I am somewhat neurotic about dental hygiene as I think the mouth is literally the gateway to one's health and beauty. I am very happy with the quality of care and experience at Prescott Dental Center. They have amazing hygienists, one doesn't feel anxious because of the focus and detail of the staff. Dr Chesser is incredibly knowledgeable yet takes his time with his patients. He diagnosed a tooth problem two other dentists couldn't. I am very happy with PDC and hope you give them a try. Also this is a newly owned practice and the ratings don't reflect the myriad changes of the new Doctor. New staff, new equipment, new, amazing experience. Who likes going to the dentist? I surely don't. But today, I had to get cavities between two adjoining teeth drilled and filled. I haven't had dental work done in years and I was dreading my appointment. Let me cut to the chase: I hardly felt the injection and there was no pain at all. First they numb your gums with local stuff. Then Dr. Chesser injects the anesthesia just barely below the gum surface. He waits about two minutes, and leaves you to watch the 4k scenic pictures on the tv. Then he comes back to inject the rest of the anesthesia to where it's supposed to go. The rest of the procedure was quick and easy for me; I was just laid back. He was pleasant enough and conversational before he started working. And I appreciate he didn't carry on the conversation and expecting me to answer with my mouth open. I also had my teeth cleaned here before which was how they found out I had cavities. The cleaning was state of the art and thorough. I also got the standard new toothbrush, dental floss, and toothpaste. I was angling for a lollipop or a jaw breaker, or even just a churro afterwards. But no such luck. They do give you a rose to take home. I told my wife it's a very expensive rose that I got her but it came with free dental work. read more

Overcharged and until we received our Explanation of Benefits from insurance, we weren't informed. I had to call, repeatedly do the math with Anna over the phone, she finally found where they had billed for two exams instead of one. 3 business days later, still waiting on Anna to call back and refund. Update: Started calling 9/20 - finally resolved after much frustration and arguing on 9/24. Will not be going back and will certainly not recommend to ANYONE. In fact I'm spreading the word where I work and to my friends - unconcerned office staff don't have any sense of urgency once they've got hold of your money. read more

This dentist came highly recommended from a friend at work. I wish I had shopped around more. I wanted to try sedation dentistry because I always have problems with the Novocaine wearing off during dental procedures. After being given what I am assuming is an excessive amount of sedative, and after completing a fairly lengthy procedure, the office staff called my ride to come pick me up. When my ride (my 82-year-old grandmother) arrived at the office I was unconscious in the dentist's chair. When she questioned whether it was safe to take me home the dentist told her to just splash some water on my face or slap my face a little and I would come around. When they got me to "come to" and asked me to stand, I could not do so on my own....or even very well assisted. So, they put me in a wheelchair and rolled me out to the car. Again, she questioned whether it was safe to take me home and asked how she and my 89-year-old grandfather were to get me out of the car and into the house. At which point the dentist told her if it was necessary she could LEAVE ME IN THE CAR!!!! Are you kidding me?!?!?! At what point during patient care did I go from being a patient to being treated no better than a DOG?!?! I must point out that I don't remember any of this event (or about 90% of the day for that matter) and this is the story as it was told to me by my grandmother. Had I been aware of what was happening I would have certainly had words to say at that moment, they are very lucky I was not in my right mind at the time!! I would recommend to anyone considering using this dentist for sedation dentistry to strongly reconsider!! If you MUST go there, please have a person who will stand up for your CARE when they pick you up and not be forced to take you home when they are not comfortable doing so!!!! It is my opinion that this dentist places more value on the money sitting in the chair than the patient being treated in the chair. I feel like they were pushing me out quickly because most likely I was taking up a space needed for the next few hundred dollars to line their pockets!!! read more

First, these folks waste your time. Make an appointment for an "exam" and they will make you come back another day to get your teeth cleaned. Why not do it when we've already taken time off work to come see you in the first place? They REFUSE to do it on the same appointment. SECOND - and MOST IMPORTANT: Daughter needed her wisdom teeth pulled. They overcharged us two weeks before the procedure, we had to argue with them to refund the difference of $160. Took several days for them to refund. Then, during the procedure, the Dentist argued with assistants the entire time about them not doing their job right, maybe he thought my daughter couldn't hear them! Then they gave her a Capri Sun when the procedure was over - NO STRAWS after a procedure is a something even us laymen know. They handed her over to us, barely able to walk, then told us they'd call to make her follow up appointment with us. Never received a call. Never followed up with us or saw her again. Then to add insult to injury, we received our Explanation of Benefits from the insurance company and they had still overcharged us. It's taken several days, many phone calls, me going into the dentist - and being kicked out for saying that it was like "pulling freaking teeth" to get our money back. Dentist was rude, condescending, office manager is a waste of space and has no customer service skills what so ever. Only nice folks were the hygienist and front desk lady. As another review said, Dr. Spurgeon is arrogant and condescending. Has NO bedside manner. Had no sympathy for my pain after an extraction. I had a bad reaction to a mild pain medication he prescribed and he would not even call me back(I called twice) to change it. I will not be going back. read more

Dr Spurgeon is very rude. I had zero tooth pain, I get regular cleaning/checkups and I take care of my teeth. He decided that I needed 3 fillings. The procedure was awful. I have had HORRIBLE tooth pain since. When I called to get in and find out why I was in pain they couldn't get me in for TWO WEEKS. I went to a different dentist and wound up needing to get my wisdom tooth pulled because of the horrible filling he did. They don't care and never responded to my issue. read more

they hosted a charity even for low income adults and advertised it everywhere saying it was from 8 am to 3 pm. so many people were taking off work to get there early and were turned away because they only had "26" spots. they failed to put that on their advertisements and put so many people out. the lady on the phone was rude and they didn't care how many people they falsely led. would highly NOT RECOMMEND. read more

In a nutshell, I am appalled at the way I was treated by Dr. Spurgeon and his staff. The doctor is condescending and arrogant, I was ripped off for forty dollars when I found out the x-rays I had transferred to another dentist were useless. I was quoted $750 for a fairly routine teeth cleaning, not a deep clean. Lastly, the doctor hasn't returned one of my phone calls to discuss these matters. We will be moving to Denver soon from Prescott. As a result, yesterday was my last cleaning appointment at Prescott Dental Center. I can't leave without updating my review and telling folks out there how wonderful the dental staff are. Dr. Spurgeon's skillful hands and wide experience performed miracles on my poorly neglected teeth starting 4 1/2 years ago. I have returned faithfully every six months to continue caring for my new found healthy teeth and gums. Credit also goes to hygienist, Janice, the kindest and most gentle person I have ever experienced cleaning my teeth. And friendly Ana, who works the front desk and office affairs-always has a kind word. I'm a real baby when it comes to going to the dentist. I told Dr. Spurgeon on my first visit, and he and the entire staff understood and were so caring. Thank you all! Bad news. No manners, no class really full of himself. I always refuse to sign the financial agreement forms many professionals give you. You effectively sign away all your rights with this form. It is a major reason that medical bills are the cause of over 50% of bankruptcies. Most professionals allow one to cross out the offending clauses. Not this very small king of his hill. He REQUIRED me to sign if I wanted to use him. This , when I was paying cash. Power freak??? Real easy decision. read more

This Dentist was so rude and full of himself! I had an awful experience in his office and when I told him he threatened to call the police! His office staff are so kind and caring, but when you get to him he is a full on a..hole! I've never been spoken to in such a rude and unkind way by ANY medical person in my life! He told me how he was in such demand and so busy that he didn't need new patients! I implore you not to waste your time and money on this fool! I called to make a new patient appointment and spoke to Amber. She was rude and didn't have much info to share. I went to the appointment hoping she wasn't a reflection of the office. Amber turned out to be my dental assistant for the day, she wasnt nice, seemed like she didn't want to be there. I asked if she liked her job and the doctor. She said it was "alright" and he was "nice sometimes". While waiting for my exam by the Doctor I could over hear her gossiping with the office manager about another employee. It wasn't good things. Had my wisdom tooth and a molar pulled. Dr. Spurgeon was fantastic. Super gentle and explained everything he was doing. I felt nothing. No pressure, no pain. Even afterwards. Although my review is less than timely, it is no less heartfelt. Dr Spurgeon and his staff are absolutely wonderful. I am new to the area and had not yet found a dentist comparable to my dentist back in CA and so had been making 450 mile trips back and forth for my dental care. That is until the Christmas holidays when I broke not one, but two teeth and swallowed (yes swallowed!) the crowns attached late on a Friday evening. I called just about every dentist in the area trying desperately to get in and not a one returned my call. That is until I called Dr Spurgeon's office on Saturday. I was put through to his answering service and thought, "oh gosh another false lead". But to my absolute shock, within a matter of five minutes Dr Spurgeon himself texted me back and told me to come in first thing the following Monday and he would see me. I was shocked as I have never had a dentist take the time to text me on a weekend (and as a new patient whom he had never seen before that was even more surprising). To say I was impressed is an understatement. The following Monday I went to his office and was immediately met with a warm smile and a welcome from Anna at the front desk. I filled out the necessary paperwork and was then taken back to see Dr Spurgeon. He was very professional and caring and explained what needed to be done to fix my problems. He did not try to sell me on any unnecessary treatments, but rather helped me to fix the problems at hand. Although the holidays were coming up, he fit me in to get temporary crowns on both teeth so that I could at least enjoy my Christmas dinner (LOL). I must say he has an excellent chair side manner and some of the best hands in the business. After the holidays. I came back for the permanent crowns and they look amazing. He not only found the exact color match but also fit them perfectly. I now plan to be a regular customer and am very glad I will no longer have to drive 450 miles each way for my dental needs! I would highly recommend Dr Spurgeon and his staff to anyone looking for superior dental care. They are the absolute best in the business. read more
