I am so happy I gave Black Powder a try. Their coffees are very good. I have tried 5 different beans/roasts they have all been very good, and they were all roasted just a few days before I bought them. I make a lot of espresso drinks, and bean freshness is a big factor in the quality and flavor with espresso. I may try some other locals here and there, but I am a Black Powder customer for life.

The Cold Mountain was also amazing, to me, it was the perfect iced coffee. The special this week was the Iced Coconut- it actually really tasted like coconut!My husband tried the drip and pour over- he's a black coffee drinker and loved them both- he loved that you can select different beans to try. I also purchased a 5 pound bag of my favorite bean- the Parkway Pick Me Up. Also love the Squirrely Blend. We also got the smaller 12oz bags to try a few different flavors when we get home. As I walked up i instantly noticed the beautiful aroma of roasting coffee beans, and it only gets better the close you get. I stopped by just to pick up a bag of beans, and literally watches them load the beans into the package I was purchasing. It also might be cheaper to get your beans here, as there is no middle man retailer, I'm not sure what a bag might sell for elsewhere, but it was $12 for a 12oz bag of Black Hat whole beans. If you like local coffee, definitely worth stopping by!

"Your cortado", in the most unenthusiastic tone you could think of. Got my drink and it was a shot of espresso with foam on top. That's it. They have great reviews here, so maybe I came in on a bad day, but I'll never be back. I'll stick with Summit at Wilmore.
