I reached out to Prescription Pest after a poor experience with a different pest company. With the other company, it was clear that their main expertise and goal is funneling people into their annual services contract. Prescription Pest was a fresh air of relief. When I called them, Marybeth, owner and certified entomologist, answered the phone. She actually gave me useful info about our carpenter ants problem. Daniel, the other owner, was the one that inspected our house thoroughly, including the roof and attic. When he came to do the treatment, I told him that we have actually stopped seeing the ants in the past several days. He suggested that we wait a week BEFORE doing any treatment, in case our previous treatment (with the other company) started working. I'll be using and recommending them for any future needs. When we replaced some drywall, we noticed some holes in the paper backing to our vapor barrier that we were advised might be termites. We set up an appointment with Rx Pest to come out and take a look. The technician (Daniel) was on time for the appointment and let us know 30 minutes before he would arrive. After taking a look around the house, he told us that the holes might have been made by silverfish, and that there was no evidence of termite damage or anything he would consider conducive conditions. When I asked what the charge would be, he told me that if I did not need a report written up, it would be free! I couldn't believe it! Super nice folks, prompt, competent, and took the time to explain what was going on. If we need pest control services in the future, we'll definitely give them a call. read more

I noticed a bug in my new house, so I started looking for a pest control company. I remembered that RxPest had done a termite inspection for me before I bought the house, so I called them up to see if they also did pest control. Even though they didn't answer my call, they called back within an hour after I left them a voice message, which impressed me. They even agreed to come out to service my house the very next day. They gave me a 2-hour window (2-4 pm) and said they would call me 30 mins ahead of their arrival time to allow me to rush home from work to be there. Sure enough, Beth, the service technician, called me at 3:15 the next day and said she was 30 mins away. Perfect! True to her word, she rang the doorbell at 3:45, just minutes after I had come home from work. At this point, I was really impressed with their professionalism and timeliness. Now, on to the pest control service itself. Beth was very energetic, friendly, and eager to answer any questions. She quickly diagnosed a scouple of problem areas involving carpenter ants and took care of that problem. Then, after seeing a new fire ant mound that had developed overnight, she told me about their 12-month guaranteed fire ant prevention application. I said, "Sign me up!" because I hate those little guys. Beth then sprayed her bug spray stuff throughout the interior of the house and her fire ant spray all over the front and back yards. The whole thing took about an hour, which is what she had estimated at the beginning. Since she left I haven't seen any bugs whatsoever inside or outside the house. Even the mosquitos are staying away. It's amazing. I'm so glad I called these guys. Being bug-free is a wonderful thing. I will continue to use them in the future to keep it this way! read more

This happened a year ago, I think I would forget but I still think about it from time to time and feel awful. I will share just so hopefully you won't be treated the same way. Xavier from this company came to repair a bracket chewed up by rodents. The same bracket was placed by another pest control company a year ago. He did inspection and said would replace bracket and install iron mesh. But his ladder wasn't strong enough. So we even carried our big ladder over from another house. Then on the second day Xavier cancelled on me at the property because his partner didn't show up, the partner had the drill and he couldn't do it without drills. Nothing was done, I have to drive a long way to meet him each time. But he was polite, apologized and we were okay with scheduling it again in a few days (on a Sunday) We reached good terms and departed separately. Nothing was done though, that was just showing up and canceling and rescheduling. Then Sunday when I drove a long way to the property, he texted and cancelled and said weather was not good. Then I texted and said "okay, reschedule?" No response. I tried to call again, No response. This kept on getting pushed back, first time no materials, ladder too small. We carried our big ladder over.Then, second time, no partner no drills, I drove there already but cancelled last minute. Third time, weather is not good, cancelled last minute. Xavier then never picked up the phone again. This is a horrible way to treat customer, each time getting nothing done, no respect to other people's time, can't keep a promise, and we spent a lot of time driving back and forth to this property. NOT an honest company. Look for second opinions! We had inspection done by technicians of RX Pest. I give them one star, not because there is no option for zero, but because I did find them polite when they came in. Sadly though, after they giggled for about 20 minutes on the back patio doing nothing and slacking off, they came back inside and left, without much talk or any explanations, other than a "goodbye" and "have a nice day." Next thing we know, they sent an estimate for termite treatment for $1,500. The proof for a need for termite treatment was a picture of a fire ants' nest by the house. Uh, really!? It would've been (we didn't pay for this scam) quite pricey for general pest control, and on the extremely high end for termites' treatment, if we really had termites. I guess, being a small company, they do need the business, but sometimes being honest will bring you more customers and happier ones, too. I'm not saying they wouldn't have done a good job. After the treatment we were going to be termite-free, just like before it and the fire ants would've died from that treatment too, but why was it necessary to "upgrade" the fire ants to termites? read more

We've been using Prescription Pest since we first bought our house in 2016. (After first calling out a well-known, national, big company to get an estimate on helping with the rats the previous owners had as upstairs neighbors in the attic, once this company tried to sell me on a thousand dollar or so termite treatment I knew there had to be a better option, and there was!). I love that Prescription Pest is a local, family owned and operated company. The first year of service with them they took care of the rats in the attic as well as all the cockroaches and other bugs in the house (previous owners did not seem to be bothered by pests). Recently we had them back out to do another interior/exterior application to combat bugs and I was happy to see that they're starting to get bigger and hire in some new workers (previously it had only been members of the family that had come out to do the work at our house). The first person who came had recently finished training and took more trips to my house than seemed necessary, but the company sent a more experienced person out to finish the job and volunteered not to charge for several trips. In terms of service, Prescription Pest delivered a five-star experience. We moved into a new place and it quickly became clear there was a roach problem. Michelle got in touch with me the same day that my landlady contacted the company. She helped me ID what kind of roaches we were dealing with and got me an appointment ASAP. The guy who came out to do the treatment (Daniel, I believe) was prompt, personable and answered a ton of questions for me, which I really appreciated. If the number of dead roaches we're seeing is any indication (even weeks after the fact!) whatever he used was quite effective. Two minor caveats to those five stars: it's only been a couple weeks since treatment so I can't vouch for how long it'll keep the bugs at bay, and I can't speak to their prices since my landlady paid. I bought a home, and didn't know a thing about pest control companies. Over and over, many companies I called wanted to kinda of scare me into a long contract or were priced crazy expensive. My thoughts about that crap was, "If you're so great at bug killing, why would I need a contract and visit every month?" I finally found Prescription Pest! They explained about different services, different pests, different chemicals, stuff safe for us and animals, tricks I could do, AND NO CONTRACT! During the time I owned my home, they kept all regular pests away. They also helped during the Flea Invasion of 2011. (That event did need a couple of repeat visits, but we were able to reclaim our land and home in a short time.) Now, they've rescued us from the Fruit Fly Invasion of 2016. Understandably, each pest control issue varies and needs different kinds of attention and visit numbers...HOWEVER, these people are badass. They are professional, local/family owned, cost reasonable, don't sell crap I don't need, no contacts, on time, safe around humans and pets while beating back the invading forces!
