coming back sadly. read more

At the last minute I needed to board my sons maltipoo. We were flying out to his University for Orientation and at the last minute the person who was going to keep him left town. I googled pet boarding at preppy pet popped up first. I went to their website and made a reservation request. As soon as they opened I called to requested a spot for Prince. The lady who answered the phone was so polite, professional and accommodating. She even stayed on the phone to ensure she received the email that contained his shot records. Upon arrival Prince was not thrilled to be dropped off. The staff made his transition go smoothly. Laura was is awesome and assisted my son and ensured my son had everything he needed to check up on his puppy. I would recommend this location to any and everyone. read more

We always use this facility to board our dogs. We have a very fearful dog but he loves to go here.

My dog loves day care. The staff is nice and treats my baby so good. Hours are very convenient.

My dog and I have been to Preppy Pet 3 times now. We are very happy with their service. Always very nice people and they do a good job.

I won't be coming back. I pay for a departure bath every time and he comes home covered in piss and stinking to hell. No money back for the "bath"? I'm literally wet with piss this is ridiculous. DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. My dog has stayed here twice. The first time was for three days and everything seemed okay. She was fine but just smelled very bad (I already knew that this was going to happen due to her being around other dogs) so there was no problems, this is usual stuff. But then the second time, she stayed with them for 9 days because we went on vacation in May. When I picked her up I automatically noticed bright red sores in between two of her toes on the back feet and I immediately asked what happened and if they noticed it. The front desk lady didn't know anything about it so she called an employee that works directly with them. He said that she was jumping on the fence a lot in her kennel and that's why it was red. So I just said okay whatever because she seemed perfectly normal. PAID $260 & Left. Then when I get home that's when I saw a dime sized HOLE in my dog's front paw. I look closer and it's oozing pus and was not there before I dropped her off. She also had a scratch on one of her legs that she had that had dried blood and some of her fur around it was missing. I was PISSED. I called back up there demanding an explanation and why I wasn't notified. The lady on the phone knew about the wounds, just kept apologizing and trying to talk her way out of it. I hung up the phone, took her to the vet and had to buy stuff to clean the wounds and cover them. My dog can not walk outside with a hole on her foot. If I could give them ZERO stars I would. You should've called me and let me know what was going on with my dog. This isn't just a dog, she is like my child and when I drop her off there and pay all of this money, I expect her to come back in the same condition. It seemed like y'all knew she had these wounds and wanted to just let her slip out of the door like nothing happened. If I would've saw this when I was there, y'all knew that I wasn't going to pay a dime and each person would've gotten cussed out. The customers trust y'all to take care of their dog with the upmost care and attention. I really do want my money back but I already knew that probably wasn't going to happen when I got home. This is not a place that I would recommend to anyone. If you want your dog to be really cared for then do not come here. Y'all messed with the wrong one. read more
