Recently my 2017 Mazda CX-5 (100K miles) was making a noise coming from the rear of the car. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the differential, a very costly part! Pak explained the issue thoroughly, and coincidentally they had another customer's car being repaired for the same problem. He showed me the busted gears in this other car and after my repair, which was done promptly, he showed me the faulty seal that caused my differential to sh-t the bed!!! I also had the tranny serviced, spark plugs changed, belt tensioner & belts replaced. Several of these services were suggested and quoted by the local Mazda Dealer several months prior at a much higher cost. Pack was able to fix my right door lock after I was told by the Chevrolet dealer that I needed new lock actuators on my 2004 GTO. When you ask Pak for work. Make sure you tell him EXACTLY what you want done and not do ANYTHING else. Do not let him sucker you into fixing other shit. For example. If you go in for an oil change and he recommends changing belts. DONT DO IT. I asked him to change valve seals and charged me 3800$ for pulling out motor, changing rad hoses, clutch master cylinder and other non-necessary items. His excuse? "They were old." He scammed me into thinking the motor needed to be removed to change valve seals to fix my oil burning issue and took months to fix. The car still burns oil. It's a guessing game for him. He really doesn't know what he's doing. Ask for a second opinion before having him work on your car. read more

Being broke down stuck on the NJ Parkway, one of the most important things is finding a good, honest mechanic in the area. I found him!! I brought my Ford Edge here to be repaired, and not only did they do great work, but Paak (Sp?) was super friendly and extremely helpful & knowledgeable!! The reason these guys have and deserve five stars is their attention to detail, their complete knowledge of autos of all sizes! I went to Prestige with an oil leak...and was told it was coming from my oil pan...the repair cost 850 dollars because of a lot of labor involved to remove the pan....after taking it home my truck still leaked the same amount of oil...I took it back and this time I was told my engine also leaked and I should expect a little oil to leak in an older vehicle...I took it to another shop and was told the only oil leaking was coming from the very part he was suppose to replace..I will never go back to Prestige and I now have to go to small claims count to try and get my money back read more

I've been going to Prestige Auto for about the last 7 years or so and haven't had any problems with any of the repairs performed at Pack's facility. Pack, the owner, always takes the time to explain what the problem is with my vehicle and explains the options available to resolve the problem. Many a time he took me into his shop to look at my vehicle up on the lift to show me what the problem is. I appreciate that so much. It gives me a better idea of what work needs to be done. Pack is very knowledgeable about auto repair. Its been my experience that he looks beyond what the plug in diagnosis tool reads. In other words Pack takes a more comprehensive view and not just relying on the OBD plug in tool to diagnose a problem. To put it simply, I trust Pack. read more

I trusted the shop, but at last I was cheated. I went to get a quote for a repair work for my car, they quoted standard market price. However, when i left the car for repair, they called and told me I may have fix breaks and parts. I never asked to fix those. When went to pick up the car, they added extra charges saying they repaired those - although i never asked. Anyway I paid all those charges. My other car is BMW, they told me they can fix those car also. I had a minor issue in the car, I asked specifically give me ALL charges upfront even if there diagnosis charge. They asked me to leave the car with them. Then they told am ridicules charge, plus diagnosis charge. And they are not willing to give be back the car - unless I pay the diagnosis charge. I would never go to them. I don't recommend anyone going this shop. read more

My car overheated and I had AAA tow me. They sent my car to a authorized local repair shop "Prestige". AAA said they would give me a 10% discount. They spent 3 days to replace the hose that broke and flush and fill the anti freeze then they said I needed to replace the thermostat. The price they initially quoted for parts escalated dramatically when I got my invoice and the labor charges were through the roof. Then they only gave a discount on labor and didnt know what 10% added up to until I did the math. They never called me back when they said they would and I had to continuously call to check on the status. Now I know this was so they could justify the labor charges over 3 days. Avoid Prestige at all costs. Thanks AAA for the horrible experience. I wish I could give ZERO stars. read more

If you feel like giving your money away then this is the perfect place to go to. My mother dropped her van off here for an inspection not knowing that the dmv checks it for free. The mechanic charged us $90 an hour for a diagnostics test. It took him 2 hours to do the test and he never called us back. When he was done I called to check on it and his shop was closed. The next day he called me and told me what was wrong with it and told me it will be over $650 to fix. The oxygen sensor needed to be changed and he told me that my egr valve was damaged. I said that's too much money and ill just take it somewhere else. When my mother went to pick up the vehicle he wanted to charge her $260, saying its a state law to charge that. I called the cops and all they told her to do was pay it then sue him in court. What a rip off. $260 and no job done. read more

I went to Prestige with ABS brake and Traction control lights on and was told by Pak (owner? Manager? I don't know) around $100 to diagnose. He asked how I was referred, and I told him I found them in the AAA web site. I left the car, and when I came back I was told I needed an ABS computer, which is very expensive, but that he might be able to get me a used one for an affordable price. I said ok, see what you can find. I waited around 15 minutes, and was told one was available for $165. I told Pak I would have to come back when I had the money to pay, please write me up a bill for the diagnosis. The bill came to $144, not $100, and when I asked if that included the AAA discount he said no, he would calculate that now. In other words, he was not going to give me the discount unless I asked, even though I told him I came in, he was recommended by AAA. A couple of weeks later, I called the shop to have the work done, and Pak said he would have no problem finding the part again, he would call me back when found. Two weeks later after hearing nothing, I called back, and was told by the person (not Pak) who answered that Pak was out of town, and would call me soon to apprise me of the status of the part search. Now another week later, no call back. So, given that on my original visit, it took only 15 minutes to find the part, and now it's been 3 weeks and no part, it's obvious to me that Pak got his $144 dollars out of me, and is satisfied with that. I could have purchased a scanner to read the ABS computer code for $110, and it would have given me the same information Prestige did, and I would then also own a useful tool to avoid being ripped off for $144 in the future. read more

Do not go here. I have been to other shops i.e. in Freehold, and the service was fairly priced. No one has ever charged me to just look at the problem. I went here because my car broke down in Sayreville and this was the only place open on a Saturday (a commercial shop couldn't do the job because of lack of master mechanic). He charged me 180$ just for diagnostic, when the commercial shop did it for free. Then, he proceeded to charge me 325$ for a part that costs maximum 200$ on Internet. Then, he quoted me one price on the phone, and ended up wanting 250$ more when I went to pick up my car. Sneaky and after your money....that is how I would classify this shop. My brother in law went there once and had similar experience. I am not very knowledgeable about cars, but I don't think paying almost a grand for a valve is fair. Stay away if you value your hard earned money. read more

Do not go there. People are not knowledgeable at all. They might know how to change components, but don't know how to get them working. At least in my case. I needed my new tires to put by someone so I called them up since they were local. I mentioned to them that one of my TMPS sensors was not working. A fried of my tested the wheels and advised me that one of them use bad. Prestige agree to change the sensor and reprogram it so the TMPS light would go away. Prestige replaced my tires balanced, alignment, and 2 TMPS sensors changed ($140 for TPMS Sensors). According to them both were bad. After paying few hundred dollar for their services, driving home my TPMS light come in so I called them, they advised me to come back. I made appointment for next available Saturday and was driving with the light on for almost a week. I left my car second time with them and went home. Hour later I received a call from Prestige Auto saying that TPMS light was off when they turn the car on. Immediately I was saying to myself BS, light was on all week. I walked to the place and asked them if they reset the light, they said "NO". I told them that if the light was coming back I will drive back immediately. I took the car for spin, only 10 miles and light come back. I immediately went back to them (3rd time for the same thing) they told me that my TPMS monitoring system is "defective". I called Honda dealership and they were asking me if the mechanic run relearn mode. Each sensor need to go through it in order for car computer to accept it. You can GOOLGE this stiff about relearning for TMPS for Hondas so I don't need to explain it. Prestige Auto told me that they can try another of their scanners to reset it, but they don't have it right now, and they will give me a call in a day or two. I NEVER got call back from them after that. Frustrated I decided to go to Honda dealer and have them check this. Honda had to replace both sensors that Prestige Auto replace because they used cheap aftermarket TMPS sensors and scanner would not read them properly. Honda mechanic called me to the shop and showed me how the process works. He reset it with a combination of Laptop that was hookup to the cars computer and handheld scanner. Prestige did not do that step. At the end I paid Honda for two new sensors ($150 both). Paid for the programming $150. Balanced two tires $40. Honda dealer fix it, TPMS light is gone for over two months now. I do not like to go to the dealer, but in this case the job got done by them with warranty. One more thing, Prestige guys are nice at first, but they will get very defensive if you challenge them. They will try to prove you wrong even though they don't know what they are talking about! read more
