Just got the worst haircut of my life here, it was basically a buzzcut. I told the barber I wanted the sides and back to be .5 inches in length, and to take 1 inch off the top. To him, this meant the top needs to be 1 inch. After I saw my long hair drop onto my lap, I immediately told him to stop and I wanted to confirm with him exactly what I wanted. I spent the next 5 minutes trying to explain to him that 1 inch off the top didn't mean I wanted it to be 1 inch, but for it to be whatever my current length is minus 1 inch. He insisted that I wanted it to be 1 inch. I gave up and let him finish the cut, and I obviously didn't tip him. I don't think he noticed since he apparently can't add or subtract. I'm going to an event that I've been waiting a year for and was hoping to look good for it, but words can't describe how bad this haircut makes me look. I'm never coming back here again, and I urge anyone who is reading this to just go somewhere else. Anywhere else, it really doesn't matter, it honestly can't get worse than this. read more

I don't know if men are just less smiley, but it's intimidating to go in for a haircut when nobody is friendly. The cut was good, I waivered between 3-4 stars because I felt the friendliness and price were disarming. Will try again, but hopefully they're more friendly next time. read more

My son needed a haircut early one morning and this shop happen to be open. Albert did a fantastic job cutting my sons hair in a way that my son loved. This is a hard thing to accomplish as my son who is 17 is very picky about his hair and to have him walk out with a smile was fantastic! And the prices were great and the service was fantastic. I can't explain how upset I am at this place. I went in for a haircut and was seen right away (I wonder why the guy was available so easily). I asked for a trim and clean up around the neck and for just a little off the top. I was seated away from the view of the mirror and I couldn't really understand what was happening but I thought he must know what he was doing. To my horror I was almost sheared as closely as a lamb. It was so short that you can see my skin around the back and sides. In-f-ing-believable!! I paid and even tipped as I walked away in shock. Go here at your own peril. Just terrible. After driving by so many times, I finally stopped in for a haircut. My regular barber was swamped and he was sick for the past few days. I yelped Prestige and am glad I did. Plenty of parking in the back lot, which is so nice. I walked in and sat in the first available chair. Priscilla took care of me. She was friendly and gentle on my scalp. Some places, the barber is aggressive and even cut my scalp or the mole on my neck. This was one of the only times that I had a straight razor shave on my neck. It felt great, as I always get too much fuzz growing so quickly. Anyway, I am happy with my experience and will request Priscilla next time. Boy, I loved this shop and have been bringing my boys here for several years. That was until around the start of COVID when they began aggressively taking price with no related signage saying as much. What was a $20 kid's haircut in 2019 has jumped to $40. To Sammy Ts point, felt like a punch in the gut. Have since started taking my boys to Floyd's where the same haircut is $26 and the experience equal, if not marginally better. read more

Out of the 30 or so different haircut places I've been to, this is definitely the best one. I've had 3 different people cut my hair at this shop and they're all good, but Tony(the asian guy) is by far best. His display of skill is obvious as he cuts quickly, yet with a steady hand. I get a high fade, tapered side burns, disconnected from the top as the length decreases from front to back(so my hair can be pulled back for a more formal comb over/pomp/slick style or messy hanging off to the side). He gets it right every time and i'm done in 20-30 mins tops. My only knock on this place is that it is a bit pricey( it's now $30 and I usually tip $5). Just wanted to note that It's interesting to me a good handful of the low star reviews are complaints about tony. Some say he doesn't speak english... which is false, considering I give him pretty detailed instructions on how to cut my hair. Other reasons are that they expect the cut to take longer or that he doesn't make small talk... like what? A barbor who doesn't make small talk, cuts my hair well and finishes in 20-30 mins. Sounds like my ideal barbor and Ron swanson would agree. read more

Truly disappointed. I would not recommend. The barber closest to the door on not the street side charged me $80 for a hair and beard term. Most expensive hair and beard trim ever. Most I had paid there was $60. This guy felt like charging me $80. Worst part yet I get home and my wife was like who trimmed your beard it higher on one side than the other! Nothing can be done other than warn others on Yelp not to go here and if you do watch your wallet if you get the guy next to the back door. Not worth it by a long shot. :( read more

WARNING: DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES STEALTH PRICE INCREASES: ASK THE COST FIRST!!! These guys are straight-up gouging/deceiving customers. Several months ago I'd paid $25 plus tip. Today as I waited, the customer in front of me finished-up and asked how much he owed and the barber said "$40." The customer said "Just for the haircut? When did that change? I got my haircut a few months ago for $25" and the barber, an older guy with a receding hairline, only repeated $40 several times until the customer paid and left. After that customer was out of earshot, I asked the barber the price and he just gestured at the chair. I asked again, he did the same thing, I asked again and he said "$40" and when I asked when the pricing had changed, as I got my haircut there several months ago, he said "Several months ago." Well, I need a haircut but I really dislike shady business practices so I just walked out. I guess they feel like because they can cut hair outside they can gouge customers but they had barbers sitting around and my business walked out the door. read more

Only 1 experience at this barber shop. It's close to LAX. I called this place 1 day before my husband arrived. He wanted his haircut ASAP because it was getting messy. I called the day prior to make an appointment. But they are walk in only. We walked in around 4:20pm, and Adam cut his hair. He was very focused and attentive. He asked questions, after he moved to the next step. The haircut was done before 5pm. My husband was very satisfied with his haircut and beard trim/line up. He mentioned that he likes that Adam doesn't waste time on non sense such as warm/cold towels or head massages, which art of shave does. Adam stays focused to what the customer wants. Prestige is a great barbershop in the Redondo/Manhattan beach area. The best two best things about this shop are the very friendly staff and their location (very easily accessible if just arriving at LAX). Although we were just getting in town as well, our hotel was in the area, so it was a win-win. Initially I went into a Frank's 99 Barbershop literally a mile from this location, but upon entering, it felt more like a Great Clips than a barbershop. I looked on Yelp! and found Prestige and went there instead. My barber, I believe his name was Michael (kind of bad with names), was friendly and efficient. I will definitely not hesitate to visit Prestige when I'm in the greater LA area. Side note: the parking for all of these businesses on Sepulveda is in the alley behind. I'm not sure if they have a dedicated parking lot (because we found an alternative spot) but I did notice when walking to the shop most of the businesses do. read more

I parked in the lot behind their shop. Upon walking in, I walked into an empty chair and the guy said "have a seat" while pulling up the apron thingy. Awesome. I needed a bit of an overhaul and put my doo in the barbers hans giving just a few guidelines. I was facing their TV screen the entire time and wasn't sure exactly what was taking place. Avoid the Asian guy like a plague. He treats your hair like an assembly line with little to no care (the chair was still spinning while he was cutting). This is the first time in my entire life that I received a haircut that can be described as patchy. When I pointed it out and asked him to at least smooth things out a little, he immediately said that he couldn't and blamed it on my head shape. This has never been a problem for me. I've been to many different barbershops and salons on different price scales and this man was the first to ever mention this as a problem. A wonderful man to have if you have to leave for the airport in 5 min, not so if you want something done with any semblance of quality. I've had my hair done by some of the other barbers who were fantastic, but this man has scared off my business permanently. I now have to go to another place in order to fix his work. The place is modeled to look like an old fashioned barber shop which makes your experience even better. They even have free sodas and waters if you get a haircut there. Called around 1:30PM on a Weds afternoon to ask whether they did an old fashioned straight razor shave, the lady on the phone was speaking in a very low tone and I could barley hear anything she was saying. I did catch that she said "yes they did perform them", but I wasn't able to hear anything else that she said. At that point, I politely told her that she might need to speak up a bit because I could not hear anything she was saying, from there the woman hung up on me! Like really? I don't care how busy you are or what else is going on, you dont hang up on a customer....EVER! I called back and said that I had called a few minutes earlier about the straight razor shave, she said we do them, but cant today, we are really busy, then hung up again! What the..... I called back a third time and asked who I was speaking with, she said Lynn. I said thanks Lynn, I will be sure to let the owner know about my experience. I'm not the type to usually rant or get angry about poor customer service, but you simply don't treat a customer that way, not under any circumstances. I would never give this place a chance after that first experience I had over the phone. If they treat their customers that poorly over the phone, I would hate to think how my shave or haircut would go down. In my opinion, that's called terrible customer service. There's an old saying....."YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION".....and that they did not. I've been here a few times to try this place out. Long time south bay local and wanted to give this place a shot. The place has parking in the back. Large Tv's so you aren't board. Haircuts are generally good but it depends on which barber you get. Negatives: They face you towards the TV's away from the mirrors for the entire haircut. That means you can't see what they are doing to your hair. Unless you insist on having your chair turned around, they won't do it. I asked to see my hair about halfway though the cut and the girl said "you don't trust me?" Actually, I don't trust anyone to cut my hair without me seeing it. My buddy just went here and had the same complaint. There is no reason you can't put a mirror under the TV's so I can see what my barber is doing and give some input or at least turn me around so I can see. read more

I was very happy to see a new barber shop open up in my neighborhood. So as I always do I went on to Yelp to check out the reviews and they had a very high rating so I decided to go get a haircut and a shave as this was supposed to be a barber shop, what a mistake this was! First off the customer service was absolutely horrible at best. Not only did the girl who cut my hair not introduce herself to me she never asked my name. This was just the start of it too, she went on to start cutting my hair without even asking me how I like it. After the hair cut which wasn't all that bad I wanted to get a shave. This was by far the WORST shave I have ever gotten hands down! Now either she could tell I wasn't happy with the service and decided to give me a horrible half dry shave or she wasn't qualified to be shaving but I can't stress enough how bad this was! When I asked to speak to someone who spoke English he didn't know what I meant but tried to get someone else on the line. He said everyone is too busy and hung up on me. I was really disappointed with my experience. After reading the yelp reviews I thought I had found my place. I walked in and wasn't greeted. No 'Hi'. No 'Hello.' Nothing. The guy who cut my hair was on his cell phone and didn't acknowledge me but just kept talking on his cellphone as I took a seat. He finally motioned me over with a hand wave and again no greeting "Hi, how are you" nothing. I don't know his name because he didn't introduce himself. He was still on his cell phone when he was throwing the barber cape over me. "How do you like it cut?" He asked and that was it. I'm not looking for a barber that talks to me all the time and comes up with small talk, but just some recognition would have been nice. And I'm a guy so finally I don't really care if you didn't dote on me as long as my hair looks ok but it didn't. I told him not to cut my side burns too short and he cut them up the ear. I've been to a few barbers for beard shaping and trimming and no one is as good as Albert. When I lived in Pomona I'd drive 100 miles (to/from) just to see Albert. He is by far the best barber I've ever had and I wouldn't let any other barber trim or shape my beard. He takes his time and doesn't rush to give you perfect symmetry with the width and shape and in the line ups he shaves. He performs a classic shave with a straight razor, hot lather and hot towel. As long as Albert is still a barber I'll be going to him. I get complements and acknowledgement on my beard from men and woman everywhere I go. It's a huge confidence booster.
