I was lucky enough to find an expert barber in Manhattan Beach. Whether you prefer scissors or clippers, Thomas has you covered. I personally like it high and tight, number 3 on top and 1 on the sides. I never really paid much attention to fades but Thomas sure is a fade artist. My teenage son has long and flowy locks as is the current style and once again Thomas shows his magic. Appointments are simple to book online and his shop is beautiful and modern.

I have been going to Thomas for several years now and he is a great barber and does a very good job on my hair. I would like to continue to go to him but he didn't show for an appointment with no call or text. He has also changed or cancelled appointments at the last minute. I have friends who have had the same experience and have stopped going to Thomas. I don't want to change barbers but I guess I may have to. read more

Somewhat pricy but the owner, Thomas, gives good hircuts. Unfortunately, he doesn't honor his appointments and has been late for my appointments multipke times, once 1/2 half hour. Whilt Thomas is personable, I won't be going back. read more

Extremely pricey for what you get - I made the mistake of not inquiring about the price beforehand. there are no prices listed which should have been a sign. I was floored when I was quoted $65 after my 15-20 min mens haircut. My haircut looks fine but felt robbed notwithstanding. The owner Thomas is nice and skilled but I'll be looking at other places. read more

I have been looking for that perfect barber for a very long time.. and I finally found it! Everything was easy, fast, and my cut was exactly how I wanted it. BOOKING: booking an appointment was so easy to do online. THE LOCATION: Perfect location, a block from the ocean. Lots of street parking and parking garage. Lots of nearby restaurants and shops. Plenty of things to do before and after your cut. THE SHOP: if you are looking for a man cave, this is it! The decor is simple and pleasing and just makes you feel like you at home with the homies chillin and watching a game. THE STAFF: Tommy is amazing. Professional and efficient to say the least. I have been going to a salon and paying a lot of cash for just a 30-40 min cut. I can't believe that Tommy did it in less time and a fraction of the price. I wish I discovered Puremens a long time ago. My hair got a fresh fade and a great trim and texture on top. His cut and attention to detail on what you want is perfection! Thank you Tommy! THE PRICE: Worth every penny and definitely affordable. Definitely recommend this place and will drive the distance (from Hollywood) just to hang out at the man cave and come out looking fresh! I had the worst haircut experience of my life at Svelte Barbershop & Essential in Manhattan Beach, and I am incredibly disappointed with the results and the owner's complete lack of accountability. The owner, Nicky, was my barber, and he totally butchered my haircut. As the pictures clearly show, he cut a literal hole in my hair above my ear, creating a completely uneven and unacceptable result. It's a shocking lack of skill for someone who owns a barbershop. This wasn't a minor mistake; it was a disaster that ruined my look. Zero Effort to Correct the Situation. Following this terrible experience, I sent the owner, Nicky, several emails asking how he planned to correct this situation, as the damage he did will take weeks to grow out. He has ignored every single one of my emails. This is not only terrible business practice but also shows a blatant disrespect for a customer whose hair he ruined. A professional should immediately try to rectify a mistake, but Svelte Barbershop, and Nicky specifically, have chosen to hide instead. If you are looking for a skilled barber and a shop with even basic customer service, do not go to Svelte Barbershop & Essential. The owner, Nicky, is clearly unskilled and unwilling to take responsibility for his terrible work. This was the worst haircut I have ever received, coupled with the worst customer service. Save your money and your hair, go somewhere else! I've attached photos from the horrible cut about a week or so after being butchered and now a new haircut at a different barber, where he attempted to even it out. You can still see the chunk that was taken out but at least the haircut actually flows now and is not a total dumpster fire.

My feet have been through it the last couple of years (sports) and I wanted to get serious about caring for them properly, not just getting them painted. Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. And thanks again for the massage therapist recommendation. Rest and recovery, here I come!

If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.
